                            HP Support Information Digests

    ===============================================================================
    o Security Bulletin Digest Split
       ------------------------------

       The security bulletins digest has been split into multiple digests
       based on the operating system (HP-UX, MPE/iX, and HP Secure OS
       Software for Linux). You will continue to receive all security
       bulletin digests unless you choose to update your subscriptions.

       To update your subscriptions, use your browser to access the
       IT Resource Center on the World Wide Web at:

         http://support.itrc.hp.com/

       Under the Maintenance and Support Menu, click on the "more..." link.
       Then use the 'login' link at the left side of the screen to login
       using your IT Resource Center User ID and Password.

       Under the notifications section (near the bottom of the page), select
       Support Information Digests.

       To subscribe or unsubscribe to a specific security bulletin digest,
       select or unselect the checkbox beside it. Then click the
       "Update Subscriptions" button at the bottom of the page.

    o IT Resource Center World Wide Web Service
       ---------------------------------------------------

       If you subscribed through the IT Resource Center and would
       like to be REMOVED from this mailing list, access the
       IT Resource Center on the World Wide Web at:

         http://support.itrc.hp.com/

       Login using your IT Resource Center User ID and Password.
       Then select Support Information Digests (located under
       Maintenance and Support). You may then unsubscribe from the
       appropriate digest.

     ------------------------------------------------------------------
    PROBLEM: HP-UX 11.04 (VVOS) with Apache-Tomcat 3.2.x versions
              have a connector issue allowing potential unauthorized
              access to files.

    IMPACT: Potential unauthorized directory listing.

    PLATFORM: HP9000 Series 700/800 running HP-UX release 11.04
              (VVOS) only with any of the following products
              installed:

               HP-UX 11.04, Virtualvault A.04.50
               HP-UX 11.04, Virtualvault A.04.60

    SOLUTION: For HP-UX release 11.04 (VVOS), apply patches
              PHSS_27921 - for Virtualvault A.04.50 release,
              PHSS_27922 - for Virtualvault A.04.60 release.

              Also follow the recommendations given in the
              "Recommended solution" section below.

    MANUAL ACTIONS: Yes - NonUpdate
                    On HP-UX 11.04 only, If Tomcat 3.2.x is integrated
                    with either mod_jk or mod_jserv connectors, append
                    lines to configuration files as specified below.

    AVAILABILITY: Patches are available now on itrc.hp.com.

     ------------------------------------------------------------------
     A. Background
        Virtualvault A.04.50 and Virtualvault A.04.60 have been
        released with Tomcat 3.2.x, and Apache-Tomcat mod_jk and
        mod_jserv connectors for Tomcat 3.2.x versions. There
        is a potential defect in Tomcat 3.2.x versions. When the
        Tomcat server 3.2.x is accessed with a special URL, the
        contents of an inside directory will be listed.

     B. Recommended solution
        1. To avoid the vulnerability in the Tomcat server that
           is integrated with Virtualvault administration Apache
           web server, apply the following patches to the
           Virtualvault release specified.
              Virtualvault A.04.50 PHSS_27921
              Virtualvault A.04.60 PHSS_27922

        2. If Tomcat 3.2.x server is integrated with outside
           Apache web server using mod_jk connector, add the
           following lines at the end of the mod_jk configuration
           file of the Tomcat server.

              #
              # The following line prohibits users from
              # exploiting the directory listing vulnerability
              #
              <LocationMatch "/(%3f|\?)\.jsp">
                  AllowOverride None
                  Deny from all
              </LocationMatch>

           NOTE: The default mod_jk configuration file for the
                 Tomcat server that is integrated with the
                 outside web server is,
                 =
    "/var/opt/vaultTS/inside/app/tomcat/conf/mod_jk.conf-demo".

        3. If Tomcat 3.2.x server is integrated with outside
           Apache web server using mod_jserv connector, add the
           following lines at the end of the mod_jserv
           configuration file of the Tomcat server.

              #
              # The following line prohibits users from
              # exploiting the directory listing vulnerability
              #
              <LocationMatch "/(%3f|\?)\.jsp">
                  AllowOverride None
                  Deny from all
              </LocationMatch>

           NOTE: The default mod_jserv configuration file for the
                 Tomcat server that is integrated with the
                 outside web server is,
