2. SR 8606109866 / CR JAGab82567
When processing the CreateAndX SMB, a native NT server
returns an error code when the directory paths do not
exist. ASU does not return the same SMB error code as
a native NT server.
3. SR 8606128489 / CR JAGac84454
Roaming profiles are not working with AS/U B.03.04.01
4. SR 8606128762 / CR JAGac86309
Occasionally a NET command fails with
Error 1326. Since the HA monitor script
executes NET commands to see if AS/U is
up, this error can cause HA to failover.
5. SR 8606112254 / CR JAGab84568
If the size of the username being authenticated is
greater than 20 characters the lmx.dmn process
dies. Most clients will not allow long names and so
problem will not occur with such clients. However,
when an Exchange server is authenticating a POP3
client using NTLM, it does not check the length
of the username.

Defect Description:
PHNE_24272:
-----[ ASU version B.04.06.02 ]-----
1.SR 8606214501 / CR JAGad83692
The new FileChangeNotify feature has some serious
problems and this temporary fix and workaround disables
this feature until it can be reworked.
2.SR 8606217512 / CR JAGad86664
The bad ASU SYSTEM log messages was caused by a bad
version of the netevent.dll file being shipped with the
lastest version of ASU B.04.06. This fix simply involves
shipping the most current version of netevent.dll
PHNE_24270:
-----[ ASU version B.04.06.01 ]-----
1.SR 8606204980 / CR JAGad74156
The B.03.06 and B.04.06 versions of ASU exhibited problems
with the "net view" command, not displaying any of the
servers in the domain. This was caused by a bug in the
code that requests the list of servers from the domain
master server. ASU requests the list of servers for each
transport or NIC card configured in the domain master
server. If any one of these requests failed, it would
clear all of the servers on the list instead of taking
what it has so far.
2.SR 8606154157 / CR JAGad23475
A newer version of the ASUADM.EXE program that works with
member servers was available but the older version was
being shipped with the depot. This newer version is being
shipped with this patch.
3.SR 8606205408 / CR JAGad74583
There was a bug in that code such that when the
"net version" command was invoked, it would get the version
information but it would not display it.
4.SR 8606198808 / CR JAGad67997
In trying to shrink the ACL file, the blobadm
program assumes that an ACE entry, which is
composed of 1 or more contiguous fragments of
128 bytes, cannot cross a 4096 boundary. The
main line code that adds and deletes ACES does
not make this same assumption. Thus, when trying
to shrink the ACL file, blobadm could possibly
step on itself and corrupt the file since it
tries to shrink the ACL file in place.
5.SR 8606207185 / CR JAGad76360
The ASU lmx.srv process cores in the function
ATTNetServerEnum2() at a customer site. Analysis of the
core file revealed that it was trying to read past the
input buffer in a while loop. The fix was to check,
each time thru the while loop, if there was enough data
in the buffer to read. If there are fewer bytes left in the
buffer than will fit in a "ba" structure, then only the
remaining number of bytes is read instead of the number
of bytes equivalent to the size of the "ba" structure.
6.SR 8606144935 / CR JAGad14275
Using the User Manager for Domains tool, an NT user can
be given dial-in capability. However, dial-in capability
does not take effect and the user, in fact, does not retain
this capability, even if the appropriate box is checked
using the User Manager for Domains Dialin screen.
7.SR 8606183454 / CR JAGad52667
For member servers, the acladm program did not check
to see if the user associated with the ACE is a domain-local
or domain-global group, before removing the ACE.
The change is to check this before removing the ACE.
PHNE_22942:
-----[ ASU version B.04.05.04 ]-----
1.SR 8606141938 / CR JAGad11292
The "change password" code needs to set up the unicode
password just like the "create user" code does.
Modularize the unicode password set up procedure and
have both create user and change password use the same
procedure to set up user's password.
2.SR 8606140065 / CR JAGad09387
The problem was caused by a function inadvertently
setting an input parameter even if a matching
share was not found, thus causing the printer driver
of the last scanned share to be assigned to the printer
currently being added.
3.SR 8606131601 / CR JAGad00751
The problem was caused when UNIX quotas are enabled,
seteuid is called before the call to open(). However,
setegid is NOT being called which results in ACCESS
DENIED errors when group permissions were expected to
enable access.
4.SR 8606140065 / CR JAGad09387
The problem was caused by a function inadvertently
setting an input parameter even if a matching
share was not found, thus causing the printer driver
of the last scanned share to be assigned to the printer
currently being added.
PHNE_21092:
-----[ ASU version B.04.04.05 ]-----
1. SR 8606106016 / CR JAGab74801
The problem was caused by passing double word pointers to
the function Filedata_infodevino(), when it expected word
pointers.
Resolution: The solution was to pass the parameters as WORD
instead of DWORD when calling Filedata_infodevino().
2. SR 8606109866 / CR JAGab82567
When processing the CreateAndX SMB, the UNIX error code
ENOENT should be translated into
STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND since this is what an NT
server returns.
Resolution: If the file being create does not exist and
the UNIX error code returned via errno is ENOENT, then the
error STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND is returned to the
client. For any other error, STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_INVALID is
returned as before.
3. SR 8606128489 / CR JAGac84454
In processing the makedir SMB, the ASU server returns the
error code STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED when the client
expects STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_COLLISION. The fix was
to return the correct error code.
Resolution: If the directory already exists the error
STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_COLLISION is now returned to the
client instead of STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.
4. SR 4701-400598 / CR JAGac86309
Occasionally a NET command fails with
Error 1326. Since the HA monitor script
executes NET commands to see if AS/U is
up, this error can cause HA to failover.
Resolution: The Error 1326 is now avoided by
changing the code to give the asynchonous connection
setup routine a chance to finish before use of the
connection takes place
5. CR JAGab84568
AS/U could not handle usernames of greater than 20
characters.
Resolution: AS/U now checks to make sure that username
lengths are not greater than 20 characters
on logon attempts so the lmx.dmn will no
longer abort.

Symptoms:
PHKL_25509:
( SR:8606203627 CR:JAGad72800 )
There is no way to turn off c720 interface driver
vmunix: scb->cdb: %x %x %x %x %x %x
messages in syslog.log, while other related messages can be
suppressed.
( SR:8606186960 CR:JAGad56170 )
A high number of
SCSI: asense data-done -- lbolt %d, dev: %x, tag: %x
messages may be logged in syslog.log when using Plasmon
optical drives.
( SR:8606201476 CR:JAGad70652 )
The following informative message on the console and in
syslog.log causes unnecessarily alarm by customers:
SCSI: Attempt to access partially open device -- dev: %x
( SR:8606199892 CR:JAGad69078 )
On HP SureStore E Disk Array 12 (A3586A), processes can hang
with the following message in the syslog.log:
Device violation of Contingent Allegiance
( SR:8606194472 CR:JAGad63680 )
On workstation model C3700, the external narrow SCSI bus is
setup incorrectly. The 'diskinfo' command returns invalid
information and I/O's on this bus hang.
( SR:8606177456 CR:JAGad46688 )
It takes an unreasonable amount of time to import Disk
Groups with the VxVM volume manager on a FC60 array.
PHKL_25165:
( SR:8606207855 CR:JAGad77032 )
The ioctl system call returns invalid values if called with
SIOC_GET_TGT_LIMITS or SIOC_GET_TGT_PARMS parameters for a
SCSI device controlled by the c8xx driver.
( SR:8606170140 CR:JAGad39404 )
Well functionning systems with Fibre Channel devices
generate an excessive number of logs. This causes log files
cluttering, diag2 daemon overrun or /var filesystem free
space exhaustion.
( SR:8606172682 CR:JAGad41942 )
With the per lun queue depth feature, queue depth
modification on a lun that does not support tag queueing is
not rejected, even though the queue depth on such a device
cannot be modified.
Queue depth can be changed only once on devices supporting
tag queueing.
( SR:8606166652 CR:JAGad35939 )
If an application uses the sctl/ioctl passthrough interface
with the read/write data size mismatching the buffer size,
the system experiences a Data Page Fault panic with the
following routines on the stack:
panic+0x14
report_trap_or_int_and_panic+0x4c
interrupt+0x1e8
$ihndlr_rtn+0x0
lbcopy_pcxu_method+0xc

( SR:8606192639 CR:JAGad61851 )
The system boot time and ioscan command (without -k option)
time are too long, especially in a system with a large Fibre
Channel Array configuration.
( SR:8606189054 CR:JAGad58270 )
If many processes access the same bus, some processes might
become unkillable. This error condition has been experienced
only on systems with a hundred or more luns on the same bus.
( SR:8606166664 CR:JAGad35951 )
A system with 2 ALT 8-series DLT (Quantum 4000) on the same
card showed the following panic:
panic: (display==0xb800, flags==0x0) Data page fault 1111
The stack trace was:

PHKL_23313:
( SR:8606174670 CR:JAGad43916 )
Compiling kernel-intrusive programs (such as drivers and
programs that access /dev/mem or /dev/kmem) on HP-UX 11.11
may result in compiler warnings or errors due to namespace
violations. Executing such programs may cause kernel
structure data corruption, resulting in memory leaks, hangs,
or panics.
PHKL_24441:
( SR:8606173682 CR:JAGad42939 )
High Availability systems hang when under heavy load
and many I/O errors are being returned by the scsi
driver (possibly due to a hardware problem).
( SR:8606175843 CR:JAGad45083 )
A defective SCSI bus controller generates continuous
SCSI bus resets and causes the system to panic.
The panic results in the following stack trace:
panic+0x14
settimeout_for_cpu+0x174
Ktimeout+0x3c
c720_reset_chip+0x129c
c720_isrRST+0x94
c720_isr+0x15cc
sapic_interrupt+0x2c
( SR:8606176606 CR:JAGad45845 )
If device tracing is enabled (with appropriate values
for scsi_trace_dev and scsi_trace_mask, typically for
debugging) and when the system experiences errors
during I/O through the passthrough driver, the system
panics.
panic+0x14

( SR:8606173887 CR:JAGad43140 )
There are various symptoms as described under the
following CRs.
( SR:8606169027 CR:JAGad38305 )
Disk I/O hangs even when LVM PV-Link is configured.
The system could report a "DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM WARNING".
The on-line diagnostic log would show an I/O Error.
( SR:8606178152 CR:JAGad47379 )
Process hang can result during a device open. The system
log (/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log) shows Queue Full status
and a large retry count on an Inquiry request.
( SR:8606168578 CR:JAGad37858 )
The process hangs if an ioctl is issued to a non-existent
hardware path.
( SR:8606178041 CR:JAGad47268 )
"vgchange -a n <VG Name>" command hangs when the cable is
disconnected on the alternate link, if immediate
reporting (IR) is true.
( SR:8606167814 CR:JAGad37097 )
ioscan -fn command hangs when there is a bad disk present.
( SR:8606139670 CR:JAGad08981 )
The system panics when a certain type of SCSI error
occurs while doing writes on hfs filesystem.
The /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log reports Check Condition
status with sense key: (03) Medium Error.
( SR:8606166721 CR:JAGad36008 )
When a bus is shared between two systems, if one of the
systems continuously sends out bus resets, the I/Os from
the other system on this bus hang, consequently the
PV-Link switch would not occur.
Defect Description:
PHKL_25509:
( SR:8606203627 CR:JAGad72800 )
All messages logged by the c720 driver can be suppressed by
setting appropriate value for a c720 driver global variable.
This message was not controlled by this variable.
Resolution:
The value of the global variable is now checked before
printing the mentioned message.

The Plasmon devices return 256 bytes of Sense data. The
allocated buffer for sense data is also 256 bytes, causing
the residue to be zero. When the residue is zero, the
mentioned message is printed.
Resolution:
The code that prints the mentioned message is removed since
a zero residue is not an error.
( SR:8606201476 CR:JAGad70652 )
This informative message is logged while trying to access a
device with zero capacity (i.e. a placeholder LUN when LUNS
are not defined contiguously) or a device without media.
Resolution:
This message is no longer logged by default for partially
opened devices. This message log can be enabled for
debugging purposes by setting appropriate value in
scsi_log_mask.
( SR:8606199892 CR:JAGad69078 )
Devices of HP SureStore E Disk Array 12 sometimes
successfully complete I/Os when in Contingent Allegiance
(CHECK CONDITION state of SCSI devices). These I/O
completions were not reported to the requesting layer,
causing the process to hang.
Resolution:
If an I/O completes sucessfully when the device is in
Contingent Allegiance condition, the I/O is returned with an
error to the requesting layer for further action (typically
an I/O retry).
( SR:8606194472 CR:JAGad63680 )
While determining whether the SCSI bus is wide or narrow,
the C3700 model was not considered.
Resolution:
The model string for the C3700 was added to the list of
models with narrow external SCSI buses.
( SR:8606177456 CR:JAGad46688 )
On the last close of a device, the scsi driver attempts to
synchronize the cache of the device. Using a FC60 array,
this is unnecessary and it also causes an Automatic LUN
Tranfer (ALT). The unneeded ALT operations cause a
significant delay when attempting to import Disk groups.
Resolution:
Disk driver does not synchronize cache on FC60 array devices
when the device is closed.
PHKL_25165:
( SR:8606207855 CR:JAGad77032 )
The SCSI services did not support these ioctls for the c8xx
driver.
Resolution:
SCSI services is enhanced to support these ioctls for the
c8xx driver.
( SR:8606170140 CR:JAGad39404 )
Many non critical conditions generate logs. By example,
addition or removal of devices in the loop generate many
resets.
Resolution:
The logging mechanism is adapted to record only critical
error conditions. The following conditions are recorded:
Unit Attention and Deferred errors
I/O retried unsuccessfully
I/O unsuccessful and not retried
Also, if the SLOG_SUCCESS_RETRY is set in scsi_log_mask,
I/Os completing successfully after prior unsuccessful
attempts are recorded. This helps to identify devices
repeatedly returning errors before being successful.
( SR:8606172682 CR:JAGad41942 )
The nature of the lun is not checked when modifying the
queue depth of the lun.
When modifying the queue depth of a lun, the new value
is overwritten by the previous value.
Resolution:
The nature of a lun is checked while modifying its queue
depth. If the lun does not support tag queueing, an error
code is returned.
The code is adapted to support multiple queue depth changes.
( SR:8606166652 CR:JAGad35939 )
If a SCSI I/O is initiated using the sctl/ioctl passthrough
function and the transfer size is greater than the size of
the malloc'd buffer for this transfer, the system panics.
Resolution:
Check the access permissions of the buffer supplied by the
user before using it. This ensures the system won't panic
if the size of the I/O is greater than the size of the
buffer.
( SR:8606192639 CR:JAGad61851 )
While probing for each LUN, the corresponding bus is opened
and closed. The bus open takes a long time, especially in
large Fibre Channel Array configurations. Since all
possible LUNs are probed on each target whether or not they
are present, the probe time can be quite long on large Fibre
Channel Array configurations, resulting in long boot times
and long ioscan times (without the -k option).
Resolution:
The bus is kept open until all the LUNs corresponding to all
the targets on that bus are probed.
( SR:8606189054 CR:JAGad58270 )
Under heavy I/O load on the same bus, when some per bus
resource (tag, nexus) becomes unavailable, I/Os are stored
in specific queues, waiting for the resource to become
available. Under some conditions, the queues are not
checked once the resource is once again available, leaving
the I/O requests unserviced. The corresponding processes
remain in an unkillable state, waiting for I/O completion
or failure that never occurs.
Resolution:
Additional tests were added to check if I/Os are pending in
the queues, and to process them if the resources are now
available.
( SR:8606166664 CR:JAGad35951 )
While retrying an I/O that has timed out, the system may
access a previously freed target pointer, resulting in a
panic.
Resolution:
Timed-out requests are sent to a temporary queue. This
prevents them from being processed and started until the
target pointer is once again valid.
PHKL_23313:
( SR:8606174670 CR:JAGad43916 )
A number of program header files were delivered in their
"debug" forms rather than in their intended "performance"
forms. Kernel-intrusive programs (such as drivers and
programs that access /dev/mem or /dev/kmem) compiled with
these header files may contain internal structures that are
not aligned with the actual kernel structures.
Resolution:
A set of patches redeliver the header files in their
intended forms. All kernel-intrusive programs originally
compiled using the header files included on the HP-UX 11i
Operating Environment OE Install and Recovery media dated
December 2000 must be recompiled using the corrected header
files.
All of the corrected header file patches are included in the
BUNDLE11i bundle on on the HP-UX 11i Operating Environment
Core OE Install and Recovery media dated February 2001 or
later.
The complete list of header file patches is:

I/Os which timeout were not always being returned with
an error but were being retried indefinitely. This
resulted in requests that had timed out, getting stuck
in the disk driver's queue, resulting in a hang.
Resolution:
The requests are tracked and those which timeout are
returned to the upper layer, thus allowing it to switch
to an alternate path if one is configured.
( SR:8606175843 CR:JAGad45083 )
On every SCSI bus reset, a new timer was set for further
processing. This lead to timer table overflow that
caused the system to panic.
Resolution:
Everytime the bus reset occurs, the previously-set timer
(if it exists), is cancelled and a new timer is set.
This ensures only one timer exists per bus at a given
time thus preventing the timer table overflow.
( SR:8606176606 CR:JAGad45845 )
In the passthrough driver I/O path, the logging function
referenced a NULL pointer while trying to generate a
hardware path string for the device, causing the system
panic.
Resolution:
For I/Os through the passthrough driver, the logging
function now checks for NULL pointer and the hardware
path information for the device is not logged for such
I/Os.

Few error conditions were retried indefinitely causing
process hang or PVLink switch not to occur. While in the
case of error-intolerant upper layers (like the hfs
filesystem) the error returns caused file system panics.
Resolution:
Depending on where the I/O is issued from:
1. Device open/ioctl,
2. I/Os from an error-intolerant upper layer or
3. I/Os from LVM-like upper layers,
various error conditions are now handled appropriately.

Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_25220
Symptoms:
PHSS_25220:
- r3itogui crashes on Solaris and
HP-UX 10.20 servers
PHSS_24818:
- r3monxmi, r3mondev do not perform
SAP status checks at all
- r3monxmi, r3mondev, r3monpro, r3monal,
r3monsap do not determine actual
state of an SAP system.
- r3monxmi always delivers syslog messages
from the last 24hrs.
- when closing an SAP GUI started by an ITO
app. the message
"FUNCTION: ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION
EXCEPTION: COMMUNICATION_FAILURE
RFC operation/code RfcCallReceive
ERROR/EXCEPTION"
occurs although there is no problem
- r3monal does not deliver CCMS messages
on AIX.
- r3monlck and r3monupd send duplicate
messages if an SAP system consists of
more than one instance.
PHSS_23372:
- monitors r3monal, r3monxmi,
r3monpro, r3mondev, r3monsap
abort with coredump if there
are too many config file
entries.
- r3monal aborts if config
file entries have suntax
errors
Defect Description:
PHSS_25220:
- r3itogui crashes on Solaris and
HP-UX 10.20 servers because it
is a HP-UX 11.00 binary in both
cases.
Resolution:
- a new patch is generated
PHSS_24818:
- r3monxmi, r3mondev do not call
the function CheckSapState to
determine the state of the
SAP system.
- r3monxmi, r3mondev, r3monpro, r3monal,
r3monsap do not determine actual
state of an SAP system, because they do
not use shared mem. info. They use the
contents of the file r3monup.his only. This
does not reflect the most recent state of
the SAP system
- r3monxmi does not evaluate the contents of
r3monxmi.his due to a coding error in A.07.11
- This is a bug in the SAP RFC lib. that
incorrectly generates the message
"FUNCTION: ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION
EXCEPTION: COMMUNICATION_FAILURE
RFC operation/code RfcCallReceive
ERROR/EXCEPTION"
- r3monal does not deliver messages because
it cannot access the shared. mem. in
AIX enviroments. This is caused by a bug
in the corresponding SAP library used
by r3monal.
- r3monlck and r3monupd send duplicate
messages if an SAP system consists of
more than one instance because they perform
the checking for each app. server
Resolution:
- Added the function call
CheckArrayLimits() to each
monitor that checks if the
index of the array violates
the limits of the array. If
a violation occurs, a message
is put into the trace file and
the monitor is exited.
- the access to the pointer variables
was extended by errohandling
routines which intercept an
access to a NULL pointer. The
corresponding config. line
is discarded.
- the ABAP/4 code of the monitors
was changed to enable the app.
server specific configuration.
- call to CheckSapState was added.
- tracing was enhanced to reflect
status info about SAP system coming
from shared mem.
- the sequence of calls was corrected
so that the parsing of the file
r3monxmi.his is performed.
- to prevent the message
"FUNCTION: ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION
EXCEPTION: COMMUNICATION_FAILURE
RFC operation/code RfcCallReceive
ERROR/EXCEPTION"
this message was intercepted when
evaluating the return code from
the SAP library function.
- r3monal was enabled to access shared
mem. by linking it with the most recent
version of alxxlib.o. This version of
the lib. does not contain the bug anymore.
PHSS_23372:
- monitors r3monal, r3monxmi,
r3monpro,r3mondev, r3monsap
abort with coredump if there
are too many config file
entries. The number of entries
are different for each monitor
(between 100 & 1000).
- if a config line has syntax errors
after the keyword AlertMonObj it
is possible that the monitor coredumps,
because pointer variables remain
uninitialized.
- r3monwpa, r3monusr, r3monchg
cannot be configured for a
particular application server.
Resolution:
- Added the function call
CheckArrayLimits() to each
monitor that checks if the
index of the array violates
the limits of the array. If
a violation occurs, a message
is put into the trace file and
the monitor is exited.
- the access to the pointer variables
was extended by errohandling
routines which intercept an
access to a NULL pointer. The
corresponding config. line
is discarded.
- the ABAP/4 code of the monitors
was changed to enable the app.
server specific configuration.

Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_24638
Symptoms:
PHSS_24638:
1. JAGad81901: Wrong result when using RWCRExpr/RWCString.
2. JAGad74141: Small Block Allocator for malloc
The aC++ runtime now automatically enables malloc's
Small Block Allocator (SBA) after this aCC runtime patch
and libc patch appropriate for your system are
installed. This improves heap performance.
You can disable this new feature by using the following:
export _M_SBA_OPTS=0:0:0
3. JAGad52502: ABI: HPT shlb007 shared lib dtors done in
wrong order on unload.
4. JAGaa73885: aC++ range table entries have wrong offset
for parms +DA2.0W, > 8 parms.
PHSS_22898:
1. JAGad30801: RWZoneSimple doesn't provide a valid DST
rule for Europe
2. JAGad30499: istrstream::seekg moves twice as far.
problem in 64 bit mode where array size is still 32 bit.
3. JAGad25172: workaround bug in libcl by testing if offset
fits in 32 bits.
4. JAGad36658: Inconsistent definition of mbstate_t,
requires roll for all customers using libstd_v2
to establish compatibility with the HPUX 11.11
runtime.
5. JAGad40631: Missing stubs in libstd would cause
unsats. Allow +I_main.
6. JAGad30844: -AA istrstream::seekg() moves twice
as far as specified.
7. JAGad41042: basic_*fstream::is_open shouldn't be
a const member function.

NOTE TO USERS OF THE NEWLY INTRODUCED ANSI C++ STANDARD
LIBRARY VERSION 2.0 (libstd_v2):
If you have used aC++ versions A.03.25 through A.03.27 with
the -AA option then you must install this patch.
If as an ISV you have shipped a library built WITH the -AA
option, please contact HP for further information. If as an
end user you have received and installed third party
libraries or applications built or compiled WITH the -AA
option, please contact HP for further information.
To determine whether your library/application uses -AA, run
the command
chatr <executable/runtime library> | grep libstd_v2
If the output of this command is NOT empty, your
library/application uses -AA.
This libstd_v2 roll is necessary to establish compatibility
with the definition of mbstate_t (multibyte support) in the
HPUX 11.11 runtime (libc).
If you install this patch you MUST recompile and relink any
applications built with the -AA option (and be sure your
software vendors have done so for their products).
Every development site (on A.03.25 through A.03.27) that
installs this patch MUST also install the header file patch
PHSS_22868. All aC++ applications built with the -AA option
on versions A.03.25 through A.03.27 must then be recompiled
and relinked. If this is not done, link time or run time
incompatibilities may result. See CR JAGad36658 above.

Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_24627
Symptoms:
PHSS_24627:
PHSS_22543:
1. JAGad30801: RWZoneSimple doesn't provide a valid DST
rule for Europe
2. JAGad30499: problem in 64 bit mode where array size
is still 32 bit.
3. JAGad25172: workaround bug in libcl by testing if offset
fits in 32 bits.
4. JAGad36658: Inconsistent definition of mbstate_t,
requires roll for all customers using libstd_v2
to establish compatibility with the HPUX 11.11
runtime.
5. JAGad40631: Missing stubs in libstd would cause
unsats. Allow +I_main.
6. JAGad30844: -AA istrstream::seekg() moves twice
as far as specified.
7. JAGad41042: basic_*fstream::is_open shouldn't be
a const member function.
PHSS_21906:
1. Support for -AA libraries.
PHSS_20055:
1. throw in unexpected doesn't destroy object, find catch
if bad_exception
2. SIGABRT on second rethrow (in catch)
3. Throw with nested try results in abort
4. Signal 6 if function with try/catch doesn't have exit at
bottom
5. libCsup compiled with +ESlit and linker +e to reduce
size.
6. nothrow new must catch bad_alloc and return 0
PHSS_16587:
1. RWCString::readLine(,true) doesn't set failbit
2. eofbit in istrstream not set correctly
3. Performance problem with STL vector
4. STL <functional> times should be replaced by multiplies
(<sys/times.h>)
5. Linking with libcma causes SIGBUS at runtime
PHSS_14577:
1. Can't handle global data whose size exceeds 32bit
representation
PHSS_13390:
1. Excessive memory usage with <list>, long compile times
too
2. iostream library doesn't perform new/delete correctly
3. RWTPtrSortedVector::index() doesn't return npos if not
found
4. RWTValHashDictionary must be replaced by RWTValHashMap
5. Memory leak with threads and libstd with string
6. const_iterator not implemented in container classes

7. JAGad41042: basic_*fstream::is_open shouldn't be
a const member function.
PHSS_21906:
1. Support for -AA libraries.
PHSS_20055:
1. throw in unexpected doesn't destroy object, find catch
if bad_exception
2. SIGABRT on second rethrow (in catch)
3. Throw with nested try results in abort
4. Signal 6 if function with try/catch doesn't have exit at
bottom
5. libCsup compiled with +ESlit and linker +e to reduce
size.
6. nothrow new must catch bad_alloc and return 0
PHSS_16587:
1. RWCString::readLine(,true) only sets eofbit upon EOF.
Using the ios::operator void*() does not return false in
this case. The following is never false.
while (f.readLine(,true))
2. When using istrstream to read numbers or a character
string at the end of the buffer, the setting of the eofbit
is inconsistent. With numbers eofbit is not set.
3. the std library container vector performance problem.
The execution time for insertion grows more than linearly
with number of elements, as required by standard.
4. me clash for "times" defined in system header
<sys/times.h> and non-standard conforming C++ standard
library header <functional>.
5. Executables linked with libcma receive SIGBUS before
reaching main().
PHSS_14577:
1. aCC should be able to compile programs that declare data
larger than what is representable in 32-bit mode when
compiling with +DA2.0W on a 64-bit 11.x OS.
PHSS_13390:
1. aCC consumes much memory for small lists or other small
containers this does not conform with the ANSI DRAFT.
2. The version of libCsup with patch PHSS_12609, A.01.07,
changed operators new[] and delete[] to no longer call the
non-array operators.
This change exposed a problem in libstream where there is a
mismatch in strstream and streambuf where operator new[] and
then operator delete is called.
3. The function RWTPtrSortedVector<T>::index() doesn't
return npos as documented, if it is < first element. It
returns 0 instead. If in between elements it returns
lower_bound.
4. The RogueWave documentation for tools.h++ template
RWTValHashDictionary template should mention that it has
four parameters.
5. Memory leak when using <string> with either threads
library, libcma or libpthread. This problem will occur on
10.20, 10.30 and 11.0 with various combinations of the two
leaks.
6. The following aCC program can't be compiled:
#include <map>
int main() { map<int, double> myMap;
map<int,double>::const_iterator i = myMap.begin();
double a = i->second;
// double a = (*i).second is ok! a = a * 2.5;
return 0; }
$ aCC main.c Error 185: "main.c", line 11 # Left side
of '->' requires a pointer to class; type found was
'class const_iterator'. double a = i->second

Special Installation Instructions:

Defect Description:
PHKL_25494:
( SR:8606218389 CR:JAGad87538 )
Spurious printf's fill up message buffer with
diagnostics messages.
Resolution:
The resolution is to change the way the printf's
are displayed. The code was changed so that the
put_chassis call that was failing would not
timeout and display its error messages. The
put_chassis call now functions asynchronously
rather than synchronously.
PHKL_24784:
( SR:8606198467 CR:JAGad67657 )
The CORE I/O card was incorrectly associated with cell 0 on
the u16000. If cell 0 is not configured the CORE I/O card
is not scanned, and the required CORE I/O devices are not
detected. The fact that some of these devices are not found
causes the init(1m) prcess to exit which results in a system
panic.
Resolution:
The CORE I/O card is now scanned even if cell 0 is not
configured.

Defect Description:
PHCO_24723:
mktime takes the timezone specifications from /usr/lib/tztab
file. Incase the application does a rapid switch between 2
invalid time zones then for each switch the tztab file is
accessed and searched for the required time zone. Hence for
each switch the file is read completely. This degrades the
performance of mktime.
Resolution:
The /usr/lib/tztab file is cached in memory local to the
process, the first time mktime is called, and each
subsequent call to mktime makes use of this cached data.
This approach reduces the number of disk read operations.
JAGad75245; SR 8606206070
delmntent libc routine deletes the entire contents if mntent
structure obtained from the call to getmntent was passed to

Resolution:
The defect is due to the returning of same global buffer by

being used in the delmntent libc call. The code has been
fixed to address the problem.
JAGad81071; SR 8606211883
regexec() does not handle multibyte characters correctly.
where the second byte of a multibyte SJIS character is
interpreted as stand alone single byte character.
Resolution:
For matching a pattern containing .* , .+ , regexec
traverses the entire length of the string and then
backtracks to find out whether it can match the remaining
part of the pattern. The backtracking logic currently
doesn't take the multi-byte scenario into consideration and
goes back byte by byte. In the case of a multi-byte
character with a valid character as a second byte, a match
is found for the second byte even though it is not a
stand-alone character and just forms part of a multi-byte
character. Now the code has been changed to take care of
multi-byte back tracking.

fail with signal 11.
Resolution:
Removed the shl_unload call for PA32 architecture in the
SO_per_src_delete function.

The defect was due to blocking the signals after locking the
malloc mutexes in the case of multi threaded malloc. When
malloc/calloc/valloc/realloc is called in signal handler and
also the main thread of execution and there are frequent
signals to application. The application becoming busy in
locking and unlocking the malloc mutexes resulting into
application hang situation.
Resolution:
Signals blocking is done before locking the mutexes. Which
avoids the too many mutex locks and unlocks.

mallinfo(3C) doesn't give correct memory statistics if the
application is multithreaded and uses multiple arenas. The
problem was introduced during multi arena enhancement. The
way mallinfo() designed works fine only for single arena,
but the problem starts when there are 2 or more arenas and
there is a overlapping brk value.
When multiple threads call malloc(3C) to allocate space,
each will be assigned an arena. Each arena will maintain
the start and end point of that arena. The arena_start
represents the starting heap address for this thread and the
end_arena represents the ending address. Assume 2 threads
are say THREAD1 and THREAD2 running in parallel. THREAD1
calls malloc(), malloc stores the the arena_start1(current
brk value say 0x1000 ) and extends the brk value to
predefined size and sets the end_arena1(0x4000), similarly
THREAD2(arena_start 0x4000, arena_end 0x8000). If THREAD1
again calls malloc() and there is no pre-allocated space in
the arena, the brk value is increased and arena_end will be
set( 0x12000).
The mallinfo() will collect the size by visiting each arena
starting from arena_start till arena_end of that arena. In
the above case arena_start and arena_end of THREAD1 is
0x1000 and 0x12000 respectively, for THREAD2 arena_start is
0x4000 and arena_end is 0x8000 respectively. While counting
the size, arena for THREAD2 will be counted 2 times, once
with arena1 and once with arena2. Hence the problem. In
single arena implementation this problem will not be
revealed.
Double counting is happening because we will modify the
dummy header when AClastbrk != _curbrk (AClastbrk <
_curbrk). The dummy header which had SIZE=0 and USED set,
will be set with the difference of _curbrk and AClastbrk in
the function grow_arena(). If the AClastbrk of one thread
is not equal to the _curbrk, the possibility is that either
user application called brk/sbrk or the function grow_arena
is called by some other thread. If the _curbrk value is
changed from some other thread by calling grow_arena() then
the other thread treats this as the user allocation and the
dummy header is modified appropriately and fixes the
arenaend for this thread.
The problem will be there if there is a overlap between the
brk values of the different arenas. So in the current
implementation USER_ID is used when
O The application directly calls brk/sbrk
O The other arena calls brk/sbrk (in grow_arena()
i.e. AClastbrk != _curbrk)
The problem is because of setting USER_ID when the other
arena calls brk/sbrk (in grow_arena() i.e. AClastbrk !=
_curbrk).
Resolution:
The resolution is basically to avoid the use of USER_ID when
the other arena calls brk/sbrk (in grow_arena() i.e.
AClastbrk != _curbrk). A new memory block identifier
ARENA_ID is defined in malloc.c as
#define ARENA_ID 0x13
The ARENA_ID is used to mark that the memory block is used
and it is used by some arena. The used memory block will be
marked with ARENA_ID under the circumstance mentioned below.
When a block of memory is used by some other arena and the
