GemSAFE is not a Javacard (it is a proprietary OS) hence the cheaper
price. It is not supported by Musclecard.

These products are usually available through resellers.

The GemPCTwin works very well with pcsc-lite 1.2.9 and Ludovic's CCID
driver.

It also works with Panther's original PCSC stack with my CCID driver.
This saves you updating the system framework to 1.2.9 (which would
break Panther's native support).

IMHO, the Twin is a good choice but for the card, you'll have to
contact a reseller or get an Axalto card (beware that some cyberflex
might not be compatible with the IA loader.
