o Security Bulletin Digest Split
------------------------------
The security bulletins digest has been split into multiple digests
based on the operating system (HP-UX, MPE/iX, and HP Secure OS
Software for Linux). You will continue to receive all security
bulletin digests unless you choose to update your subscriptions.
To update your subscriptions, use your browser to access the
IT Resource Center on the World Wide Web at:
http://support.itrc.hp.com/
Under the Maintenance and Support Menu, click on the "more..." link.
Then use the 'login' link at the left side of the screen to login
using your IT Resource Center User ID and Password.
Under the notifications section (near the bottom of the page), select
Support Information Digests.
To subscribe or unsubscribe to a specific security bulletin digest,
select or unselect the checkbox beside it. Then click the
"Update Subscriptions" button at the bottom of the page.

PROBLEM: Potential security vulnerability in rpc.yppasswdd
IMPACT: Potential denial of service, unauthorized access.
PLATFORM: HP 9000 Series 700 and 800 running HP-UX B.10.10,
B.10.20, B.11.00, B.11.11, B.11.22 using rpc.yppasswdd.
**REVISED 01**
SOLUTION: For B.10.20 until a patch is available install the
appropriate rpc.yppasswdd from the ftp site listed
below.
For B.11.00 install PHNE_28102.
For B.11.11 install PHNE_28103.
--> For B.11.22 install PHNE_28138.
MANUAL ACTIONS: Yes - NonUpdate
For B.10.20 install rpc.yppasswdd_10.20.
For B.11.00 install PHNE_28102, no manual action.
For B.11.11 install PHNE_28103, no manual action.
--> For B.11.22 install PHNE_28138, no manual action.
AVAILABILITY: The preliminary files are available now.
This bulletin will be revised when patches
are available.

A potential buffer overflow has been reported
in rpc.yppasswdd.
The SSRT thanks LSD Research Group (http://lsd-pl.net) for
reporting this potential vulnerability to HP.
B. Recommended solution
Note: Customers running HP-UX revision 10.10 should
write to security-alert
hp.com for more information.

patch containing the fix. To determine if a
system has an affected version, search the
output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
for an affected fileset, then determine if
a fixed revision or the applicable patch is
