filterByMapManaged options.
PHSS_27614:
ovactiond man page not clear.
PHSS_27571:

with the -trapType option , under the Japanese locale.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28586:
8606284920: Reporting generated E-mail format did not

8606284920: E-mail format specifications for qmail have
been incorporated in the generated message content.
PHSS_28564:
8606284812: A data buffer was not fully utilized. This
resulted in reading the same data.
8606207670: snmpCollect deleted all the existing
collections on receiving a configuration update.
Resolution:
8606284812: The data buffer is now being fully utilized.
8606207670: Configuration update algorithm is modified not
to delete the existing collections if their attributes are
not changed.
PHSS_28545:
8606289437: ovw incorrectly unmanages the router if the
network it connects to is unmanaged and the network is
contained inside a location symbol.
8606286694: Locale change is not taken care of in string
operations in Alarm Browser.
8606289384: If Auto Layout is disabled for all submaps of
a Read-Write map and the submaps are never visited, the
(x,y) coordinates of the symbols in these submaps will be
set to (0,0). This leads to a symbol stacking problem in
the read only copy when a layout by symbol coordinates is
attempted.
8606288376: An internal buffer overflow was resulting in a
corrupted pointer causing the core dump.
8606285768: ovw was dereferencing a NULL pointer.
8606288696: Webappmon uses a fixed 32KB buffer for
incoming data from any application.
8606289286: Without system utilities path in the PATH
environment variable, backup script fails.
8606287001: Network Presenter does not handle the case
when ovw disconnects ungracefully.
8606284911: The number of rows to display for CRGen report
was hardcoded to 10.
8606288055: The locking mechanisms used in UNIX and
Windows are not compatible with each other.
8606282709: Status update of Alarm Categories was not
handled properly on deletion of events from Web Alarm
Browser.
Resolution:
8606289437: ovw has been made aware of symbol and submap
hierarchy, so that it does not unmanage all child objects
as a result of unmanaging the parent object.
8606286694: Code has been changed to handle the locale
changes.
8606289384: If the submaps in the Read-Write map are never
visited, an Auto Layout is now performed on the Read Only
submaps, when they are opened.
8606288376: ovwdb has been modified to truncate the buffer
in line with the stated documentation.
8606285768: A null value check has been done for the
pointer that causes the core dump.
8606288696: Webappmon has been modified to allocate memory
for the data buffer dynamically when the data size exceeds
32KB.
8606289286: System utilities path has been included in the
PATH environment variable.
8606287001: Code has been added to display an error
message when any operation is performed in jovw after
disconnection with ovw.
8606284911: Code has been modified to pick up the value,
for the number of rows to be displayed, from the
global.conf file while configuring a report.
8606288055: A common locking mechanism is provided to
resolve the incompatibility.
8606282709: The code has been modified to appropriately
update status on Alarm Categories in the Web alarm browser.
PHSS_28472:
8606228571: NNM is not designed to handle Sun Clusters.
8606288064: netmon does not handle invalid PDUs.
Resolution:
8606228571: Changed NNM to understand the migratable IP
address reported by Sun Clusters. More details on the usage
can be found in the netmon.migratable man page.
8606288064: Changed netmon to handle the invalid PDU.
PHSS_28399:
8606283616: The port number for the management server was
not being appended to the URL.
8606288037: The UNIX port number was hard-coded as 8880
for UNIX management server.
8606280347: ovalarmsrv fails to handle the print request
from Web Alarms Browser.
8606281958: Network Presenter fails to recognize Internet
Explorer when Sun Java plug-in is installed.
8606277321: IPMap does not limit the scope of the
recursive procedure used to handle addition of devices
under Location symbols.
8606281716: IPMap does not limit the scope of the
recursive procedure used to handle the manage operation,
for devices with large number of interfaces and present
under Location symbols.
8606287613: IPMap performs the cleanup operation, during
synchronization, even for unused interfaces, causing it to
loop for devices having a large number of
unused/disconnected interfaces.
8606277559: The time period specified
in ScheduledMaintenance circuit was not being handled
correctly.
8606285281: ovtrapd is designed to listen for traps on the
snmp-trap/UDP port on all the configured LAN interfaces
for forwarding them to NNM Event Subsystem.
8606277815: Manual page was not updated after the defect
fix for SR 8606168719.
8606281767: Netmon does not update the status of the
interfaces as reported by SNMP during discovery. Hence,
for an admin-down interface that does not respond to ping,
Netmon sets the status as critical.
8606283445: OVW invokes xnmappmon when nmdemandpoll is
executed. xnmappmon is not handling white spaces in the
executable path correctly.
8606284298: JOVW invokes webappmon when nmdemandpoll is
executed. webappmon is not handling white spaces in the
executable path correctly.
Resolution:
8606283616: The port number used by the UNIX management
server is now retrieved and appended to the URL.
8606288037: The port number is now being read from
$OV_CONF/ovweb.conf file.
8606280347: ovalarmsrv has been modified to handle the
print request on Solaris.
8606281958: Code has been modified to recognize Internet
Explorer if Sun Java plug-in is installed.
8606277321: The scope of recursion has been limited in
IPMap.
8606281716: The scope of recursion has been limited in
IPMap.
8606287613: Now, IPMap performs the cleanup operation only
for interfaces that changed since the last time
synchronization was performed. Unused/disconnected
interfaces are ignored.
8606277559: ScheduledMaintenance circuit has been
modified to handle the range error.
8606285281: A command line option, -I, is added to ovtrapd
to occupy the snmp-trap/UDP port on only ONE interface,
which is used by OpenView NNM daemons. For more
information refer to the ovtrapd manual page. This
enhancement does not apply to the Windows version of NNM.
8606277815: Modified the ovbackup.ovpl manual page to
include the missing information.
8606281767: Netmon has been modified to update the status
of the interfaces as reported by SNMP during discovery.
8606283445: xnmappmon has been modified to handle the
white spaces in the specified path for nmdemandpoll.
8606284298: webappmon has been modified to handle the
white spaces in the specified path for nmdemandpoll.
PHSS_28347:
8606285207: The buffer sizes used were insufficient to
handle large number of Interfaces.
Resolution:
8606285207: The buffers are now dynamically allocated as
required.
PHSS_28257:
8606280632: Trace message in the API OVwDbUnsetFieldValues
() is incorrect.
8606278320: Event viewer error message does not provide
useful information and is very repetitive.
8606239849: The netmon manual page does not document
clearly the implications of the different values for the
pickSnmpAddrPolls option.
8606280620: IPMap re-collapses serial networks after
properly un-collapsing serial networks that are unmanaged.
8606279382: The contents of the "title" field in
snmp_trend_dataset table has a size of 40 characters.
The "title" field is updated with a compound string formed
from the MIB expression and Collection Group Name. During
the export of trend data, this compound string is
truncated if it is longer than 40 characters. As a result,
the SELECT query for the scheduled report returns no
records and so the report is not generated.
8606279896: ovuispmd does not allow new ovw connections if
one or more ovw sessions hang.
8606282042: -pollXServer command line option of ovw was
not available in the OVw resource file.
8606276940: Due to wrong font in resource file, date and
time do not come properly in xnmevents.
8606276955: Due to wrong font in resource file, date and
time do not come properly in the pop-up window of
Xnmevents.
Resolution:
8606280632: The trace message has been corrected to
display the right information.
8606278320: Useful information has been added and the
Event viewer message moved to trace, rather than log.

reflect the right explanation.
8606280620: IPMap has been modified to handle the case for
unmanaged serial networks.
8606279382: The "NNM Analysis and Reporting" section
of "HP OpenView Web Online Help" has been updated with the
safe maximum length of Collection Group Names. This length
is fixed at 10 characters.
8606279896: ovuispmd has been changed not to block when
any ovw sessions hang.
8606282042: ovw has been modified to read pollXServer
option from the OVw resource file.
8606276940: Suitable font for Simplified Chinese locale
has been put in the resource file for Xnmevents.
8606276955: Suitable font for Simplified Chinese locale

addresses and reflect them in the database.
8606273023:ipmap does not remove gateway symbols and their
connections from the Network and Segment submaps, if the
interface connecting the gateway to the network is removed
(loses its IP address) or changed (gets a new IP address).
Resolution:
8606273023: ipmap was modified to perform the cleanup.
PHSS_28072:
8606249222: OV Events are the internal events for
communication between the OV NNM daemons. The definition
for these events could change between NNM versions and
hence the corresponding MIB file was not included in the
HP proprietary MIBs directory.
Resolution:
8606249222: The script

specific Cisco routers which are now obsolete. Hence, the
option has been deprecated.
8606228341: Expression Guru of snmpCollect was not querying
all the variables on the agent and hence not verifying
before deciding the direct expressions.
Resolution:
8606228341: Code has been added to expression guru of
snmpCollect to query and verify all the related mib
variables in the percenterrors category before deciding the
direct expressions.

version of network objects.
8606276402: When ovwdb is started with the "-n" option,
only a subset of the objects as specified with the "-n"
option is cached in memory. When a search is made on an
attribute only the cached objects were checked. If
there were objects in the database with that attribute
value but which were not present in the cache, ovwdb never
returned these objects to ovw.
Resolution:
8606276402: ovwdb has been modified to search the database
for non-cached objects.

8606272237: NNM database and the table owner name were
being prefixed to the table name in all the generated
reports, leading to OVreporter not locating the tables.
This led to error in report generation.
Resolution:
8606272237: Report templates have been modified to remove
the database and the table owner name prefixes from the
table name.
PHSS_27866:
ovw, xnmevents or any gui application needs locale
specific resource file to show correct fonts. For Chinese,
Korean or any Asian character display, these locale
specific resource files are missing.
Resolution:
Locale specific resource files have been provided in the
patch. These files will get installed into $OV_NEW_CONF
directory and then later they will be copied under
directory /usr/lib/X11/$LANG/app-defaults/, where the GUI
applications look for it. $LANG refers to locale name in
which GUI applications are running. This patch provides
the resource files for ko_KR.eucKR, zh_CN.hp15CN, and
zh_TW.big5 locales.
PHSS_27835:
8606274432: The thread's stack limitation was causing the
mmonitor to incorrectly handle the local buffers defined in
libovsnmp.
Resolution:
8606274432: libovsnmp has been modified to allocate the
local buffers from the heap memory.
8606276721: A problem with the usage of the dictionary

8606266737: A libovsnmp function was not handling improper
length values while receiving packets.
Resolution:
8606266737: The libovsnmp function was modified to handle
improper length values correctly.
8606266915: ovlauncher failed to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
Resoluion:
8606266915 : Code has been implemented to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
8606264074: The logic in ovw that determines the highest
submap in the IP Map hierarchy given a source object did not
handle Location submaps.
Resolution:
8606264074 : Code is added to handle Location Submaps when
an object appears in a Location Submap.
8606272817: SNMP response packet contained invalid
error_index value.
Resolution:
8606272817: Modified netmon to handle invalid SNMP
responses.
8606266361: No useful information provided in the message
for problem isolation.
Resolution:
8606266361: Useful information, to assist in problem
isolation provided as a part of the message.
8606267983: A function call returns incorrect value for the
event belonging to category IGNORE (Don't log or Display),
which further causes ovactiond to crash.
Resolution:
8606267983: Defective function was modified to return a
proper value for events belonging to IGNORE category.
8606254823: The number of records to be provided in a
configured report was being limited to a pre-configured
value of ten.
Resolution:
8606254823: Code has been modified to accept the value set
for the variable 'topn_count' in the file
$OV_ANALYSIS_CONF/global.conf and/or the value set for the
variable 'REPORT_TOPN' in the file request.properties
( nested in the $OV_REQUESTD_MAIN_PATH/requests
subdirectories ) associated with the configured report.
8606261353: The connections between the device and the other
end points of the connections are not preserved inside the
location container.
Resolution:
8606261353: ipmap's logic of handling deletion of objects
from a map was modified to preserve the connections inside
the location container.
8606269552: When building the SNMP packet header, the length
of the community name is assumed to be less than 128 bytes.
Resolution:
8606269552: Encoding the length of the community name in the
SNMP packet header has been modified to accept upto 255
bytes.
8606272791: ovtrapd man page was not updated for 64KB trap
enhancement.
Resolution:
8606272791: ovtrapd man page has been updated to include the
64KB trap enhancement.
8606264870: snmpCollect did not handle certain cases during
collection check which resulted in misleading error
messages.
Resolution:
8606264870: Code has been modified to handle those cases
which resulted in misleading error messages.
8606264777: The comparison routine was case sensitive.
Resolution:
8606264777: The comparison routine is modified to be case
insensitive.
8606270467: ovbackup.ovpl accepts a timeout value for
ovresume. This value is passed to all the scripts that
execute ovresume. There could be certain scripts nested in
the $OV_CONF/ovbackup directory that may fail to recognise
the timeout value passed as a parameter, leading to the
failure of that script.
Resolution:
8606270467: In the ovbackup.ovpl script, the script
nnm_checkpoint.ovpl has been isolated to receive the
ovresume timeout value, while the other scripts or binaries
placed in the subdirectories of $OV_CONF/ovbackup ( if any )
do not receive the value.
8606270556: Cannot find Release Notes or Manuals for non-C
and non-Japanese locales.
Resolution:
8606270556: Code has been modified to display the Release
Notes and Manuals in C locale on non-availability of the
requested locale.
8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
updates" gives the erroneous product version information.
Resolution:
8606271466: Product version information file has been
updated.
8606267361: The buffer used to copy the entries in the file
was hardcoded to hold upto 150 entries.
Resolution:
8606267361: Allocated the buffer to hold all the entries in
the file.
8606246340: Insufficient buffer allocation for holding the
error message caused netmon to dump core instead of printing
the error message.
Resolution:
8606246340: The buffer was allocated suitably for holding
the error message. Hence netmon would now print the error
message.
PHSS_27643:
Double quotes in the ifAlias value for interfaces were not
handled in the report generation code.
Resolution:
The code has been modified to handle double quotes in the
ifAlias value.
PHSS_27640:
The deletion of a symbol (or a submap) involves removing
the symbol (or submap) information, the map object and the
object in the object database. These three operations do
not happen as one single atomic operation. Invalid symbols
and submaps are left behind if ovw aborts after the
deletion of the map object and the object in the object
database, but before the removal of the symbol (or submap)
information.
Resolution:
The verbose option of ovw -mapcount is enhanced to do a
listing of invalid symbols and submaps. A new option '-c'
is provided with ovw -mapcount to clean such invalid
symbols and submaps.
PHSS_27638:
http server process was not handling the bad requests
properly.
Resolution:
Code has been added for handling the bad requests properly.
PHSS_27625:
1.OVdrawNodes.pm was failing to encode XML-special
characters: <>'&". This was causing XML parsing errors.
2.This problem occurs when the server and the browser
are running in different locales.
Resolution:
1.Code has been changed in OVdrawNodes.pm to encode XML
special and non-printable characters.
2.Code is implemented for the server and the browser to
communicate with the UTF8 codeset.
PHSS_27623:
submap is not removed from the router symbol's submap
list. Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the
same router causes NULL pointer access when previous
submap is dereferenced for the router symbol.
Resolution:
ovw is modified to check for NULL pointer dereferencing
before accessing any submap for the symbol's submap list.
PHSS_27616:
Memory allocated to a particular pointer was not freed
properly.
Resolution:
The allocated memory is now freed properly, at appropriate
position.
PHSS_27614:
ovactiond man page does not clearly explain what happens
in the case of multiple events occuring simultaneously.
Resolution:
The man page is updated with the information about
ovactiond behaviour in the case of multiple events
occuring simultaneously.
PHSS_27571:
Loading of MIBs with the -trapType option was incorrectly
handled by xnmloadmib under the Japanese locale.
Resolution:
Modified xnmloadmib to load the MIBs with the -trapType
option under the Japanese locale.

This patch deliver changes to the file $OV_CONF/
$LANG/trapd.conf.
As the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file may have been
customized, this patch installs the new copy of trapd.conf
under the $OV_NEW_CONF directory. This ensures that the
active copy of trapd.conf under $OV_CONF directory is not
overwritten.
If the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file was not customized,
the $OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file can be overwritten with
the trapd.conf file under the $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-
MIN/conf/$LANG directory.
However any customizations done to the $OV_CONF/
$LANG/trapd.conf file will need to be merged with the
trapd.conf file under the $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-MIN/conf/
$LANG directory before a new copy can be installed as
$OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf.
PHSS_27866:
This patch provides trapd.conf files for the following
locales: ko_KR.eucKR, zh_CN.hp15CN, and zh_TW.big5.
Since trapd.conf is a user modifiable configuration file,
the trapd.conf will not be copied to $OV_CONF/$LANG. After
the patch is installed you should create the required $LANG
directory in $OV_CONF and copy the corresponding trapd.conf
file from $OV_NEW_CONF/OVEVENT-MIN/conf/$LANG to
this newly created directory.
Furthermore, be aware that any customizations previously
made to the current trapd.conf file need to be merged from
the current trapd.conf file into the new
$OV_CONF/$LANG/trapd.conf file as else they will be lost.

Status: General Release
Critical: No
Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_28516
Symptoms:
PHSS_28516:
If the FILE-COMMNAD has 'swlist' as one of the commands to
be executed, the snmpnext responds only once. The 2nd and
later snmpnext requests are not replied.
PHSS_26507:
1. When querying the tcpConnTable, if a port number is
larger than 32767, mib2agt returns negative values for
the same.
2. Many timeout SetRequests in snmpdm Pdu-Queue blocks new
SetRequests. If snmpdm has many SNMP SetRequests to a
subagent and they get timeout situation, then new
SetRequest is never sent to the subagent, though
GetRequests will work.
3. snmpdm is not ready to respond to some SNMP queries by
the time it sends the cold start trap . This causes
the network management software to delete the interfaces
thinking they are not up.
4. hp_unixagt does not give the process user names when
queried on processUname with snmpwalk command.
(HP-UX 11.0 Only. Mib variable processUname problem).
5. hp_unixagt returns wrong values for Enabled and
Configured swap variables. (HP-UX 10.20 only).
6. hp_unixagt does not re-read the Configured swap value
when requested.
7. snmpdm doesn't respond properly for large invalid packets
8. snmpdm doesn't respond properly incase of malformed PDUs
9. There is a memory leak in snmpdm with an improperly
encoded packet.
10.Subagents send the log message back to Master Agent which
was originally sent from Master to subagent. This log
message to Master is not necessary when subagent's
logging is centralized with master agent
11.snmpdm misbehaves in strncmp().
12.The extsubagt wrongly encodes the displaystring index
for a table variable. The length field in OID created
is wrong.
13.hp_unixagt returns Computer System Free Swap as greater
than Enabled Swap, which is not correct. Free swap should
always be less than or equal to Enabled Swap.
(HP-UX 10.20 only)
14.snmpdm does not send the ColdStart trap when naaagt
registers for mib-2 OID, when mib2agt is not started and
COLDSTART_TIMEOUT environment variable is set to a non
zero value.(Solaris only).
15.snmpdm does not re-read its configuration file when a
trap-dest entry is added by an SnmpSet operation.
16.snmpdm does not add and remove the trap-dest entries
in its configuration file properly.(Solaris only).
17.On a system having an ATM interface, when mib2agt is run
with tracing on, the following error message is logged in
the /var/adm/snmpd.log file.
nmApiGetViaFd(): Protocol error[errno=61] <==
get_mib_info().
18."Extensible SNMP Agent" (OV EAGENT4.0) patch does not
give any Special installation instructions though the
patch includes some common files with OV EMANATE14.2
patch.
19.snmpdm does not handle the subagent connection requests
properly.
PHSS_24737:
1. When mib2agt is stopped, and naaagt is configured for
mib-2 and snmpdx is running on port 8161, if an snmpwalk
of the interfaces mib is attempted, it stops at
ifInOctetes.2
2a. snmpdm dumps core when using VIEW: in snmpd.conf file
2b. When a walk is made on the interfaces mib within the
mib2agt self-polling period of its interfaces after a LAN
link goes down, mib2agt does not send the trap
PHSS_24495:
Enhancement Request: Adding timeout option to Extensible
SNMP Agent for blocking SIGKILL signal to child processes
after sending SIGTERM
PHSS_23958:
Cu needs FILE-COMMAND timeout value to be settable thru
env variable
PHSS_23487:
Extensible SNMP Agent 4.03 doesn't work with -P option
PHSS_22871:
Memory leak is observed in extsubagt
PHSS_22454:
The log message PIPE_TIMEOUT IS XX appears by default when
using pipes in Extensible Subagent.
PHSS_22231:
After installing patch PHSS_21599/PHSS_21598/PSOV_02730, MIB
with 0 OID is disallowed with an error message:
Error defining OBJECT IDENTIFIER: object
identifier contains non-positive element:
PHSS_21598:
extsubagt dumps core when the customer mta-mib is walked
PHSS_21088:
Cu needs PIPE_TIMEOUT to be adjustable for extsubagt via
environment var
EA returns an extra byte in the varbind for NULL entry for
the Octetstring type
PHSS_20635:
EA4.03 : Ext agent does not monitor exit status of scripts.
snmpd -sys option did not work fine
PHSS_19567:
EA 4.03 incorrectly indicates a variable is of type 'Other'
PHSS_17680:
Ext Agent 4.0 using PIPEs insists data file is present.
Ext Agent puts wrong information on PIPE.
Ext Agent dumps core when queried for table objects.
PHSS_16234:
write-command-timeout of -1 causes Ext Agent to return an
error
EA dumps core when queried for PIPE objects
Ext Agent 4.02 always puts Integer as oidType on Pipe file
for setReq
PHSS_14399:
EA cannot handle tables > 256 elements
EA does not allow a netmask of 255.255.255.255
EA insists on data file being present when using pipes
PHSS_13259:
The Extensible Subagent does NOT append a \0 character
at the end of a message that is sent to a PIPE file.
Ext Agent 4.0 reports "Error in gettoken" when reading
file-table type objects.
Ext Agent mishandles MAC address and falsely terminates
at "00" byte.
PHSS_11376:
Upon time out requests user will see defunc processes
in the process table with extsubagt as parent.
PHSS_9512:
CPU time usage will go up to 90% if
you rping on a downed node. The source node should
be running the bad agent.
PHSS_8739:
when ever an abject request is sent trace mesgs are logged
for error mesgs.
this makes the snmpd.log file to grow at faster rate
which may result in disk full if not removed
periodically.
PHSS_8649:
End user sees unrelated error messages in the log file
after start up.
Extensible agent doesnot sent request over the pipe
for the user process and user doesn't know the request
PHSS_8497:
If the mibfile has a bad syntax then executing extsubagt
on 2.3solaris dumps core.
The snmpd.conf file is not updated when the master
snmpdm is run with the command line options.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28516:
The standard input file (stdin) was not closed for
FILE-COMMAND.
Resolution:
The standard input for FILE-COMMAND child process has been
closed.
PHSS_26507:
1. The defect was due to the fact that the variables for
receiving the port values were defined as signed shorts
instead of unsigned shorts.
2. When a SetRequest which was sent to subagent times out,
the corresponding Pdu in Pdu-Queue is not freed though
the Pdu's thread is killed. Because of the presence of
this Set-Pdu in Queue, new SetRequests are not serviced.
3. snmpdm sends the cold start trap before some of the
subagents registers themselves.
4. There is an argument and parameter mismatch in length
of the datatype when the function to get the process
user name is called. This length mismatch corrupts
the next parameter.
5. Agent returns incorrect values for Configured and
Enabled swap if the values get larger than ~0x300000.
6. Currently the hp_unixagt calculates the Configured swap
value when it starts up and stores this value in a
static location. This value is not re-calculated for
the subsequent requests. To force an update, the subagent
needs to be restarted.
7. snmpdm doesn't handle large packets properly.
8. snmpdm doesn't handle packets with malformed PDU
properly.
9. At some places, the allocated memory is not freed after
usage of that allocated memory is over.
10.The subagent does not check whether the log message needs
to go to master and if it is originally from master or
subagent.
11.Master agent was not handling the improper timeout events
correctly.
12.The length field of the OID is calculated incorrectly.
13.The calculation of enabled swap was not done properly.
14.This functionality was not implemented in the code.
15.The thread to read the configuration file was not
started by the master agent on receiving an event from
trapdestagt after a new trap-dest entry.
16.Addition & removal of trap-dest entries cause an
interrupt to be incorrectly handled by snmpdm.
17.When emulated lan is configured over ATM interface, the
device type returned is DL_ETHER. Based on the device
type alone, mib2agt retrieves interface information.
18.There were no Special installation instructions.
19.Data was improperly being read from a disconnected
subagent.
Resolution:
1. Code was implemented to typecast appropriately and
receive the port values.
2. Code is implemented to free the timed out Pdu properly
in Pdu-Queue as soon as the Pdu's thread is killed.
3. The COLDSTART_TIMEOUT environment variable can be used
to control the behaviour of snmpdm with respect to
sending the cold start trap.
If the environment variable COLDSTART_TIMEOUT was set to
a valid value >0 , then snmpdm would send the cold start
trap either after mib2agt registers or after
COLDSTART_TIMEOUT seconds expire, whichever is earlier.
The variable latches at the maximum of 600 (10 minutes).
4. Code is modified to match the length of the datatype
correctly in the arguments and parameters.
5. Code is implemented to give the correct values for
SwapConfig and EnabledSwap variables upto 2^32 bytes
of device swap memory which is 2^22 blocks.
6. Code implemented to re-read the swap value whenever the
Configured swap is requested.
7. Code implemented for handling the large packets properly
8. Code implemented for handling the packets with malformed
PDU properly.
9. Allocated memory is freed properly as and when
necessary.
10.Code has been implemented in subagent's library to check
whether the log message needs to go to master when
subagent want to send and also whether that message is
originally from master OR subagent.
11.Code is implemented to check the validity of pointers
before passing to strncmp.
12.Code has been implemented to calculate the length
correctly.
13.Code has been implemented for calculating the Enabled
swap correctly.
14.Code modified to check for mib-2 OID registration by
naaagt and send a coldstart trap when naaagt comes up.
15.Code implemented to re-read its configuration file when
master agent gets the appropriate event from trapdestagt.
16.Interrupt handling has been implemented for addtion and
removal of trap-dest entries.
17.mib2agt has been changed to obtain the device name if
device type is DL_ETHER. If device name is elan, mib2agt
does not retrieve the interface information.
18.Special installation instructions are added to the patch
text.
19.Code implemented to check the subagent disconnections
properly. snmpdm has been given "-tcplocal" command line
option, which can be used when the user does NOT want to
accept the connection from subagents on remote systems.
( #/usr/sbin/snmpdm -tcplocal ).
PHSS_24737:
1. When asking for mib variables provided by snmpdx and
accessed via snmpdm via the naaagt, the returned value is
in an snmp packet that is wrongly encoded causing the
response packet to be thrown away.
2a. This is a corner case of solaris not handling null
pointers effectively.
2b. The reason for the trap not being sent was because the
code segment for sending traps was not exeucted in case a
walk was made. The code segment was executed only in case
of the mib2agt self-polling.
Resolution:
1. Code was implemented to encode the packet correctly.
2a. Code was implemented to handle null pointers
appropriately.
2b. Code was implemented to send appropriate traps even
during walk and not only during self-polling.
PHSS_24495:
When a command in Extensible Agent times out, it sends the
SIGKILL signal immediately to command process(es), when
SIGTERM is unsuccessful in order to kill command process.
There is no waiting time before sending the SIGKILL signal.
Resolution:
Waiting time option is provided & made configurable through
an environment variable: EA_KILL_TIMEOUT.
This waiting time is provided before sending the SIGKILL
signal to external process(child process i.e. command) when
SIGTERM is unsuccessful. EA_KILL_TIMEOUT can be set from
1 to 10 sec. This env variable has to be set before starting
extsubagt & value must be between 1 to 10 sec. Anything
other than 1 to 10 assigned to this env var, then NO waiting
time is set. This feature is recommended to use only if you
are implementing any signal handler for the signal 15 in
your command. With this env var NOT set, extsubagt will have
default behavior.
PHSS_23958:
The file-cmd timeout value was hardcoded to 10 sec
Resolution:
The file-cmd timeout value is made configurable thru
environment variable: EA_CMD_TIMEOUT
PHSS_23487:
Environment variable SR_SNMP_TEST_PORT was exported with
wrong value.
Resolution:
The SR_SNMP_TEST_PORT variable exported as & when required
with right value.
PHSS_22871:
The memory allocated for an OID pointer was not freed after
use.
Resolution:
The OID pointers were freed while returning from the
routine.
PHSS_22454:
The message was an APERROR message which caused it to get
logged by default.
Resolution:
The log message was changed to an APTRACE message . Now it
appears only when APTRACE or APALL logging is turned on for
the extsubagt binary.
PHSS_22231:
The information is the RFC1902 (7.10.Mapping of the
OBJECT-TYPE value) which says for an OBJECT-TYPE maro, zero
sub-identifier is not allowed. This information was
misinterpreted, which lead to the fix disallowing MIB with 0
OID.
Resolution:
The changes are rolled back to accept MIB with 0 OID.
PHSS_21598:
The mta-mib provided to extsubagt defines objects with
sub-identifier zero, which the extsubagt doesn't handle
properly.
Resolution:
The extsubagt is fixed to handle the wrong mib at the parse
time.If the mib has objects with zero object-identifier,
a parse error is logged and the extsubagt does not startup
with that mib.
PHSS_21088:
EA PIPE_TIMEOUT was hardcoded to 20 secs.
Resolution:
PIPE_TIMEOUT made settable by user thru environment variable
- EA_PIPE_TIMEOUT
An end condition was not being checked properly for a NULL
entry for octetstring type
Resolution:
The condition for NULL entry for octetstring is checked
properly and now will return 0 bytes data in that case
PHSS_20635:
No code implemented to monitor exit codes of the scripts
Resolution:
Code written to retireve and return the exit status of
scripts it executes
snmpd script passes null arguments to snmpdm, which doesn't
handle null arguments properly
Resolution:
snmpdm command line processing is modified to handle null
arguments
PHSS_19567:
The defect was due to improper access of a datastructure
that gets created for scalar objects.
Resolution:
The datastructure was correctly accessed.
PHSS_17680:
A stat of the datafile was being done, and the function
returned NULL if the data file was not present.
Resolution:
Allowed the function to continue even if the data file was
not present.
A variable was being assigned the value 0, instead of
comparing it with 0.
Resolution:
Correctly compared the value of variable with 0.
This was because of a malloc call which was not necessary.
Resolution:
Removed the malloc call and subsequent 'free's.
PHSS_16234:
The intermediate process was exiting with a status of 1
Resolution:
Changed the exit status of the process
This prob was due to an uninitialised pointer
Resolution:
The pointer was initialised
The subid from the incoming oid was not being used and
hence the objType value was always returned as an int
Resolution:
The subid was used.
PHSS_14399:
Prior to putting data on the pipe, the data file was checked
if it was present. If not an error was returned.
Resolution:
Allowed writing into the pipe before checking for
the presence of the data file.
An error was being returned if 255.255.255.255 was specified
and also contained logic against specifying the address.
Resolution:
Allowed to specify the address and not return error.
A char was used to represent the no of columns and
hence could hold only upto a max of 256.
Resolution:
Used an integer instead of a char.
PHSS_13259:
The Extensible Subagent does NOT append a \0 character
at the end of a message that is sent to a PIPE file.
Resolution:
A '\0' is appended to end of message.
It appears that the ext agent on sun is not properly
handling the EOF condition when reading a table in
a file. The table is returned okay, but an error is
logged to snmpd.log.
Resolution:
Unnecessary Error logging code are deleted but genuine
problems has been taken care of.
When implementing an interface mib with the extensible
agent, if a Physical address has a "00" byte the address
will terminated at this point. ie if the address is
specified as 0x080009123456 then the resulting value
in an snmpget request will be "08". if the address is
specified as "0x080109123456" then the resulting request
will get "08 01 09 12 34 56" - what you would expect.
Resolution:
The octect-string is stored in char array.
Modifications were made to take the proper length
PHSS_11376:
Defunc process removal was not handled in the code.
Resolution:
It was handled in the code.
PHSS_9512:
The defect occured because of unoptimised code in
emanate 12.x.
Resolution:
The problem was fixed.
PHSS_8739:
Defect is because of extsubagt looging trace mesgs for
error mesgs
Resolution:
Fixed and tested, now the agent logs error mesgs and
trace mesgs correctly.
PHSS_8649:
In the master agent HP uses its own configuration file,
so snmpresearch configuration file were not removed which
caused the unrelated error messages.
Resolution:
Fix is to comment out the nonrelated code in snmpr code
and use only the hp configuration code.
In extensible agent pipe_frequency was set to a large
number by the set request.
Resolution:
Did not assign any time during the set request since the
set works independent of the pipe frequency.
PHSS_8497:
There was not enough buffer to log the full message.
So full message was not logged and core dump accurs.
Resolution:
Increased the message_buf size
There was no function to update the snmpd.conf for
command line options.
Resolution:
Added a function which will update the snmpd.conf file.

========================================================
Before loading this patch, kindly note the following:
This OV Extensible SNMP Agent 4.04 (OV EAGENT4.0) patch
packages files which are common to both the OV EMANATE
14.2 and OV EAGENT4.0 patches. It also packages some
files which are specific to the Extensible SNMP Agent.
Generally, files in the OV EMANATE14.2 patches are
maintained with the latest versions with respect to
these common files. However, when OV EAGENT4.0 patch
is released, it comes with the cumulative fixes of the
latest OV EMANATE 14.2 patch at that time.
If the system contains any OV EMANATE patches which
were released AFTER this OV EAGENT4.0 patch release
date, it is recommend to re-install those OV EMANATE
patches after this OV EAGENT patch is installed.
The date of the patches is available in the patch text
file. OV EMANATE/EAGENT patch text files are installed
in the /opt/OV/ReleaseNotes/patches directory when the
patch is installed.

(PHCO_19985:)
1. at now + [n] months ignores leap year.
2. crontab(1) -e creates crontab job files
with incorrect permissions.
3. at(1) manpage needs to be modified.
4. Patches for cron(1M) should stop cron and
start the new cron.
5. PHCO_17552 does not have libc dependencies specified.
6. at(1) assumes the given time to be AM if the am_pm
string in the specified locale is NULL.
PHCO_20323:

PHCO_19757:
cron(1M) does not send mail with job output to user.
PHCO_17931:

at(1) does not accept input of "00" or "0" for year for
all locales.
PHCO_17498:
Port of PHCO_16864 to 10.26
(PHCO_16864)
1. On trusted systems, cron(1) has slower performance due
to calling getspwent() when getspwnam() should have
been used.
2. Cron from patch PHCO_15679 does not run at(1) and
batch(1) jobs.
3. at(1) schedules jobs incorrectly relative to
28 Feb of non-leap years.
4. at(1) does not recognize year 00 (2000). When year
is input as 00, at(1) exits with the error message -
"bad date specification"
PHCO_16958:
1. When an non-root user in /var/adm/cron/cron.allow tries
to run crontab -e and then saves, he gets
crontab: can't create your crontab file in the crontab
directory.
2. When a user submits an at job, /var/adm/cron/log shows
that the job was run, but job was not performed.
Defect Description:
PHCO_28511:
1. The cron daemon does not do privilege bracketing
effectively,as a result of which it was not able to
create the log file as per the entry (f_slevel) in
fcdb file.
Resolution:
Code has been modified to create the log file as per
the entry in fcdb file.
PHCO_24196:
Porting of 10.20 patch PHCO_22768
(PHCO_22768:)
1. crontab(1) incorrect functionality.
Resolution:
Code has been modified to take care of this issue.
2. When DST shift is due, there will be a non-existing
time in a day. When jobs are scheduled for such
non-existing times through commands like -
at now + <offset> minutes, at fails with message
"too late".
Resolution:
Now the code has been modified to take care of
jobs scheduled for non-existing times.
3. at(1) incorrect argument parsing.
Resolution:
The code has been modified to take care of this.
4. cron(1M) executes the job 2 days later than the
scheduled date, if a shift in daylight happens between
the current date and the scheduled date.
Resolution:
Now the code has been modified to take care of
jobs scheduled for non-existing times.
5. at(1) shows bad date specification when specifying
four digits time.
Resolution:
Now the code has been modified to accept the
four digits time.
(PHCO_19985:)
1. Setting the system date such that the day is any day
after 28th and executing the at(1) command to schedule
the job for the month of February in a leap year,
schedules the jobs incorrectly. The following
shows the incorrect behaviour of at(1).
$ date 1229084495
date:do you really want to run time backwards?[yes/no]yes
Fri Dec 29 08:44:00 EST 1995
$ at now + 2 month
warning: commands will be executed using /usr/bin/sh
job 825687848.a at Fri Mar 1 08:44:08 1996
at(1) should have scheduled the job for Feb 29.
Instead it is scheduling the job for Mar 1.
2. crontab when used with -e creates the job files
with read permission for all.
3. The manpage of at(1) needs to be more clear
regarding the ambiguity of dates.
4. The cron(1M) patches do not stop the old cron daemon
and start the new cron daemon. The starting and
stopping of the daemon does not correctly work in the
swinstall scripts since the signal mask of the cron
daemon gets modified through SD scripts.
5. The cron/at patches should have the libc
dependencies specified. Without the libc patch
PHCO_8108 installed, the at(1) command will fail
with an unresolved symbol error for 'snprintf'.
6. For certain locales like fr_FR.iso88591, where am_pm
string is defined as null ("";""), at(1) treats the
specified time to be AM. The following illustrates
the problem.
$ export LANG=fr_FR.iso88591
$ echo date | at 07:00 demain # OK
job 879487201.a at Vendredi 14 novembre 1997 07:00:00
$ echo date | at 20:00 # OK
job 879447600.a at Jeudi 13 novembre 1997 20:00:00
$ echo date | at 20:00 demain # BUG
Hours Field Is Invalid
Resolution:
1. Checking for the leap year before scheduling the
job, solves the problem.
2. The crontab command was relying on a macro for
permissions on the job file. This macro was incorrect.
This has been set right now. Now, crontab(1) creates
job files with read permission only for the owner.
3. Necessary changes are made to the at(1) manpage to
solve this problem.
4. Resetting the signal handlers in cron to their
respective defaults solves the problem.
5. Specifying the libc patch, PHCO_8108, in the patch
dependencies field solves the problem.
6. Checking for the value of am_pm string for the locale
solves the problem.
PHCO_20323:
Repackaged to allow this patch to be part of a patch bundle.
No changes made to the binaries. The changes are only made
in the installation scripts.
PHCO_19757:
When a jobs output is not redirected to a file, it should
be mailed to the submitter. This was not happening.
Resolution:
Enable cron to send output to the submitter.
PHCO_17931:
1. Handling of 'crontab -l' and 'crontab -r' is
incorrect for trusted systems.
2. Port of PHCO_17552
Resolution:
1. Removed special case code in order to behave like HP-UX
10.20. Updated man page for clarity.
2. Port of PHCO_17552
(PHCO_17552)
at(1) treats year input of 00 or 0 as incorrect when
locale is set to one which defines D_T_FMT (date-time)
string to have year in fields other than the third.
For eg. japanese locale defines the date string to
be of format yy/mm/dd. With locale set to japanese,
an attempt to schedule a job using at(1) for a date
00/12/20 or 0/12/20 fails.
(Resolution:)
at(1) assumed that the year field can be only in the
third field of the date string. This assumption has been
removed. Also, the function which returned error if the
date string had 0 or 00 in the first or second fields
has been changed not to check and return error for such
a condition. Now, at(1) accepts input of 0 or 00 for year
in any field of the date string, as specified by D_T_FMT
string for the locale.
PHCO_17498:
(PHCO_16864)
1. On trusted systems, cron(1) called getspwent() which
performs a linear search in the passwd database, instead
of getspwnam() which performs a keyed search.
2. After installing PHCO_15679, jobs submitted from
at(1) are never actually run, although they are
removed from the /var/spool/cron/atjobs queue.
3. Jobs scheduled after 28 Feb are scheduled
erratically by at(1). The following shows the
incorrect behaviour of at(1).
# date 0227112099
Sat Feb 27 11:20:00 GMT 1999
# at now + 2 day
warning: commands will be executed using /usr/bin/sh
job 920287223.a at Mon Mar 1 11:20:23 1999
# at now + 3 day
warning: commands will be executed using /usr/bin/sh
job 920287243.a at Mon Mar 1 11:20:43 1999
In the above example, job is scheduled for March 1st
for both the inputs "now + 2 day" and "now + 3 day".
For the input "now + 3 day", at(1) should have
scheduled the job for March 2nd 1999.
The source code has been changed to fix the defect.
After the fix, at(1) correctly schedules jobs
relative to Feb, 28th. In the above example, for
input "now + 3 day", at(1) schedules the job for
March 2nd.
4. at(1) treats year input of 00 as incorrect. Following
shows how at(1) behaves with 00 as input year.
# at 12:00 1 Jan 00
bad date specification
The command has been changed to accept 00 as year
2000.
After the fix, at(1) treats year input of 00 as
year 2000 and does not show any error messages.
Resolution:
Port PHCO_16864
PHCO_16958:
1. Code could not handle multi-level directory
2. stdin, stderr and stdout were being closed before the
shell was launched. This means, a shell would run with no
input and exit, resulting in a good return value.
Resolution:
1. Add code for multi-level directory
2. Move the close(2)'s up in the code, so that the proper
jobs are opened and stdout / stderr and handled correctly.
