Patch-to-Patch Dependencies
===========================
Requires Diagnostics version A.02.25 (ODIKXK2C or later)
(DUI Version A.02.25)
This version of diagnostics supports COLOSSUS.
Note that this is now a real dependency, so we do not need
the pre-colossus/post-colossus versions of MEMSCANP. This
patch must be installed on a system that has ODIKXK2C or
a later patch installed (As of the GR date of 12/16/2002
of OSPMX35A, the current GR ODI patch and the dependency
is ODILXA9A)
External Symptoms, Cause, Fix Description
=========================================
OSPMX35A contains Predictive version B.60.05
This patch (OSPMX35 A) is the 4th patch for Predictive
for MPE iX 6.0 It supercedes patches OSPKXT7B,OSPKXT7A,
and OSPKXP1A. The OSPKXT7 A patch was never released, but
the Quality Review copies of Powerpatch/Express I
had the "A" version of the patch.
This patch fixes 2 new problems:
8606-230470 - Predictive stops configuring devices if it
encounters a device with a path tha is > 16
characters long. This sometimes occurs because
a device is in the PPT (Physical Path Table)
with trailing blanks.
The fix for this is two-fold. First, remove
leading and trailing blanks from all string
fields. The string fields are the ldev,
pdev (path), and product identifier. The
second part of the fix is to NOT stop
configuring devices if 1 device has a path
that is too long. Just skip that device and
go on to the next device.
8606-178548 - Predictive on MPE iX with OSPKXT7B exhibits
an old problem:
If a 997 system has Colossus memory, MEMSCANP
aborts with the following stack trace:
+-------------------------------------+

H E W L E T T - P A C K A R D

H P P R E D I C T I V E

This patch (OSPKXT7 A) is the 3rd patch for Predictive
for MPE iX 6.0 It supercedes patch OSPKXT7 A and
OSPKXP1 A. The OSPKXT7 A patch was never released, but
the first Quality Review copies of Powerpatch/Express I
had the "A" version of the patch.
It contains support for the new COLOSSUS memory boards
in JADE (997) systems, plus the fixes from the previous
patch OSPKXP1 A.
The overall Predictive version of this patch is:
B.60.04
1. COLOSSUS memory changes for JADE (997) systems
4701-425637
Fixes from the previous patch OSPKXP1 A are included in
OSPKXT7 A. For documentation purposes, here is a list of
the fixes from OSPKXP1 A:
The following problems are fixed in patch OSPKXP1 A:
1. Final Y2K fixes for MPE iX Onsite Predictive.
(SR 4701-415513)
2. A string overflow (PASCERR 650) occurs on EMERALD systems
(SR 4701-416024).
3. The following 5 rulesets have been updated since the
original MPE iX 6.0 submittal, and are included in this
patch (OSPKXP1 A):
DSM1 X.00.12 - Added handling of ASC $47 SCSI Interface
Interface Parity error.
DSWS X.00.17 - Check the firmware revision of C2490AM and
C2490WD disks And report if firmware revision
is less than 5193.
DSM3 X.00.03 -
DS22 X.00.20 -
DS2F X.00.24 -

Distribution Recommendation:
For a FOS product and should be installed if appropiate.
(Special circumstances, the installer should read the text.
Update Required: Yes
Special Instructions:
This Predictive patch (OSPKXT7B) will attempt to check the
version of the diagnostic XL XL.DIAG.SYS to determine
which version of the memory data structures that the
diagnostic memory logging software is using. This works
fine when installing from PowerPatch/Express I using
AUTOINST and PatchIX. However, if an online diagnostics
patch (starts with "ODI") is installed at the same time
as the Predictive patch using AUTOPAT, the correct
Predictive files may not be installed.
To insure the correct files are installed, do either of the
following:
(Note: It will not hurt to stream the JFIXMEM.PRED.SYS
job even after a successful installation. All
files needed for Predictive to install either
the older memory structures or the new memory
structures are left on the system in the
PRED.SYS group in staged locations. The JFIXMEM
job will check the version of XL.DIAG.SYS and
will install the correct Predictive files
1. If AUTOPAT is used to install the patches, insure that
the "ODI" patch (ODIKXK2B, for instance) is input to
AUTOPAT before the OSPKXT7B patch. This will allow the
Predictive installation job to check the staged XL
XLDIAG.PATCHXL.SYS instead of XL.DIAG.SYS....
2. After the patch installations are complete, stream the
job JFIXMEM.PRED.SYS. This will check the diagnostics
version that is installed (by checking the OIOMEM version
in XL.DIAG.SYS) and will install (or re-install) the
correct Predictive files.
Note that this can be done even if the installation was
done correctly, and will not harm anything.
