RE: problem with starting SAPDB instance

You are not allowed to create volumes as compressed files. The reason
for this is that empty volumes compress much better than database
volumes that are filled. When the filesystem is full, there is a high
probability that a page can't be written because there is not enough
room for a filled page, only for an empty one.
