    Defect Description:
            PHSS_27767:
            - SR: R555018166
The SQL statement in metric 0210 was improved
            - SR: R555017504
the script "dbspi_fsfree" called by the collector is not
able to locate the database file then the script does not
send any text back to the collector and then we are stuck
              in an endless loop
code was changed to prevent an endless loop
            - SR: R555017316
the maximum open cursors for Oracle was changed
            - SR: 8606265369
metrics 0206, 0216 were rewrite to use low level tables
            - SR: R555018439
The signal SIGCLD is blocked now during the read from
              the pipe in ux_scriptcall, dbspi_arch_fsfree()
            - SR: R555018422
Add indicator to SQL statement to prevent the problem
with NULL value. Add UPPER function to SQL statement
              to prevent problem with comprasion.

            PHSS_27295:
            - SR: 8606250995
change all paths in the scripts and binaries.
            - SR: R555012800
The DB names have spaces in there name.
We will substitute the character '_' for a blank in
object names before sending them to VPO.
            - SR: R555013477
Modified function resolve_dest in filesys.pc to use the
appropriate values for ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID from
the ovam_data struct instead of trying to read them from
the registry. The registry is now only used as a
              fallback.
            - SR: R555015633
change paths after getting from registry
            - SR: R555015664
remove abundant messages and change message correlation
              procedure
            - SR: R555015698
librt.so.1 does not exist in Solaris 2.6
Build dbspicao90 on Solaris 2.6 build system instead of
              the 2.7 system.
            - SR: R555016942
Initialize variable, which are used in ESQL code

            3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.

            4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:

                    cd /tmp
                    sh PHSS_27767

5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the
                patch:

                    swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \
                            -s /tmp/PHSS_27767.depot

By default swinstall will archive the original software in
/var/adm/sw/patch/PHSS_27767. If you do not wish to retain a
copy of the original software, you can create an empty file
            named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE.

WARNING: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the
patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful
                     when using this feature.

It is recommended that you move the PHSS_27767.text file to
            /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference.

To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the
            tape drive, use the command:

                    dd if=/tmp/PHSS_27767.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k

    Special Installation Instructions:
            1) After installing this patch deploy actions, monitors,
commands with force update option on all managed nodes.

            2) For ORACLE SPI users only:
Metrics 0016 and 0216 were rewrited to use low level table
            in order to improve performance.
            - If you use a Oracle user, which was created
by Application "Create Oracle User", then you should
            recreate this user.
            - If you use system user for DBSPI and your database
contains locally managed tablespaces then you should
do the following grant as the sys user:
"grant execute on sys.dbms_space_admin to system"
            - You do not need to do it, if you use sys user
            for DBSPI.

            3) For users ORACLE SPI A.05.00.00 and earlier only:
            DESCRIPTION:
With this patch, metric 216 has changed from a Maximum
metric to a Minimum metric. For this reason, if the
existing template is not modified, alarms will not occur
until the number of extents for the segment drops
            to zero (0).
            HOW TO FIX:
            - The threshold type of the monitor DBSPI-0216 must be
changed from a "Maximum" to "Minimum".
            - The condition "DBSPI-0216.1" for this monitor must be
            changed as well:
            Set Threshold to: 100
Modify Message Text to: "DBSPI-0216.1: Number of extents
(<$VALUE>) left for <$OPTION(segment_name)> too low
            (\<=<$THRESHOLD> and \<=<$OPTION(cli_threshold)>) for
            database <$OPTION(dbname)>."
The reason for the threshold of value 100 is that DB-SPI
will not send the value to VPO/OVO unless the command line
threshold has been exceeded. The default command line
threshold is one (1). For example, the following two
commands operate in the same manner:
                  dbspicao -m 216 -c DBSPI-1h
                  dbspicao -m 216:1 -c DBSPI-1h
In both of these cases, an alarm will occur when there is
only 1 extent left. To alarm when 3 or less extens are
left, then change the command line threshold:
                  dbspicao -m 216:3 -c DBSPI-1h

    Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_27746

    Symptoms:
            PHSS_27746:
8606266737: 100% CPU utilization by pmd on WinNT.

8606266915: ovlauncher fails to display Chinese or Korean
            characters in the launcher window.

8606264074: Double clicking an alarm in the Alarm Browser
does not display the correct submap if the source of the
alarm appears in more than one submap in the IP Map submap
hierarchy. This problem is seen after the source is moved to
            a Location submap.

8606272817: Netmon exits on receipt of an invalid SNMP
            response.

8606266361: ipmap puts out messages like "ipmap : Could not
delete interface, network submap not found"

8606267983: ovactiond crashes when an event is configured as
, Don't log or display, and its additional action has a
            category as an argument.

8606254823: Display of the records in a generated report was
limited to the top ten rows.

8606261353: Cut and paste or drag and drop of a device from
the internet level submap into a location container causes
loss of connections inside the location container.

8606269552: snmp-commands cannot build the correct SNMP
packet when the length of the community name is greater than
            127 bytes.

8606272791: ovtrapd manual page does not include the 64KB
            trap enhancement.

8606264870: snmpCollect logs misleading error messages even
though the actual collection happens properly.

8606264777: In some cases, events do not match the source
            defined in trapd.conf.

8606270467: Scripts integrating ovbackup.ovpl were failing
with error messages after installation of the patch
            containing the new option '-t'.

8606270556: When NNM daemons are running in a different
locale other than C or Japanese, there is a possibility that
a directory with the current locale name is created under
$OV_WWW/htdocs. Under this circumstance the Release Notes
and Online manual menu item can fail.

8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
            updates" gives the incorrect information.

8606267361: xnmgraph exits, if the file provided as an
option to -mibFile contains more than 150 entries to
            graph.

8606246340: netmon is unable to handle the filter name when
a complete path name is provided for the discovery filter
instead of just the filter name.

            PHSS_27643:
Reports do not get generated, if double quotes exist in
            ifAlias value, for interfaces.

            PHSS_27640:
The map database may contain invalid symbols and submaps.
A symbol becomes invalid if its map object and
corresponding object in the object database are not
present. A submap becomes invalid if its parent map object
and the associated object in the object database do not
exist. Invalid symbols and submaps are not represented in
maps by ovw, but they lie unused in the map database.

            PHSS_27638:
http server process cannot handle bad HTTP request types
            correctly.

            PHSS_27625:
1.nodeView.ovpl is not displaying the created graphics if
an interface label has the special and/or non-printable
characters that must be escaped in XML. These characters
              include: & ' " < >. These special characters can come
from the interface alias, name or description.
2.On the content pane of 'View Scheduled Reports', there
is a table consisting of 'Report', 'Status',
and 'Schedule'. Contents of the table look good when the
window is opened. However, once the Reload,Stop or
Pause button is clicked, the contents of 'Schedule'
              column('daily' or 'month-to-date') is garbled.

            PHSS_27623:
A router is dragged and placed on a location symbol.
Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the same
router leads to ovw core dump.

            PHSS_27616:
Memory leak in xnmevents when it runs with filterByMap and
            filterByMapManaged options.

            PHSS_27614:
            ovactiond man page not clear.

            PHSS_27571:
Incorrect behaviour of xnmloadmib when MIBs were loaded
with the -trapType option , under the Japanese locale.

    Defect Description:
            PHSS_27746:
8606266737: A libovsnmp function was not handling improper
            length values while receiving packets.
            Resolution:
8606266737: The libovsnmp function was modified to handle
            improper length values correctly.

8606266915: ovlauncher failed to convert non-C and
            non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
            Resoluion:
8606266915 : Code has been implemented to convert non-C and
            non-Japanese strings to UTF8.

8606264074: The logic in ovw that determines the highest
submap in the IP Map hierarchy given a source object did not
            handle Location submaps.
            Resolution:
8606264074 : Code is added to handle Location Submaps when
an object appears in a Location Submap.

8606272817: SNMP response packet contained invalid
            error_index value.
            Resolution:
8606272817: Modified netmon to handle invalid SNMP
            responses.

8606266361: No useful information provided in the message
            for problem isolation.
            Resolution:
8606266361: Useful information, to assist in problem
isolation provided as a part of the message.

8606267983: A function call returns incorrect value for the
event belonging to category IGNORE (Don't log or Display),
which further causes ovactiond to crash.
            Resolution:
8606267983: Defective function was modified to return a
proper value for events belonging to IGNORE category.

8606254823: The number of records to be provided in a
configured report was being limited to a pre-configured
            value of ten.
            Resolution:
8606254823: Code has been modified to accept the value set
for the variable 'topn_count' in the file
$OV_ANALYSIS_CONF/global.conf and/or the value set for the
variable 'REPORT_TOPN' in the file request.properties
            ( nested in the $OV_REQUESTD_MAIN_PATH/requests
subdirectories ) associated with the configured report.

8606261353: The connections between the device and the other
end points of the connections are not preserved inside the
            location container.
            Resolution:
8606261353: ipmap's logic of handling deletion of objects
from a map was modified to preserve the connections inside
            the location container.

8606269552: When building the SNMP packet header, the length
of the community name is assumed to be less than 128 bytes.
            Resolution:
8606269552: Encoding the length of the community name in the
SNMP packet header has been modified to accept upto 255
            bytes.

8606272791: ovtrapd man page was not updated for 64KB trap
            enhancement.
            Resolution:
8606272791: ovtrapd man page has been updated to include the
            64KB trap enhancement.

8606264870: snmpCollect did not handle certain cases during
collection check which resulted in misleading error
            messages.
            Resolution:
8606264870: Code has been modified to handle those cases
which resulted in misleading error messages.

8606264777: The comparison routine was case sensitive.
            Resolution:
8606264777: The comparison routine is modified to be case
            insensitive.

            8606270467: ovbackup.ovpl accepts a timeout value for
ovresume. This value is passed to all the scripts that
execute ovresume. There could be certain scripts nested in
the $OV_CONF/ovbackup directory that may fail to recognise
the timeout value passed as a parameter, leading to the
            failure of that script.
            Resolution:
8606270467: In the ovbackup.ovpl script, the script
nnm_checkpoint.ovpl has been isolated to receive the
ovresume timeout value, while the other scripts or binaries
placed in the subdirectories of $OV_CONF/ovbackup ( if any )
            do not receive the value.

8606270556: Cannot find Release Notes or Manuals for non-C
            and non-Japanese locales.
            Resolution:
8606270556: Code has been modified to display the Release
Notes and Manuals in C locale on non-availability of the
            requested locale.

8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
updates" gives the erroneous product version information.
            Resolution:
8606271466: Product version information file has been
            updated.

8606267361: The buffer used to copy the entries in the file
was hardcoded to hold upto 150 entries.
            Resolution:
8606267361: Allocated the buffer to hold all the entries in
            the file.

8606246340: Insufficient buffer allocation for holding the
error message caused netmon to dump core instead of printing
            the error message.
            Resolution:
8606246340: The buffer was allocated suitably for holding
the error message. Hence netmon would now print the error
            message.

            PHSS_27643:
Double quotes in the ifAlias value for interfaces were not
handled in the report generation code.
            Resolution:
The code has been modified to handle double quotes in the
            ifAlias value.

            PHSS_27640:
The deletion of a symbol (or a submap) involves removing
the symbol (or submap) information, the map object and the
object in the object database. These three operations do
not happen as one single atomic operation. Invalid symbols
and submaps are left behind if ovw aborts after the
deletion of the map object and the object in the object
database, but before the removal of the symbol (or submap)
            information.
            Resolution:
The verbose option of ovw -mapcount is enhanced to do a
listing of invalid symbols and submaps. A new option '-c'
is provided with ovw -mapcount to clean such invalid
            symbols and submaps.

            PHSS_27638:
http server process was not handling the bad requests
            properly.
            Resolution:
Code has been added for handling the bad requests properly.

            PHSS_27625:
1.OVdrawNodes.pm was failing to encode XML-special
characters: <>'&". This was causing XML parsing errors.
2.This problem occurs when the server and the browser
              are running in different locales.
            Resolution:
1.Code has been changed in OVdrawNodes.pm to encode XML
              special and non-printable characters.
2.Code is implemented for the server and the browser to
              communicate with the UTF8 codeset.

            PHSS_27623:
submap is not removed from the router symbol's submap
list. Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the
same router causes NULL pointer access when previous
submap is dereferenced for the router symbol.
            Resolution:
ovw is modified to check for NULL pointer dereferencing
before accessing any submap for the symbol's submap list.

            PHSS_27616:
Memory allocated to a particular pointer was not freed
            properly.
            Resolution:
The allocated memory is now freed properly, at appropriate
            position.

            PHSS_27614:
ovactiond man page does not clearly explain what happens
in the case of multiple events occuring simultaneously.
            Resolution:
The man page is updated with the information about
ovactiond behaviour in the case of multiple events
            occuring simultaneously.

            PHSS_27571:
Loading of MIBs with the -trapType option was incorrectly
handled by xnmloadmib under the Japanese locale.
            Resolution:
Modified xnmloadmib to load the MIBs with the -trapType
            option under the Japanese locale.

At startup time all contexts/dlls are loaded.
On UX systems this needs ~2 seconds for each.
On top of that, ReadSubTree() is performed 3 times for

Selecting files for restore within interval that does
not include the full backup will trigger an error in
                the list_full_rest_chain function.

                will show a message:

all the sessions needed to compose a full restore
chain. Please reconnect to the Cell Server".

Mitsumi CDROM drives cause the previous versions of
IDE/ATAPI driver to panic the kernel. This patch
fixes this problem. This patch must be installed
before a system with Mitsumi CDROM drive is booted
                    up.

    Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/10.X/PHKL_27504

    Symptoms:
            PHKL_27504:
            (SR: 8606259281 CR: JAGae23599)
An HPMC can occur when attempting to boot from a half-height
DVD drive on current workstation models (B, C and J class
systems). The HPMC is dependent upon timing conditions
present during boot and may not occur with all kernels.
Changing the configuration of the kernel may eliminate the
            HPMC.

            (SR: 8606237066 CR: JAGae06113)
An HPMC can occur when attempting to boot from a half-height
DVD drive on current workstation models (B, C and J class
            systems).

            (SR: 8606251613 CR: JAGae17678)
When installing HP-UX from a CD-ROM media using the half-
height DVD drive on current workstation models (B, C and J
class systems), an error message similar to the following
appears: "ERROR: Cannot open source device:
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy (errno = 16). NOTE: Default
(boot) source does not appear to be a valid (or complete)
install source, switching source to Network."

            PHKL_24281:
            (SR: 8606198839 CR: JAGad68028)
Current IDE capable workstations do not support CD-RW
            drives.

            PHKL_22643:
            (SR: 8606157608 CR: JAGad26939)
Diskinfo (1M) coredumps or reports incorrect data for empty
CD-ROM drive (e.g. size, bytes per sector fields).

            PHKL_21855:
            (SR: 8606107138 CR: JAGab76832)
The message "side_if_start(): NOT IMPLEMENTED, scsi cmd:
0x4d" would be logged if diagnostics were run.

In addition, several other error messages might occur if
there was a very heavy CD-ROM and system load. These
messages include "DMA timeout", "Ktimeout on a DMA read",
"Failed to set up DMA bus master reg", etc.

            DTS# JAGab72940 SR# 8606105090
Mitsumi CDROM drive causes kernel panic on bootup.

            PHKL_17638:
This patch enables new functionality that is part of the
10.20 AC (Additional Core Enhancements) Workstation bundle,
            and J5000 systems.

    Defect Description:
            PHKL_27504:
            (SR: 8606259281 CR: JAGae23599)
Booting HP-UX from CD-ROM media using the HLDS half-height
DVD drive yields a High Priority Machine Check (HPMC). This
is caused by an unintended reset on the IDE bus.

            Resolution:
Some configuration of IDE channel 1 is now done before the
IDE bus is reset during boot.

            (SR: 8606237066 CR: JAGae06113)
Booting HP-UX from CD-ROM media using the HLDS half-height
DVD drive yields a High Priority Machine Check (HPMC). This
is caused by the driver's failure to allow enough time for
the drive to recover after a hardware reset.

            Resolution:
The driver now waits longer to access the drive following a
            hardware reset.

            (SR: 8606251613 CR: JAGae17678)
Installing HP-UX from CD-ROM media using the HLDS
half-height DVD drive yields a device busy error. This is
caused by the driver's failure to allow enough time for the
drive to recover after a hardware reset.

            Resolution:
The driver now waits longer to access the drive following a
            hardware reset.

            PHKL_24281:
            (SR: 8606198839 CR: JAGad68028)
The OS needs to be enhanced to support CD-RW drives.

            Resolution:
Support for CD-RW drives has been added to the HP-UX
            IDE/ATAPI driver.

            PHKL_22643:
            (SR: 8606157608 CR: JAGad26939)
The IDE driver buffers information. The buffer is not reset
when the drive is empty. With a CD in the drive, diskinfo
returns the correct capacity information. With no CD in the
drive, capacity information comes from the buffered data
(e.g. data from the last disk in the drive, if any).

            Resolution:
When the IDE driver detects that there is no media in the
drive, the capacity information is set to zero.

            PHKL_21855:
            (SR: 8606107138 CR: JAGab76832)
Instead of silently ignoring the "log sense" request issued
by diagnostics, the IDE driver logged the messages noted.

In addition, under some conditions, it is necessary to
re-read the IDE registers. The existing driver code to
retry the reads was determined to be incomplete, causing the
            other symptoms noted above.

            Resolution:
The "NOT IMPLEMENTED" message triggered by the "log sense"
request from diagnostics will no longer be issued, the
existing code to retry register reads was improved to
include reading a non-IDE register during the reread loop,
and an additional register will now be reread when needed.

Note: only workstations with IDE drives need this patch.

            PHKL_19786:
            DTS# JAGab72357 SR# 8606104808
New functionality to support HP VISUALIZE-fxe graphics.
            Resolution:
            Added the new functionality.

            DTS# JAGab11382
dd of a CD using raw device and 8K blocks ends in error.
            Resolution:
Fixed the way residual data is calculated at the end of a
            read.

            DTS# JAGab12903
mount command hangs on Toshiba CDROM drives.
            Resolution:
Added handling for a check condition on an Inquiry command
which is returned by Toshiba upon a media change. This is
an unusual case since Inquiry command does not normally
return check condition on media change.

            DTS# JAGab72943 SR# 8606105091
Reading more than 64KB in one read command hangs CDROM.
            Resolution:
This was caused by a limitation in the IDE DMA controller
which can not transfer more than 64K in a single transfer.
Added code to break single large DMA into multiple smaller
            ones.

            DTS# JAGab72940 SR# 8606105090
Mitsumi CDROM drive causes kernel panic on bootup.
            Resolution:
Mitsumi drive breaks the IDE norm of setting the cylinder
register to the number of bytes CPU should read for the
Inquiry command. There was an arbitrary large number left
in the cylinder register which caused CPU to read too much
data and cause an overflow. Added code to deal with this
            oddity.

            PHKL_17638:
New functionality to support the B1000, C3000, and J5000
            systems on HP-UX 10.20.
            Resolution:
Add new functionality for IDE/ATAPI CDROM.
