obp.pdc - A fix was added to verify that the CPUs are all the
same speed and cache-line size before booting. In the
past autobooting was disabled if this happened, but the
machine was still allowed to boot.
spp.pdc - A fix was added that fixes booting from FC60 disk arrays.
spp.pdc - A fix was added that caused the path translation to fail
if the machine was booted from a SCSI disk when the
primary or alternate path was set to a tachlite fabric
path.
man page - man page update for leds.
diag_version - This product is updated for every patch.
* * * * * * * * IDENTIFY CURRENT VERSION OF FIRMWARE * * * * * * *
Prior to performing the firmware update, verify the current
version of your firmware, using the following steps:
Step 1. In a diagnostic window on the Test Station of your
system execute the following command:
diag_version
Identify the diagnostic revision. The output from the
above command should read:
Exemplar Diagnostics, Version 5.3
If not then do not proceed with this update.
* * * * * * * * * * * UPDATE PROCEDURE * * * * * * * * * * *
Step 1. If your system is at the OS level then shutdown the
system via the /etc/shutdown command to the OBP prompt.
When the system completes the shutdown process, either
the "Command: " or "[] ok " prompt should be displayed
in the console window.
If auto boot is still set the following message will be displayed:
Processor is starting the autoboot process.
To discontinue, press any key within 10 seconds.
Press any key in the node's console window. At the OBP command
prompt, enter auto boot off.
Command: auto boot off
Step 2. Login as root
NOTE: You will need to use a directory that has sufficient size to
hold patch. The procedure below uses /spp and the test station
hostname should be substituted for "hostname" below.
Step 3. The file PF_CV220531 will have to be unpackaged using:
sh PF_CV220531
Step 4. Enter the following swinstall command to install files:
The swinstall command should all be on one line.
/usr/sbin/swinstall -x mount_all_filesystems=false
-x select_local=true -s hostname:/spp/CV220531.sd PF_CV220531
Step 5. On the test station, run ts.install. This may be done
by issueing the command "/spp/scripts/inst/ts.install".
When ts.install completes reboot the test station with
an "/etc/reboot" command.
Step 6. If the "Command: " prompt is displayed and the node's
console is connected to the test station, execute the
firmware upgrade and initialization script. This script
will interface with test station utilities and OBP to
load the new firmware. The complex argument below is the
name assigned to the node via ts_config. You should be
root at the test station.
# /spp/scripts/fw_init
The firmware upgrade script automatically loads the new
POST firmware. If the script encounters an error, or the
node's console isn't connected to the test station, the
installation may have to be performed manually. If so,
consult the fw_install(1) man page for instructions.
Step 7. Verify that you have installed the firmware successfully.
Run diag_version, you should see this result:
Exemplar Diagnostics, Version 5.3.1
When the system is ready, the system banner should report
the following versions. This can also be verified with the
VE command from the Command: prompt.
PDC Firmware Version Information
PDC_ENTRY version 4.3.4.0
POST Revision: 5.3.0.0
OBP Release 4.3.4, compiled 01/08/03 10:29:10 (3)

| |
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This patch is a Firmware update for the HP9000 Model Dx90 and Rx90
systems.
The following features, fixes and enhancements appear in server
firmware revision 41.35:
Support has been added for the HSC A6684A Fibre Channel card. There
are significant restrictions imposed on the location of the A6684A
card when Graphics cards are in the server. The maximum number
of A6684A Fibre Channel cards per Dx90/Rx90 servers is 2. The first
Fibre Channel card must be installed in the Turbo Slot located at hardware
path 10/12. The second Fibre Channel card can be in any other GSC slot.
When the A6684A Fibre Channel card is installed in the server any graphics
cards installed cannot be in the Turbo Slot located at hardware path 10/12.
Boot and Dump are supported for the A6684A Fibre Channel Card. This
firmware will not search Fibre Channel Fabric for bootable images and that
support is not planned. When booting over Fibre Channel you must know the
full hardware path to the boot device.
