The class is determined (mostly) by the length of your mask.

10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 would be a 'class a' (but most of the internet is now
classless ... oh, never mind :-). or as an 8 bit network
10.9.2.3/255.255.255.0 would be refered (usually) as a 'class c' or a 24
bit network.
