I believe this is the wrong type of card. You would need a 211 PK.
The RAD III is not too expensive for what it does but it is a bit of an
overkill for what you would like to do: it is a development environment
and you just want to load an Applet. Ideally we need a group of
volunteers to write an OP loader....
BTW, you would need an older version of the RAD as Linux is not
supported anymore.
The 211PK is available on the Gemplus web store
(http://store.gemplus.com) and for the RAD you would have to call a
local sales representative (list on
http://www.gemplus.com/companyinfo/aboutgemplus/offices/index.php).
