The Debian packages are configured like this:
- muscletools_2.1.0-4: ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-readline
- libmusclecard_1.3.3-3: CFLAGS="-Wall -g -O2 -Wl,-z,defs" ./configure \
                   --host=i486-linux-gnu \
                   --build=i486-linux-gnu \
                   --prefix=/usr \
                   --mandir=\${prefix}/share/man \
                   --enable-muscledropdir=/usr/lib/pcsc/services \
                   LDFLAGS="-lpthread"

So muscletools is using version 1 (default). I guess that is OK.
