Hi all,
I'd like to access my company network from anywhere using linux.
This is something that I already do with XP, using:
- a Cisco VPN Client
- a USB smartcard (e-gate 32K)
I'm not an expert at all, but it seems that the VPN client is configured to
use a certificate (looks like a microsoft certificate) that is stored in the
smartcard. Each time the vpn client wants to access the certificate, the smartcard
is accessed (and a PIN code is requested). After entering the PIN code, some
authentication process (how, where, I'm not sure I know) is performed and well
I'm connected!
The point now is: how to do the same with linux? I installed both the pc/cs lite framework
and the e-gate driver. Well it seems to work: the usb smartcard is seen, and when I run
pcsc_scan, I can see things happen each time I plug the usb smartcard in and out.
I'm now quite stuck: what should I do next? Is there a way to use the certificate
stored in the smartcard in a vpn session? Are there any tools to do this?
Is anyone doing something similar? Thanks a lot for your support!
