Symptoms:
PHSS_28091:
8606249457: netmon can loop when performing config check
on a node which has some interfaces configured with
ifAlias and interface IP address configuration
changes are detected by netmon. Further netmon has
useIfAlias set to true.
8606248180: When IP addresses are changed on devices,
netmon does not reflect the latest configuration even
after performing config check.
8606273023: ipmap does not delete some symbols and
connections correctly.
PHSS_27916:
8606270618: ovw manual page is not updated with the
information for the new command line option -pollXServer.
8606275431: ovuispmd exits on ovstatus while an
ovw -mapcount is active.
8606271492: For some of the events, the information
regarding their second varbind is not properly
documented in trapd.conf.
8606271049: Description for the event
OV_DataColl_Agent_Restart is not correct in trapd.conf.
8606266330: Netmon core dumps when started with -S and -R
options.
8606228341: Expression Guru of snmpCollect does not check
all the variables in an expression when calculating the
direct expression for a given category of indirect
expression.
8606249375: xnmevents displays traps whose BER encoding
does not fully conform to X.209 standard.
8606276676: netmon man page shows garbage character "10".
8606241507: Level 2 status is not displayed as
described in the netmon manual page.
8606274196: netmon dumps core in the routine
fixSegProlifForNet.
8606276402: Searching symbols using ovw menu item "Find ->
Object by Attribute" with Pattern Matching enabled
returns "No symbols representing objects found" if the
chosen attribute is not a name field. This problem is
observed only when ovwdb is started with the "-n" option.
8606270823: SMS integration problem with NNM6.2.
8606268260: Incorrect handling of timestamp.
8606272237: NNM report templates in the patch NNM_00852
and its equivalent patches, were not being generated when
copied to the OVreporter directories.
PHSS_27866:
ovw, xnmevents, xnmgraph do not display Asian characters
correctly.
PHSS_27835:
8606274432: mmonitor daemon of NNM Multicast was not
starting after applying the patch PSOV_03184 or its
equivalents.
8606276721: The NNM ECS engine exits abnormally when using
ECS circuits provided by LOGEC.
8606276687: xnmgraph fails to start if the filename option
of the -mibFile parameter is not specified.

characters in the launcher window.
8606264074: Double clicking an alarm in the Alarm Browser
does not display the correct submap if the source of the
alarm appears in more than one submap in the IP Map submap
hierarchy. This problem is seen after the source is moved to
a Location submap.
8606272817: Netmon exits on receipt of an invalid SNMP
response.
8606266361: ipmap puts out messages like "ipmap : Could not
delete interface, network submap not found"
8606267983: ovactiond crashes when an event is configured as
, Don't log or display, and its additional action has a
category as an argument.
8606254823: Display of the records in a generated report was
limited to the top ten rows.
8606261353: Cut and paste or drag and drop of a device from
the internet level submap into a location container causes
loss of connections inside the location container.
8606269552: snmp-commands cannot build the correct SNMP
packet when the length of the community name is greater than
127 bytes.
8606272791: ovtrapd manual page does not include the 64KB
trap enhancement.
8606264870: snmpCollect logs misleading error messages even
though the actual collection happens properly.
8606264777: In some cases, events do not match the source
defined in trapd.conf.
8606270467: Scripts integrating ovbackup.ovpl were failing
with error messages after installation of the patch
containing the new option '-t'.
8606270556: When NNM daemons are running in a different
locale other than C or Japanese, there is a possibility that
a directory with the current locale name is created under
$OV_WWW/htdocs. Under this circumstance the Release Notes
and Online manual menu item can fail.
8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
updates" gives the incorrect information.
8606267361: xnmgraph exits, if the file provided as an
option to -mibFile contains more than 150 entries to
graph.
8606246340: netmon is unable to handle the filter name when
a complete path name is provided for the discovery filter
instead of just the filter name.
PHSS_27643:
Reports do not get generated, if double quotes exist in
ifAlias value, for interfaces.
PHSS_27640:
The map database may contain invalid symbols and submaps.
A symbol becomes invalid if its map object and
corresponding object in the object database are not
present. A submap becomes invalid if its parent map object
and the associated object in the object database do not
exist. Invalid symbols and submaps are not represented in
maps by ovw, but they lie unused in the map database.
PHSS_27638:
http server process cannot handle bad HTTP request types
correctly.
PHSS_27625:
1.nodeView.ovpl is not displaying the created graphics if
an interface label has the special and/or non-printable
characters that must be escaped in XML. These characters
include: & ' " < >. These special characters can come
from the interface alias, name or description.
2.On the content pane of 'View Scheduled Reports', there
is a table consisting of 'Report', 'Status',
and 'Schedule'. Contents of the table look good when the
window is opened. However, once the Reload,Stop or
Pause button is clicked, the contents of 'Schedule'
column('daily' or 'month-to-date') is garbled.
PHSS_27623:
A router is dragged and placed on a location symbol.
Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the same
router leads to ovw core dump.
PHSS_27616:
Memory leak in xnmevents when it runs with filterByMap and
filterByMapManaged options.
PHSS_27614:
ovactiond man page not clear.
PHSS_27571:
Incorrect behaviour of xnmloadmib when MIBs were loaded
with the -trapType option , under the Japanese locale.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28091:
8606249457: netmon merged a node into itself when some
interface IP address configuration changes were detected
on interfaces with ifAlias.
Resolution:
8606249457: netmon was modified to handle changes to
interface IP address configurations on interfaces with or
without alias.
8606248180: netmon was not able to handle changes to IP
addresses. The changes to IP addresses would hence not be
reflected even after a config check.
Resolution:
8606248180: netmon was modified to handle changes to IP
addresses and reflect them in the database.
8606273023:ipmap does not remove gateway symbols and their
connections from the Network and Segment submaps, if the
interface connecting the gateway to the network is removed
(loses its IP address) or changed (gets a new IP address).
Resolution:
8606273023: ipmap was modified to perform the cleanup.
PHSS_27916:
8606270618: The ovw manual page was not updated for the
introduced command line option -pollXServer.
Resolution:
8606270618: Manual page of ovw is modified to reflect the
new ovw command line option -pollXServer.
8606275431: ovw executing in command line mode does not
unregister on an exit. Incorrect handling of exit by
ovuispmd for an unregistered ovw client.
Resolution:
8606275431: ovuispmd has been modified to handle the exit
of unregistered ovw clients.
8606271492: Some of the events contain the hostname of the
node in the second varbind. This was not documented in the
trapd.conf file.
Resolution:
8606271492: The information for events which contain
hostname of node in the second varbind is now updated
in the trapd.conf file.
8606271049: Incorrect description of the
OV_DataColl_Agent_Restart event for snmpCollect.
Resolution:
8606271049: Description for the event
OV_DataColl_Agent_Restart in trapd.conf has been corrected.
8606266330: The '-S' and '-R' options of netmon are
mutually exclusive.
Resolution:
8606266330: The '-S' option was introduced for some
specific Cisco routers which are now obsolete. Hence, the
option has been deprecated.
8606228341: Expression Guru of snmpCollect was not querying
all the variables on the agent and hence not verifying
before deciding the direct expressions.
Resolution:
8606228341: Code has been added to expression guru of
snmpCollect to query and verify all the related mib
variables in the percenterrors category before deciding the
direct expressions.
8606249375: One of the decoding routines in libovsnmp did
not handle a particular case.
Resolution:
8606249375: The decoding routine in libovsnmp is corrected.
8606276676: netmon man page had formatting errors.
Resolution:
8606276676: netmon man page has been corrected with the
right formatting.
8606241507: Incorrect description of Level 2 status in the
netmon manual page.
Resolution:
8606241507: netmon man page has been changed to provide
the right explanation for Level2 status.
8606274196: Incorrect handling of segment reduction by
netmon.
Resolution:
8606274196: netmon has been modified to handle secondary
version of network objects.
8606276402: When ovwdb is started with the "-n" option,
only a subset of the objects as specified with the "-n"
option is cached in memory. When a search is made on an
attribute only the cached objects were checked. If
there were objects in the database with that attribute
value but which were not present in the cache, ovwdb never
returned these objects to ovw.
Resolution:
8606276402: ovwdb has been modified to search the database
for non-cached objects.
8606270823: NNM is displaying incorrect error message text
when integrated with SMS.
Resolution:
8606270823: Error message text has been modified.
8606268260: Incorrect behavior of NNM , when integrated
with OVO, on Windows.
Resolution:
8606268260: Code has been modified to handle timestamp.
8606272237: NNM database and the table owner name were
being prefixed to the table name in all the generated
reports, leading to OVreporter not locating the tables.
This led to error in report generation.
Resolution:
8606272237: Report templates have been modified to remove
the database and the table owner name prefixes from the
table name.
PHSS_27866:
ovw, xnmevents or any gui application needs locale
specific resource file to show correct fonts. For Chinese,
Korean or any Asian character display, these locale
specific resource files are missing.
Resolution:
Locale specific resource files have been provided in the
patch. These files will get installed into $OV_NEW_CONF
directory and then later they will be copied under
directory /usr/lib/X11/$LANG/app-defaults/, where the GUI
applications look for it. $LANG refers to locale name in
which GUI applications are running. This patch provides
the resource files for ko_KR.eucKR, zh_CN.hp15CN, and
zh_TW.big5 locales.
PHSS_27835:
8606274432: The thread's stack limitation was causing the
mmonitor to incorrectly handle the local buffers defined in
libovsnmp.
Resolution:
8606274432: libovsnmp has been modified to allocate the
local buffers from the heap memory.
8606276721: A problem with the usage of the dictionary
resulted in the abnormal exit of the ECS engine.
Resolution:
8606276721: Code was modified to fix the problem in the
dictionary.
8606276687: An assumption was made as to the existence of
the file that has to be provided with the -mibFile option.
Resolution:
8606276687: Validated the existence of the file before
processing it.
PHSS_27746:
8606266737: A libovsnmp function was not handling improper
length values while receiving packets.
Resolution:
8606266737: The libovsnmp function was modified to handle
improper length values correctly.
8606266915: ovlauncher failed to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
Resoluion:
8606266915 : Code has been implemented to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
8606264074: The logic in ovw that determines the highest
submap in the IP Map hierarchy given a source object did not
handle Location submaps.
Resolution:
8606264074 : Code is added to handle Location Submaps when
an object appears in a Location Submap.
8606272817: SNMP response packet contained invalid
error_index value.
Resolution:
8606272817: Modified netmon to handle invalid SNMP
responses.
8606266361: No useful information provided in the message
for problem isolation.
Resolution:
8606266361: Useful information, to assist in problem
isolation provided as a part of the message.
8606267983: A function call returns incorrect value for the
event belonging to category IGNORE (Don't log or Display),
which further causes ovactiond to crash.
Resolution:
8606267983: Defective function was modified to return a
proper value for events belonging to IGNORE category.
8606254823: The number of records to be provided in a
configured report was being limited to a pre-configured
value of ten.
Resolution:
8606254823: Code has been modified to accept the value set
for the variable 'topn_count' in the file
$OV_ANALYSIS_CONF/global.conf and/or the value set for the
variable 'REPORT_TOPN' in the file request.properties
( nested in the $OV_REQUESTD_MAIN_PATH/requests
subdirectories ) associated with the configured report.
8606261353: The connections between the device and the other
end points of the connections are not preserved inside the
location container.
Resolution:
8606261353: ipmap's logic of handling deletion of objects
from a map was modified to preserve the connections inside
the location container.
8606269552: When building the SNMP packet header, the length
of the community name is assumed to be less than 128 bytes.
Resolution:
8606269552: Encoding the length of the community name in the
SNMP packet header has been modified to accept upto 255
bytes.
8606272791: ovtrapd man page was not updated for 64KB trap
enhancement.
Resolution:
8606272791: ovtrapd man page has been updated to include the
64KB trap enhancement.
8606264870: snmpCollect did not handle certain cases during
collection check which resulted in misleading error
messages.
Resolution:
8606264870: Code has been modified to handle those cases
which resulted in misleading error messages.
8606264777: The comparison routine was case sensitive.
Resolution:
8606264777: The comparison routine is modified to be case
insensitive.
8606270467: ovbackup.ovpl accepts a timeout value for
ovresume. This value is passed to all the scripts that
execute ovresume. There could be certain scripts nested in
the $OV_CONF/ovbackup directory that may fail to recognise
the timeout value passed as a parameter, leading to the
failure of that script.
Resolution:
8606270467: In the ovbackup.ovpl script, the script
nnm_checkpoint.ovpl has been isolated to receive the
ovresume timeout value, while the other scripts or binaries
placed in the subdirectories of $OV_CONF/ovbackup ( if any )
do not receive the value.
8606270556: Cannot find Release Notes or Manuals for non-C
and non-Japanese locales.
Resolution:
8606270556: Code has been modified to display the Release
Notes and Manuals in C locale on non-availability of the
requested locale.
8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
updates" gives the erroneous product version information.
Resolution:
8606271466: Product version information file has been
updated.
8606267361: The buffer used to copy the entries in the file
was hardcoded to hold upto 150 entries.
Resolution:
8606267361: Allocated the buffer to hold all the entries in
the file.
8606246340: Insufficient buffer allocation for holding the
error message caused netmon to dump core instead of printing
the error message.
Resolution:
8606246340: The buffer was allocated suitably for holding
the error message. Hence netmon would now print the error
message.
PHSS_27643:
Double quotes in the ifAlias value for interfaces were not
handled in the report generation code.
Resolution:
The code has been modified to handle double quotes in the
ifAlias value.
PHSS_27640:
The deletion of a symbol (or a submap) involves removing
the symbol (or submap) information, the map object and the
object in the object database. These three operations do
not happen as one single atomic operation. Invalid symbols
and submaps are left behind if ovw aborts after the
deletion of the map object and the object in the object
database, but before the removal of the symbol (or submap)
information.
Resolution:
The verbose option of ovw -mapcount is enhanced to do a
listing of invalid symbols and submaps. A new option '-c'
is provided with ovw -mapcount to clean such invalid
symbols and submaps.
PHSS_27638:
http server process was not handling the bad requests
properly.
Resolution:
Code has been added for handling the bad requests properly.
PHSS_27625:
1.OVdrawNodes.pm was failing to encode XML-special
characters: <>'&". This was causing XML parsing errors.
2.This problem occurs when the server and the browser
are running in different locales.
Resolution:
1.Code has been changed in OVdrawNodes.pm to encode XML
special and non-printable characters.
2.Code is implemented for the server and the browser to
communicate with the UTF8 codeset.
PHSS_27623:
submap is not removed from the router symbol's submap
list. Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the
same router causes NULL pointer access when previous
submap is dereferenced for the router symbol.
Resolution:
ovw is modified to check for NULL pointer dereferencing
before accessing any submap for the symbol's submap list.
PHSS_27616:
Memory allocated to a particular pointer was not freed
properly.
Resolution:
The allocated memory is now freed properly, at appropriate
position.
PHSS_27614:
ovactiond man page does not clearly explain what happens
in the case of multiple events occuring simultaneously.
Resolution:
The man page is updated with the information about
ovactiond behaviour in the case of multiple events
occuring simultaneously.
PHSS_27571:
Loading of MIBs with the -trapType option was incorrectly
handled by xnmloadmib under the Japanese locale.
Resolution:
Modified xnmloadmib to load the MIBs with the -trapType
option under the Japanese locale.

========================================================
PHSS_27916:
This patch deliver changes to the file $OV_CONF/
$LANG/trapd.conf.
As the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file may have been
customized, this patch installs the new copy of trapd.conf
under the $OV_NEW_CONF directory. This ensures that the
active copy of trapd.conf under $OV_CONF directory is not
overwritten.
If the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file was not customized,
the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file can be overwritten with
the trapd.conf file under the $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-
MIN/conf/$LANG directory.
However any customizations done to the $OV_CONF/
$LANG/trapd.conf file will need to be merged with the
trapd.conf file under the $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-MIN/conf/
$LANG directory before a new copy can be installed as
$OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf.
PHSS_27866:
Since $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf is a user modifiable
resource file, patch installation will not over write it.
So after the patch installation, user has to copy or merge
the $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-MIN/app-defaults/$LANG/trapd.conf
to $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf.

Automatic Reboot?: No
Status: General Release
Critical: No
Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_27683
Symptoms:
PHSS_27683:
- SR: H555007666
mailq_l.sh does not count mails correctly.
- SR: H555008553
- itochecker was able to collect only information from
the management server. There was no possibility to
collect information from the managed nodes.
- SR: 8606188071
- HACMP version 4.4.1 is not supported
- SR: 8606189243
Utility for checking basic types of communication
between ito server and agents is missing.
- SR: 8606227840
Variables in the template default message key are not
resolved for unmatched messages.
- SR: 8606233602
If using a pattern like '<*.prefix>ERR<*.suffix>', the
prefix variable will get assigned a wrong text if it
should be empty.
- SR: 8606242614
Messages are incorrectly suppressed by the logfile
encapsulator if "suppress identical output messages" is
specified and the messages differ only in the values of
<$LOGFILE> and/or <$LOGPATH>.
- SR: 8606244523
When using the syntax <`script`> in the logfile template
and the script returns the same logfile name twice, the
opcle will abort.
- SR: B555007980
Local automatic actions are started immediately, even
though the agent MSI is enabled in divert mode and the
Immediate Local Automatic Action box is not checked.
- SR: B555008838
The event correlation engine creates a "Time cannot go
backwards" error if the system is very busy.
- SR: B555009155
The event correlation process opceca (agent) / opcecm
(server) might crash after processing several annotation
nodes.
- SR: B555010341
The agent may not start automatically after a reboot, but
starting the agent manually works without a problem.
- SR: B555010955
Even if you used opcswitchuser.sh to specify a non-root
user which should run the ITO agent, it will still be
started as user root after a system reboot.
- SR: B555011990
The ECS event log (ecevilg) has an invalid time
difference to the next message which can cause the ECS
simulator to hang or appear to hang when loading an event
log file with such values.
- SR: B555012929
If you run opcdista from commandline, you don't get any
useful messages, only the internal status letters.
For supportability, it would be better to have
some explicit status and error reporting.
- SR: B555013371
Sometimes the new scheduled action template configuration
is not loaded after a distribution. Instead, the old
scheduled actions are still started.
- SR: B555013719
Message agent doesn't stop message buffering when the
management server is available again after a network
outage, fixed DNS problem or similar.
This can happen when the agent restarts/the machine
reboots during the network problem occured.
- SR: B555013794
The current directory should be removed from the agent's
environment PATH. That way only files can be executed
that are either specified with the full path or the path
is explicitly specified in the PATH.
- SR: B555013891
In MoM environments, opcmsga does not return action
responses to SECONDARY managers, if their name is not
resolveable.
- SR: B555014093
opcmona may crash (UNIX) or doesn't process all SCHEDULE
templates (Windows) when using SCHEDULE templates.
- SR: B555014132
During a distribution the agent may report an error like:
ITO responsible manager configuration. (OpC30-1203)
Cannot open file \usr\OV\tmp\OpC\cfgchg.
System Error Number: 13 (d) - The data is invalid.
(OpC20-63)
- SR: B555014215
The port should be configurable where opctrapi listens
for incoming traps.
- SR: B555014245
Traps of size greater than 5 Kb not handled properly by
opctrapi if local trap interception is used.
PHSS_26327:
- SR: H555006719
If the agent is running as a non-root user, when the
management server processes are restarted, the agent has
to be restarted, else messages are buffered.
- SR: H555006739
After agent installation internal messages are sent with
wrong codeset.
- SR: 8606180891
The template default for the service name is not used.
- SR: 8606181988
The trap interceptor does not forward on
"forward unmatched" if a "suppress unmatched" condition
is used in a second template.
- SR: 8606213476
The distribution to nodes may hang or fail. This is more
likely to happen while distributing to Windows NT/2000
nodes rather than on UNIX nodes. On Windows NT/Windows
2000 nodes the control agent may produces a Dr. Watson
error.
- SR: 8606222554
Certain policies in VPW do not work as expected, for
example:
VP_WIN-WINS-FwdAllInformation
VP_WIN-WINS-FwdAllWarnError
VP_WIN-DHCPCl_FwdAllInfo
VP_WIN-DHCPCl_FwdAllWarnError
This problem can also occur for VPO during condition
matching. Matching the application and object attributes
is now case sensitive. For example, a message with
application "TEST" is matched but application "tEST" is
unmatched.
- SR: 8606235715
VPO 6.x does not support AIX 5.1
- SR: B555008220
The <$MSG_TIME_CREATED> variable is not substituted in
the message template.
- SR: B555009745
The template default of the object field of a monitor
template is not used.
- SR: B555010620
Some messages are missing in the Japanese message
catalogue. You get a Cannot generate message error.
- SR: B555010966
A message key relation containing <*> does not always
match message keys correctly. This results in messages
not being acknowledged when they should.
- SR: B555011184
opcagt fails to start opcctla if it is started as
./opcagt and /opt/OV/bin/OpC is not in the search PATH
- SR: B555011594
The original message text of a logfile encapsulator
message is wrong if <$LOGPATH> or <$LOGFILE> is used.
- SR: B555011638
The pattern matching cannot match the new line
character(s) of multiline messages.
- SR: B555011979
The pattern matching hangs if only single byte Japanese
HANKAKU KANA characters are used.
- SR: B555013435
The message agent opcmsga hangs unpredictably. This is
more likely to happen on systems with a very high ICMP
traffic.
- SR: B555013495
In Japanese environments programs using the agent APIs
can fail with errors on invalid or incompatible codesets.
- SR: B553000162
After opcagt -stop, opcagt -status does tell that the
control agent does not run although it is running and
sometimes you get following error in the message browser:
ouput of kill -0 differs from internal pids-table for
index <number> (OpC30-1094)
PHSS_24920:
- SR: B555010879
opctrapi aborts during template distribution if
conditions with the 'Suppress Identical Output Messages'
features are used.
- SR: B555010899
opcdista requests distribution data from a wrong manager
if there is a secondary manager with the same short
hostname than the appropriate primary manager.
- SR: B555010948
Nested alternatives were not handled correctly in the
pattern matching algorithm, e.g. the pattern '[a|b]c|d'
was handled like '[a|b|d]c'.
- SR: B555010980
Traps without a SNMP variable are not matched because
server patch adds an extra attribute to the template.
PHSS_22887:
- Changes were required for the security add-on product
VantagePoint Advanced Security.
- Applications using Window (Input/Output) presentation
does not work.
- The opctrapi might abort with OpC30-104
- Possible system issues when agent tracing is on.
- Agent wont start if LANG variable is different than C.
- Problems with allowed port range.
- In case of an error the ITO Agent might hang
during startup without terminating
PHSS_22257:
- Agent needs better handling for firewall environments.
- When executing large numbers of autoactions, some of them
were staying in 'running' state.
- opctrapi aborts after getting traps with unresolvable IP
address.
- The handling of '\' was different in the pattern
definition and the "matching pattern".
- the opcmsga reported Message Receiver service not
registered even if the connection to the server was ok
- running a VBScript-tool on a unix node gave a strange
error message
- if buffer file size limitation is enabled the agent may
discard low-severity messages even if there is still
space in the buffer file
Defect Description:
PHSS_27683:
- SR: H555007666
Output of sendmail been changed. So the regular
expression
need to be modified.
- SR: H555008553
Resolution:
- itochecker_agt and its configuration file
itochecker_agt.conf were introduced.
- SR: 8606188071
- HACMP version 4.4.1 is now supported
- SR: 8606189243
Basic ICMP check, TCP chack and SNMP check is needed.
- SR: 8606242614
The variables <$LOGFILE> and <$LOGPATH> were replaced
after the suppression rules were evaluated. Therefore the
comparison did not use the actual logfile name or path,
but compared the string "<$LOGFILE>" or "<$LOGPATH>".
- SR: 8606244523
The opcle aborts when a <`script`> returns a logfile name
twice. This is because of referencing and handling the
same file twice.
To fix this, the opcle checks whether the same logfile
has been returned already and when adding to the internal
list, each logfile gets added exactly once.
- SR: B555010341
When the process ID of the 'opcctla -start' is the same
as of the running opcctla before the shutdown, the
internal logic concluded that the agent is already
running and did not start up the subprocesses.
- SR: B555010955
The non-root user is added to the startup configuration
file but not used.
- SR: B555012929
The opcdista communicates with the opcctla process via
stdin/stdout so if you run it from commandline, you only
see the status letters but don't know what they mean.
The new '-v' option prints more output, e.g.:
$ ./opcdista -v
0 - No distribution data available.
- SR: B555013719
Message agent remains in buffering mode even when
the management server is available again.
The reason is that the agent wasn't able to resolve
the management server name to an IP address at startup
and the agent doesn't try again during runtime.
This has been fixed by checking for a resolvable name
every time a message should be buffered till the name can
be resolved, after this the normal checkalive mechanism
which handles buffered message takes place.
- SR: B555013891
Even if the IP address of the management server was
specified in the mgrconf file, it was not used except for
the primary manager. This behaviour was changed to give
the mgrconf file precedence over name resolution.
- SR: B555014093
opcmona may crash (UNIX) or doesn't process all SCHEDULE
templates (Windows) when using SCHEDULE templates.
This can occur when there are only spaces in
one of the schedule fields (Minute, Hour, Day of the
Month, Month, Year, Day of the Week).
You can verify this by going to the conf/OpC directory on
the node and doing an opcdcode monitor. When
there are entries like WEEKDAY " " the problem can occur.
Now the monitor agent treats sequences of spaces like
an empty string that is a wildcard and uses all valid
values in the possible range.
For WEEKDAY this is 0-6.
- SR: B555014132
During a distribution the agent may report error number
OPC30-1203/OPC20-63 when trying to access the cfgchg
file.
The cause for this problem is that there are several
processes trying to get exclusive access to this file
at the same time. The problem has been fixed by doing a
retry for 10 times in case the error should occur with a
delay of one second.
- SR: B555014215
Using the new opcinfo variable SNMP_TRAP_PORT <port_num>
opctrapi can now be configured to listen on another port
than 162. This is only effective, if traps are not
received through the NNM pmd.
PHSS_26327:
- SR: H555006719
When a communication to a message receiver fails, the
message agent starts buffering messages. It periodically
checks if a server is alive by sending it ICMP packets.
If the server cannot be reached with ICMP packets, no RPC
communication is attempted. Sending ICMP packets is not
possible when the agent is running as a non-root user, so
the sending function cannot actually send anything.
Therefore we also never receive any replies and the
message agent will buffer messages forever. To fix this,
the internal state of the message agent is updated after
we tried to send an ICMP packet if the agent is running
as a non-root user.
- SR: H555006739
Fixed agent installation so that agents are started with
right locale settings.
- SR: 8606213476
While the agent receives several RPC calls, like "Start
Distribution", "Execute Action" or "Set Primary Manager"
in parallel, it may happen that the call results in a
conflict within the control agent, which causes the
control agent to bring a Dr. Watson window.
This conflict can also occur on UNIX but the control
agent doesn't die, rather the RPC request may fail.
With this version the RPC calls which could cause
conflicts are serialised.
- SR: 8606222554
The condition test for the message attributes
application, object and message group are always done
case sensitive, therefore a message with the application
"TEST" matches but "tEST" does not match.
With this patch an opcinfo flag is introduced, which
allows to switch between case sensitive and case
insensitive check.
flag : OPC_COND_FIELD_ICASE
type : boolean
default: FALSE
By setting this to true the policies mentioned above will
work.
- SR: 8606235715
Added support for AIX 5.1
- SR: B555010966
The processing of the key relation is wrong for the log
file encapsulator. The problem is that all unresolved
entries followed by a resolved entry are removed.
Other unresolved entries are kept as is.
- SR: B555011184
The working directory for the ITO agent was changed
from /opt/OV/bin/OpC to /tmp to avoid problems if
the agent is running in an MC/SG environment.
- SR: B555011638
The pattern matching could not match the new line
character(s) of multi line messages. The following
changes have been made to allow this:
It is now possible to use ^M (\r) as a field separator.
A new pattern </> was introduced to match any number of
line breaks (UNIX style \n or NT style \r\n). <n/> will
match exactly n line breaks, for example <1/> will match
exactly one line break.
This change works only for sources that already can
create multi line messages (for example opcmsg or NT
event log), it does not allow multi line logfile
encapsulation.
This change requires changes for management server and
agent. Therefore a patch for the management server and
a patch for the agent is required to use the new
functionality.
- SR: B555013435
One thread tried to read from a socket while another
thread closed it. This could happen due to missing
locking of global data. This data is now guarded by a
mutex.
- SR: B555013495
When tracing was added to the API functions a necessary
NLS initialisation was not done. This problem was
introduced only by the A.06.10 patches for HPUX.

Special Installation Instructions:
(A) Patch Installation Instructions
-------------------------------
(A1) Install the patch, following the standard
installation instructions.
For backing up the system before installing
a patch, you may use opc_backup(1m)
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT NO AGENT OF THE PLATFORM
ADDRESSED BY THIS PATCH IS DISTRIBUTED
(either from the VPO Administrator's GUI
or from command line using inst.sh) WHILE
RUNNING SWINSTALL.
Don't be afraid of the '-x autoreboot=true'
option above. There won't be a reboot due
to this VPO patch.
You can skip this option if you like.
If you are running VPO in a MC/ServiceGuard
installation:
- Note, that only files on the shared disk volume
at /var/opt/OV/share will be patched. Therefore
install the patch on one cluster node while the
shared disks are mounted. The server processes
may be running during patch installation.
- It is not necessary to install this patch on all
cluster nodes. Even if the software inventory on
the other cluster nodes will not be updated, the
patched files will be available there when the
shared disk is switched to them.
NOTE: This patch must be installed on the VPO Management
Server system, NOT on an VPO Managed Node directly.
Changes will take effect on managed nodes by means of
VPO Software Distribution (using 'Force Update' if
there is already an agent installed on the managed
node). See chapter 2 of the VPO Administrator's
Reference manual for more information.
(B) Patch Deinstallation Instructions
---------------------------------
(B1) To deinstall the patch PHSS_27683 run swremove:
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT NO AGENT OF THE PLATFORM
ADDRESSED BY THIS PATCH IS DISTRIBUTED (either
from the ITO Administrator's GUI or from
command line using inst.sh) WHILE RUNNING
SWREMOVE.
If you are running VPO in a MC/ServiceGuard
installation make sure to mount the shared
disks at the node and only at the node that
had them mounted during patch installation.
Otherwise restoration of the original files
onto the shared disk will fail.

Create Entitlement does not work with SSL and
systems identified by ip addresses.
8. Symptoms for SR # 4701387225
The performance of Authu was increased.
9. Symptoms for SR # 4701387746
Customer needs to monitor authu heap usage so that
authu can be stopped and restarted before the
authu memory leak (see SR#4701353524) causes
authu to abort.
10. Symptoms for SR # 4701387738
When Pr/AS engine is running on a K260 HP 9000 with
4 CPUs, inquiries against the Informix runtime database
begin to fail or return false information. The only
solution is to shut down the engine and restart.
11. Symptoms for SR # 4701380162
When the Create Puser Callout facility is used in the
Administrative GUI Create Principal page to insert a
ppid value greater than 117 bytes in length, the
Administrative GUI cgi program aborts without
creating the principal.
12. Symptoms for SR # 4701380170
In Authorization Server version A.02.00, the
odss_inq*() APIs return a 0 (granted) when privilege
records are requested by none are returned
(count=0). Beginning with Authorization Server
version A.02.10, beginning with patch PHSS_12681,
the odss_inq* APIs return a nonzero value (denied)
when privilege records are requested but none are
returned.
13. Symptoms for SR # 4701380154
The hardware and software requirements documented in
the version A.02.10 Release Notes (pn B5196-90010)
for the Authorization Server Engine are inadequate
to support the optimal performance of the Engine in
a realistic production environment. Also, the current
Informix database created during product configuration
is too small to support a realistic production
environment.
14. Symptoms for SR # 4701380147
The performance of the Authorization Server Engine
administrative functions to create and enable
principals decreases as the number of principals
in the runtime Informix database increases.
15. Symptoms for SR # 4701380188
The performance of odss*_inq_*() API calls decrease
as the number of principals in the runtime Informix
database increases.
Defect Description:
PHSS_27903:
1. Defect description for SR # 8606278765
Recursive function used to free the binary tree causes
authu server to crash.
Resolution:
1. Resolution for SR # 8606278765
Recursive function is replaced with iteration at top
and followed by recursion at one layer below.
PHSS_16143:
1. Defect description for SR # 4701398883
Too many priv rows were being retrieved unnecessarily,
so time was being wasted filtering these extra priv
rows. The problem was exacerbated because the buffer
used to handle the retrieved results was too small.
PHSS_15579:
1. Defect description for SR # 4701395210
This Enhancement enables use of authu_batch in cron
jobs. It does so by creating a principle and
corresponding keytab file with privileges to run
authu_batch. Details can be found on the 2 new Man
pages that are part of this patch:
ODSS_create_keytab.8 and ODSS_delete_keytab.8
(Also, Man page authu_batch.1 was modified.)
Also, 2 new scripts are included with this patch:
ODSS_create_keytab and ODSS_delete_keytab
- these can be used to create and delete the
principal and corresponding keytab file.
2. Defect description for SR # 4701395228
An enhancement was done earlier to allow use of
double-quoted characters in authu_batch commands.
All commands were modified except modify_profile
which was missed - this patch corrects that omission.
3. Defect description for SR # 4701395236
After PHSS_14593 was installed, it was found that the
value of the enable entitlement flag was not being
shown correctly in the admin GUI or when checked using
authu_batch. This did not impact successful running of
Pr/AS (entitlements were Enabled even if they showed as
Disabled), but it caused confusion administering Pr/AS.
The fix causes the value of the flag to be correctly
reported.
PHSS_15464:
1. Defect description for SR # 4701392464
The authu_batch command, when processing a request
to either create or enable a principal that contains
a large number of privilege rows, will time out before
the transaction is completed. This occurs for three
primary reasons:
* The overhead associated with the large number of
runtime database transactions.
* The excessive number of Level 3 business checks
with authpd for each database transaction.
* The excessive number of self-view status requests
made by authu_batch during each transaction.
2. Defect description for SR # 4701392472
The authpd daemon experiences a memory leak problem
whenever a request from administrative interfaces
(authu_batch or Admin GUI) results in large numbers
of transactions. Eventually, the authpd heap reaches
the maximum size defined by the kernel parameter
maxdsiz (default is 67 Mb) and is unable to process
any further inquiry or evaluation requests due to
memory allocation errors, returning nothing but
"authorization denied" error messages. In addition,
when authu_batch is run with an input file containing
more than 40 Kb characters in contiguous and related
authu_batch commands against a particular object
(entitlements, profiles, or principals), authu_batch
will fail.
PHSS_15003:
1. Defect description for SR # 4701390054
A string length max of 24 characters is used in many
places in the product, including the variables that pass
DCE ERA parm names. Since PRIN_DISABLE_TIME INTERVAL and
PRIN_MAX_INVALID_ATTEMPTS are literals with more than 24
characters, they are truncated to 24 characters,
causing errors when other code attempts to compare the
truncated name with the untruncated name.
2. Defect description for SR # 4701390070
Cause of the authu abort is unknown.
3. Defect description for SR # 4701390294
The trace function uses a module to initialize trace.
This module is called automatically when the
OdssMsgHdl.dll is loaded. This will create the named
mutex using the CreateMutex API. Another process
that starts up while the first process is still
running will do the same thing. There is an error
check in the trace initialization routine that looks if
the mutex already exists, and if so, will print this
error message. Usually this bug does not occur because
the mutex is released after a trace log has been
performed, but the mutex is never released because
the self-extracting zip file that installs the thin
client library on a Windows system does not create
the default trace and audit log directory "logs" so
the first process cannot find the logging directory.
4. Defect description for SR # 4701390104
The source of the problem is in the source file
where struct "tm.tm_year" value is used.
tm_year is defined as
int tm_year; /* years since 1900 */
To enter a value that corresponds to 1998, you would
have to enter 98 (98 is displayed) and to enter
a value that corresponds to 2000, you would have to
enter 100 (100 is displayed). Of course, entering
an actual year like "1998" or "2001" would fail
because the resulting integer value would be greater
than the maximum default ending date of 2030.
5. Defect description for SR # 4701390211
Fix memory allocation bugs in replication.
PHSS_14850:
1. Defect description for SR # 4701387639
Occurs when odss*_inq_*() API calls are invoked for a
rule consisting of 5 or more priv attrs, and all priv
attr values are not explicitly stated in the filter
input parameter of the odss*_inq_*() call. Denied may
or may not happen depending on the ordering of the
priv attrs. Cause is a defect in /opt/odss/lbin/authpd.
2. Defect description for SR # 4701387019
The authpif daemon does not perform a programmatic
dce_login in order to renew its authentication ticket;
as a consequence, the nsapi plugin API odss-authorize
will always return "authorization denied" after the
authpif daemon's kerberos ticket has expired.
The lab modified the authpif executable to perform a
periodic dce_login in order to renew the authentication
ticket.
3. Defect description for SR # 4701387654
The tar file /opt/odss/odss_ito.tar that contains
files required to configure Pr/AS into IT/Operations
is missing two files, "AS_p.sh" and "AS_1.sh". The
tar file has been rebuilt to include these two files.
4. Defect description for SR # 4701387449
odss_s_why_denied[1-5]: WHY DENIED? ... messages are
filling up the authpd.log. The fix eliminates the
above messages from appearing in the authpd.log during
normal processing. The messages are still available
through the product trace facility.
5. Defect description for SR # 4701387456
ODSS_authz_config may fail in initial config but OK
after doing an ODSS_authz_config -unconfig in a
replicated DCE setup. The fix should reduce the
chance of ODSS_authz_config from failing due to delay
caused by DCE replication overhead.
6. Defect description for SR # 4701387704
Hostname and uname -a were used interchangeably in
the configuration scripts.
7. Defect description for SR # 4701387217
The codebase statment in Create Entitlement needed
to be changed to the default.
8. Defect description for SR # 4701387225
The performance of Authu was increased.
9. Defect description for SR # 4701387746
A utility is provided that enables a
customer to monitor authu heap usage so that
authu can be stopped and restarted before the
authu memory leak (see SR#4701353524) causes
authu to abort.
10. Defect description for SR # 4701387738
On a multiprocessor (MP) system, the Engine runtime
database requires HP-UX patch PHKL_14569, requires
that two onconfig.odss database configuration parms
be set to indicate an MP system, and HP-UX kernel
parms need to be set for a "monolithic" environment.
Authpd and authpa must be modified to handle
Informix errors returned on an MP system.
11. Defect description for SR # 4701380162
String handling characteristics of the Create Puser
Callout facility have been modified to allow a user
to insert a ppid value of up to 1023 bytes in
length (the max allowed size of a ppid value element).
12. Defect description for SR # 4701380170
This is an enhancement for a customer
13. Defect description for SR # 4701380154
With performance enhancements introduced in this
patch, a minimum of 200 Mb of disk space is
required under /var/opt/odss for the successful
creation of an enlarged Informix database.
The number of buffers used by the Informix runtime
database has been increased to increase runtime
performance. For this reason, at least 256 Mb o
RAM is recommended for optimal performance of the
Engine.
14. Defect description for SR # 4701380147 4701380188
An index was added to the database to increase
performance of creating/enabling principals and
calls to odss*_inq* API calls.
