How to set compile options for MaxDB

Hi,

I'am setting up a Gentoo system and compiled everything from the
scratch, so I did with Maxdb. So far so good, but I can't find where to
set the compile options globally. I want a -mcpu=pentium4 -O3 and
something like that to squeeze out everything of the machine. It seems
to me the build-tools generate some kind general 386 code, which must
not give a lot performance.

I didn't find anything usable on the List or via Google.

Please give a hint

TIA
  Alex
