MaxDB 7.6 won't support non-NPTL Linux/i386 anymore. This can be vaguely seen from our platform matrix http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/pam_non_sap.pdf, where "SuSE 8 / X86-32" for 7.6 is listed as unavailable.

For a while, support for non-NPTL threading will still exist in the sources and will be tested, but this will not be an official feature and will be discontinued in the not so distant future. You'll need the most current source archive at ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/maxdb/current/7.6.00/maxdb-source-7_6_00_05.tgz, as the non-NPTL variant was missing from the sources released last week.

This will not affect MaxDB 7.5 for Linux/i386, where
- the official binaries will be built for non-NPTL systems
- the sources contain also support for NPTL systems
