Automate Database Backups

In our shop we use Veritas Netbackup. It talks about using the BACKINT
executable to run database backups for MaxDB. I am still sifting through
the rubble on this but would appreciate any tips from users who have
this in place. Or if not this any other software/suggestions to help out
with this.
