Status: General Release

PHSS_28322: CORRUPTION
Possible silent data loss during failover.
Category Tags:
defect_repair general_release critical corruption
Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_28322
Symptoms:
PHSS_28322:
1. During a normal failover where the XP/CA pair device is
expected to swap personalities, the MetroCluster CA
script can allow packages to startup even though the
personality swap for the disk arrays fails. Unless the
user checks the device state, they may assume that the
data is remotely protected. But under this case, the
data is not remotely protected.
2. While an application is running on the PVOL side, the CA
links fail in the direction of the PVOL to the SVOL but
the CA links in the direction of the SVOL to the PVOL are
still intact. Note under this state if the application
continues to write data to the PVOL, the SVOL side will
become non-current. If the application fails over to the
remote data center, MetroCluster/CA will swap the pair
device using the old data on the SVOL and thus the PVOL
data will be overwritten without the consent to the user.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28322:
1. When performing a SWAP takeover, the MetroCluster/CA
script accepts a return code for SVOL takeover. The
MetroCluster/CA script should only accept a successful
return code for SWAP takeover.. Any other return code
from SWAP takeover indicates some kind of problem with
XP disk array.
2. In the MetroCluster/CA script, the script will perform a
"pairresync -swaps". This command doesn't check to
see that the data on the PVOL is flushed over to the
SVOL prior to swapping the personalities. Therefore
under circumstances where only CA links from PVOL to
SVOL direction fail and then a failover occurs after
some data is written to the PVOL, the MetroCluster/CA
script will execute "pairresync -swaps" and swap the
personalites. This swap will overwrite the PVOL data
with the SVOL data.

Symptoms:
PHKL_28465:
( SR:8606290241 CR:JAGae54167 )
A process running on the system, once deactivated, takes a
very long time to be reactivated (few minutes to an hour).
During this long reactivation interval, the process cannot
be killed and may appear hung to the end user. This can
happen even if there is no memory pressure and a CPU is
idle.
Defect Description:
PHKL_28465:
( SR:8606290241 CR:JAGae54167 )
The reactivation algorithm is a function based on the
process size at deactivation time and the current kernel
pageout rate. It does not consider if there is sufficient
available memory for the process.
If the kernel pageout rate drops very low, and if the
process size at deactivation time was large, the
reactivation interval will be very long.
Resolution:
The reactivation algorithm now includes a check for memory
available on the system when considering a process for
reactivation. If there is sufficient available memory, then
the most suitable process will be selected for reactivation,
even if the kernel pageout rate is very low and the process
size at deactivation time was large.

Symptoms:
PHSS_28486:
01)JAGab77468: Multiplication by -1 and FNEG give
different answers for real*16.
02)JAGad78503: The compiler appears to be generating extra
local variables as evidenced by looking at
the stack in the debugger.
03)JAGae04245: The compiler aborts, error 8901, with -g
on a structure with unions.
04)JAGae33903: Incorrect runtime behavior when using +i8.
05)JAGae43641: When compiling some f90 codes with +O3
+Oopenmp, compiler will assert after
inlining a routine that was passed a record
containing a dope vector.
06)JAGae50020: The address of a member of a nested union
is incorrect.
07)JAGae51271: Internal compiler error 7108 with +Ofaster
+O3.
PHSS_27974:
01)JAGae41646: Inferior runtime performance for POINTER
and TARGET arrays.
02)JAGae47442: The compiler aborts when procssing
extraneous enddo statements.
03)JAGae47562: Wrong answers with common blocks and thread
local variables.
PHSS_27735:
01)JAGab14103: Poor code for complex conjugate.
02)JAGac39693: Compiler aborts when an integer is used
as case selector for a logical expression.
03)JAGad00774: Debug information for array pointer
upperbound is incorrect.
04)JAGae04154: The compiler will assert after inlining a
routine that was passed a record containing
a dope vector.
05)JAGae14987: Missed exceptions when running exception
handling codes compiled at +O3.
06)JAGae19402: Assert in compiler when function ENTRYs
have assorted types, wide mode.
07)JAGae21778: The compiler moves code around OMP lock
calls.
08)JAGae22667: When compiling a file not in the current
directory with +cpp_keep, the filename
given in error and warning messages can
be incorrect.
09)JAGae27279: Default cpp options are identical between
PA and IA, they should be different.
10)JAGae27323: When using +asm/-S in combination with
+P/+Oprofile, +asm/-S are ignored.
11)JAGae28994: The compiler aborts with OpenMP and PREFETCH
directive.
12)JAGae30245: The compiler aborts when +i8 is used with
values greather than 2**31.
13)JAGae30374: The compiler issues an internal error
message when the first argument to an
elemental procedure is not an array.
14)JAGae32208: Extensive use of automatic arrays in a
subroutine with a very high call count
resulted in poor performance due to using
malloc for automatic array allocation.
15)JAGae32568: Segmentation fault compiling incomplete
program
16)JAGae33403: Segmentation fault compiling f90 program
with function returning pointer to array
of derived type containing a private
typed object.
17)JAGae35658: The compiler aborts with +DO11.0EP9806
switch.
18)JAGae38090: The directive c$dir sync_routine is ignored
with warning if +Oopenmp used. It needs
to be supported regardless of optimization
levels.
19)JAGae38242: The compiler aborts (core dump) when
compiling the declaration of a
deferred-shape array parameters (a construct
which violates the Fortran standard).
20)JAGae39339: BOZ constant causes compiler abort in
case statement.
21)JAGae40739: The compiler aborts when a parameter is
equivalenced to a local variable.
22)JAGae41202: Memory leak when a save statement is used
with an automatically allocated array.
23)JAGae41337: Error at compile time with loop unrolling.
24)JAGae41636: Wrong answers when passing complex pointers
at +O2 optimization.
25)JAGae42188: The compiler aborted when trying to
initialze a pointer field of a derived type.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28486:
01)JAGab77468: The compiler had computed FNEG using
subtraction from zero. Changed to use
multiplication by negative one.
02)JAGad78503: The compiler was incorrectly informing
the debugger about some of the data on
the stack.
03)JAGae04245: The compiler was incorrectly resetting
the unions for vax structures to zero.
04)JAGae33903: The compiler generated bad code when +i8
was used with millicode calls.
05)JAGae43641: Routines passed as records containing dope
vectors were incorrectly inlined.
06)JAGae50020: The compiler was incorrectly resetting
the unions for vax structures to zero.
07)JAGae51271: The compiler referenced out of range values
for register spill aareas.
PHSS_27974:
01)JAGae41646: The compiler was treating these arrays in
a worst-case fashion.
02)JAGae47442: The compiler allowed the extraneous enddo
statement to cascade incorrectly.
03)JAGae47562: The compiler was incorrectly handling the
PIC+TLS flavor of the three instruction
load sequence.
PHSS_27735:
01)JAGab14103: The compiler needed to generate better
code for complex conjugate.
02)JAGac39693: The compiler needed to accept the integer
and convert it to logical.
03)JAGad00774: The copiler did not correctly report the
upper bound.
04)JAGae04154: The compiler needs to avoid inlining
routines that are passed records containing
dope vectors.
05)JAGae14987: Changed IA exception handling FP
environment optimization from aggressive
to conservative.
06)JAGae19402: There was an error in the wide mode return
register table.
07)JAGae21778: The comiler neglected to make synch
routines of the nested versions of
omp_set_lock and omp_unset_lock.
08)JAGae22667: Include file handling code needed to be
smarter about files in non-local
directories.
09)JAGae27279: Changed the default cpp options.
10)JAGae27323: When using +asm/-S in combination with
+P/+Oprofile, +asm/-S was being ignored.
11)JAGae28994: The compiler needed to generate code to
access the pointer for the prefetch
directive.
12)JAGae30245: The compiler did not give friendly error
messages for overflows (greater than 2**31).
13)JAGae30374: Look for arrays for elemental
func/subroutine in other positions of
call list.
14)JAGae32208: The compiler needed a mechansim to perform
allocation of automatic arrays on the stack
rather than heap (by option).
15)JAGae32568: The compiler did not detect incomplete
programs and exit gracefully.
16)JAGae33403: The compiler needed to drop the derived
type and get the underlying type for
function results.
17)JAGae35658: The compiler neglected to keep the offset
valid when fusing millicode calls.
18)JAGae38090: The sync_routine directive was not allowed
to be present within the Openmp programming
mode.
19)JAGae38242: The compiler neglected to detect and report
the error.
20)JAGae39339: 'Z' notation was not accepted as type
compatible.
21)JAGae40739: Compiler error in 64 bit integer promotion.
22)JAGae41202: The compiler failed to remove save
attribute for the automatic array.
23)JAGae41337: The compiler was not correctly handling
arrays with zero tails in sum reduction
optimization.
24)JAGae41636: The compiler erroneoulsy passed the address
instead of the value of the complex number.
25)JAGae42188: The compiler was sending a boundless array
to the optimizer.

Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_28362
Symptoms:
PHSS_28362:
- H554002103 Export summarization of multiple instance data
is now summarized correctly by the export function of
extract when a shift is specified and the end of the shift
occurs before the end of the summarization interval.
- H554002220 The OVPA utility RESIZE command no longer
empties LOGGLOB when:
- Resizing LOGAPPL to a very small value and
then resizing LOGGLOB results in an empty
LOGGLOB (with PARM file setting SIZE=0.0)
- Resizing LOGGLOB to a very small value and
then resizing LOGAPPL results in an empty
LOGGLOB (with PARM file setting SIZE=0.0)
- H554002227 The PROC_RUN_TIME metric, and the metrics that
are derived from it (PROC_CPU_TOTAL_TIME_CUM,
PROC_DISK_BLOCK_IO_SUM, PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM), no longer
decrease after a period of 23 days.
- H554002281 OVPA has been enhanced to select interesting
processes based on virtual memory allocation. The parm
file is used to set the process memory threshold, in
megabyte units. If set, the memory threshold is compared
with the value of the PROC_MEM_VIRT metric. Each process
that exceeds the memory threshold will be logged,
similarly to the existing disk and CPU process logging
thresholds. When a logged process has exceeded the memory
threshold, the PROC_INTEREST metric will include "M". An
example of the interesting process threshold definition
line in a parm file could look like:
threshold memory=20
to log only processes in a given interval that have the
value of PROC_MEM_VIRT greater than 20MB (20480 Kilobytes:
note that the logged values for this metric is in KB
units). The memory threshold definition, in units of
megabytes, is accurate to the nearest 100KB. Memory
threshold settings are logged into the CONFIGURATION
record like other interesting process threshold values
through the GBL_THRESHOLD_PROCMEM metric.
- H554002284 The utility -xp and utility -xc no longer
report the parm or the alarmdef file syntax error if a
directory is specified instead of appropriate file.
- H554002345 On active systems where the I/O throughput is
high, the following metrics will report correct values
when the value exceeds a gigabyte (over 1 million
kilobytes):
GBL_DISK_PHYS_BYTE
GBL_DISK_PHYS_READ_BYTE
GBL_DISK_PHYS_WRITE_BYTE
Now that these metrics are correct, the following metrics
derived from them will also be correct:
GBL_DISK_PHYS_BYTE_RATE
GBL_DISK_PHYS_READ_BYTE_RATE
GBL_DISK_PHYS_WRITE_BYTE_RATE
- H554002351 The utility -xr was improved so that now
correct values of MB per day are determined for the resize
operation. The logfiles are resized to allow for the exact
number of days as specified with the days= option.
- H554002369 When you perform extract/export SHOW in guided
mode, messages displayed for NETIF and Configuration data
are now correct:
NETIF .....BOTH detail & summary records will be processed
Configuration ...DETAIL......... records will be processed
- H554002386 The initial and all of the subsequent repeti-
tions of alarm statements are now triggered correctly as
configured in the alarmdef file.
- H554002389 Previously, the utility scan program did not
find filesystem names in old HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and IBM
AIX log files that already included filesystem records.
The problem has been corrected in this release.
- R555012311 PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM has been corrected to cope
with large values (GBs) of IO. It now has a limit of 2048
GB, when this limit is exceeded it correctly reports 'o/f'
for overflow.
- R555013809 A problem where an incorrect value could be
reported for PROC_CPU_TOTAL_TIME_CUM has been corrected.
- R555014557 OVPA would sometimes present incorrect values
for the process metrics PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM,
PROC_DISK_PHYS_IO_CUM and PROC_DISK_LOGL_IO_CUM. This
problem has been corrected.
- R555015007 Previously, bad network metric values had been
observed on busy Omniback servers, and the bad values were
possible on any system with very high network throughput
rates on the order of thousands of packets per second. The
problem has been corrected in this release.
- R555015031 A problem was fixed that could cause
intermittent scope cores during execution of a "mwa stop"
command.
- R555016072 In OVO, the OV Performance Agent templates are
now updated automatically when upgrading from version
A.06.00 to A.07.10.
