Symptoms:
PHSS_28147:
Change Request: 8606271986
Service associations are not added if one of the services
is not defined in the same XML input file.
Change Request: 8606282309
'opcservice -check' does not print a warning if you
use whitespaces at the start or at the end of service
names.
Change Request: 8606307962
The -log_enable option of the opcservice command says
'Successful' when enabling the logging
of a non existent service.
Change Request: B555014389
Service assignments cause a lot more database activity
(CPU load, creation of redo-logs) than necessary.
Change Request: B555014757
opcservice -assign <operator> <service> returns no error
even if the <service> does not exist.
Change Request: B555017824
When the service engine has a large amount of services,
it may take a long time to run opcservice -check <file>.
Change Request: B555025308
'opcservice -replace' disables the logging for all other
services which have logging enabled at that time.
PHSS_27342:
- SR: B555011914
In rare cases the opcsvcm process might abort if there
are problems during the errorhandling of configuration
requests (list, add, replace, remove of services).
- SR: B555013351
opcservice might hang on certain systems after the
operation is done and the result is displayed.
- SR: B555013943
A complete removal of services with 'opcservice -remove'
doesn't trigger a config change notification message to
the JavaGUI clients so you'll have an outdated service
tree but don't know it.
- SR: B555013950
In some rare cases the opcsvcm process aborts due to an
uncaught exception which might occur after a config
request has been processed.
- SR: H553000299
opcservice -check doesn't detect if a service has
multiple associations to a source.
PHSS_25359:
- SR: B555011808
The example service file cluster.xml contains a very
strange service.
- SR: B555011809
opcservice is not able to load the ITO 5 example service
cluster.svc
- SR: B555011896
Service calculation rules with multiple thresholds are
not properly converted into the ITO 6 XML format if they
don't specify the threshold percentage. The line
"warning 0% setto normal" is properly converted, but
the line "warning setto normal" would be ignored.
- SR: B555011903
Service changes are not propagated after a server restart
if the service definitions contain MultiCalcRules where
only some severities are mentioned: all not mentioned
severities are ignored.
- SR: B555012331
JavaGUI startup is very slow if you have lots of services
and there are lots of service status changes during the
startup. E.g. if you have a 3 MB service repository and
get one status change per second the startup time will
grow from 40 seconds up to 10 minutes.
- SR: 8606224584
You don't know when the opcsvcm is done with it's
initialization as there is no status info except in
the tracing.
PHSS_24741:
- SR: B555007667
opcservice -log does not replace the registration for
the same service.
- SR: B555009175
opcsvcconv does not convert all ampersand (&) signs, only
the first ampersand per line.
- SR: B555009794
opcservice -check reports errors for operator assignments
while -add accepts them.
- SR: B555011187
Assigning and adding services is slow if the service
repository is large.
- SR: H553000484
opcservice -calc option doesn't list any calculation
rules.
- SR: B555011805 and B555012121
opcservice does not allow SJIS or other non-ASCII
characters.
- SR: B555011806
Removing the A.06.08 Service Navigator patch removes the
service repository file and logging configuration file.
- SR: B555011159
opcservice -assign does not return an error if the
operator does not exist.
PHSS_23606:
- SR: 8606203780
The example gensvc_ito.sh script creates invalid output
for external nodes ('opcservice -check' won't accept
the resulting service definition). Secondly there was a
typo in the act_opcsv_hbp_status action definition
(hpb instead of hbp).
- SR: B555009686
'opcservice -check' doesn't report any errors other than
"Error: ItoUtil::Error"
- SR: B555010013
If you run 'opcservice -add <filename>' with a filename
which does not exist, you get a strange error:
"Error: XML parse error in 'file:<filename>', line 1,
char 1: missing '<'"
Instead I would expect something like:
"Error: Can't open 'file:/.root/something' for
reading."
Same problem appears for the '-replace <file>' and '-
check <file>' options.
- SR: B555010169
The service engine (opcsvcm) sometime crashes in the
middle of config change operations.
- SR: B555010265
opcservice -dump didn't work, just returned the message:
"Error: File argument missing for 'dump' operation."
- SR: B555010756
The service engine periodically dies if a config change
is finished while a change log to the database is still
in progress
- SR: B555010816
The example service definition cltsvr.xml was garbled.
- SR: B555010877
The opcsvcconf service definition conversion utility has
problems converting a service with the ITO 5 syntax if it
contains lines like
use "something" {}
The resulting service definition is garbled.
- SR: H553000306
When using the -remove option with opcservice, the output
is always: "Successfully removed services" even if you
remove actions/proprules/calcrules/operators which didn't
exist.
- SR: B555011101
'opcservice -remove' sometimes does not remove all
services if the service repository is too complex.
PHSS_22696:
- The output of opcservice -list -xml contained invalid
tags for actions and calculation rules. Therefore this
output could not be fed into the service engine again.
- 'opcservice -replace' does not replace services which
are assigned to an operator.
- Service Navigator status colors aren't updated after
opcsv -start
- If a propagation rule with 'Ignore' is used, the service
status in the Service Navigator is not propagated for
any service.
PHSS_22306:
- Wrong parameter checking in opcservice shell script
leads to unhandled shell error messages.
- the first assignment of a service to an operator which
did not yet exist in the service engine was not
performed
- service engine core throws a CNotFound exception when
the requested object is not known.
- Service data in code sets other than ISO8859-1 leads to
unreadable output of the opcservice command
- Service Engine: replace removes association to common
twice contained subservice
- operator is not informed if there is a change in Service
configuration and he has to reload config (in JavaUI)
- Default propagation rules are not correctly written to
the service engine's service repository if the
propagation rule has both a default rule and severity
specific rules.
- Connection to service engine fails after 12 hours use
- Improved thread handling and process termination
- wrong include dependencies in results.dtd file
- opcservice does not return errorcodes
- When using multiple instances of the class ServiceEngine
in a service API program, it core dumps when creating
the second instance.
- When a service for which logging has been enabled is
removed and the service engine restarted, the engine
crashes and is not able to restart.
- Can not use service examples in
/opt/OV/OpC/examples/services directory out of box
- Opcservice and opcsvcterm coredump
- The service navigator API starts a signal handler
thread, thus applications using the SN-API cannot use
signals at all.
Defect Description:
PHSS_28147:
Change Request: 8606271986
Before adding anything the XML input was checked for
consistency and those associations where target or source
did not exist in the input as well, had been discarded.
Now the whole service repository is also searched for
the source and target services.
Change Request: 8606282309
'opcservice -check' does not print a warning if you
use whitespaces at the start or at the end of service
names which leads to a confusion in case these whitespaces
have been added by accident.
Change Request: 8606307962
The service list passed to 'log_enable' was not checked
for existence.
Change Request: B555014389
A service config change (opcservice -replace or -add)
shouldn't rebuild the assignment tables from scratch
but instead only write the changes into the database.
Change Request: B555014757
The service list passed to '-assign' was not checked
for existence.
Change Request: B555017824
The checking algorithm queried the whole service tree
very often instead of querying it once before starting
the check.
Change Request: B555025308
The internal handling of logging change events rebuilt
the logging table from scratch each time something was
changed - instead of just applying the change.
PHSS_27342:
- SR: B555013351
This is probably an OS problem, but we can implement
a workaround in opcservice so that exits as soon as the
result is delivered by opcsvcm, even if the connection
to opcsvcm is still open.
- SR: B555013950
In some rare cases the opcsvcm process aborts due to an
uncaught exception which might occur after a config
request has been processed. The exception has to be
caught and an error into the opcerror log file has to
be generated.
for SR's not listed in this section please see
the list of symptoms
PHSS_25359:
- SR: B555011808
The example service file cluster.xml contains a very
strange service. It was not properly converted from the
ITO 5 example cluster.svc
- SR: B555011808
The opcsvcm had problems loading an <Action> without
a defined <Command> or <URL>.
For a complete fix you need the A.06.10 libopcsvcreader
coming with the A.06.10 intermediate ITO server patch.
- SR: B555011903
The service engine doesn't properly add services which
have <CalcMultiThreshold>s where only some but not all
severities are handled because it sets all not mentioned
severities to "Normal" per default.
- SR: B555012331
The service engine locking mechanism gives the status
changes a higher prio over the service tree query,
so if there are lots of changes, the query won't get
a lock on the service engine to get its information.
Now you can specify how long the service engine will
wait after some changes are processed until the next
chunk is read from the queue. Use the opcsvinfo variable
SVCMSG_READ_INTERVAL to define the sleep interval in
seconds (default is '1'). Don't use too high numbers
because those status changes which are acknowledged
within the same interval will not be logged.
-SR: 8606224584
You don't know when the opcsvcm is done with it's
initialization so we added the status to the 'ps -ef'
info which now returns either:
... opcsvcm: initializing
or
... opcsvcm: running
for SR's not listed in this section please see
the list of symptoms
PHSS_24741:
- SR: B555011187
Assigning and adding services is slow if the service
repository is large because for each operation the
assignment tables in the database are rebuilt instead
of just adding the new information.
- SR: H553000484
opcservice -calc option doesn't list any calculation
rules because a wrong output message from the message
catalog was used.
for SR's not listed in this section please see
the list of symptoms
PHSS_23606:
- SR: B555009686
The error handling of opcservice contained a bug so that
all the information about a service definition parse
error was lost before the error was reported.
- SR: B555010013
opcservice didn't check whether a file exists before
reading it. This check was now added.
- SR: B555010169
The service engine didn't use a proper locking mechanism
to disallow multiple parallel config change operations.
- SR: B555010756
The service engine periodically dies if a config change
is finished while a change log to the database is still
in progress because the config change task doesn't
wait for still active threads but destroys some resources
needed by these threads.
- SR: B555010816
The example service definition cltsvr.xml was garbled
because it hadn't been properly converted from the
ITO A.05.30 file cltsvr.svc
- SR: B555010877
The opcsvcconf service definition conversion utility has
problems converting a service with the ITO 5 syntax if it
contains lines like
use "something" {}
As a workaround you had to use
use "something";
Now each '{}' is implicitly converted to ';' and you
get a WARNING if there is still more than one bracket
in one line.
- SR: B555011101
'opcservice -remove' sometimes does not remove all
services if the service repository is too complex
so opcservice has to call the opcsvcm again to remove
all services until they are really gone.
- SR: H553000306
The opcsvcm tries to remove the service from the list
of services and creates an error but the error was not
passed back to the callin opcservice command so far.

Symptoms:
PHCO_30438:
( SR:8606328942 CR:JAGae90079 )
Over a period of time, the cimserver process might run out
of file descriptors. This would cause failures when
attempting to query the cimserver through a WBEM client. One
common failure would be authentication failures.
( SR:8606328943 CR:JAGae90080 )
The IO Tree Provider prints messages such as -
"0/1/1/0:No device information associated with this
hardware path", on the console. These messages are not
indicative of an error and should not be printed on the
console.
( SR:8606347205 CR:JAGaf08029 )
The IO Tree Provider might report some platform management
devices, such as "Core I/O Adapter", "IPMI Controller" and
"Acpi Hardware", as PCI devices when queried for instances
of HPUX_PCIDevice by a WBEM client.
Defect Description:
PHCO_30438:
( SR:8606328942 CR:JAGae90079 )
The IO Tree WBEM Provider causes a gradual leak of file
descriptors. This can happen when a WBEM client repeatedly
queries for PCI slot and card information, which are handled
by the IO Tree Provider. Since the number of file
descriptors allowable to a process is limited, the parent
cimserver process will eventually not be able to open any
files. At that point, the only solution is to restart the
cimserver.
Resolution:
The fix is to ensure that the IO Tree Provider always closes
any files it opens, before returning control to the
cimserver. This must be done for every request.
( SR:8606328943 CR:JAGae90080 )
The IO Tree Provider has some debug print statements that
are enabled in the non-debug version of the provider.
Resolution:
The resolution is to ensure that all debug print statements
are enabled only in the debug version of the provider.
( SR:8606347205 CR:JAGaf08029 )
On some platforms, platform management devices such as
"Core I/O Adapter", "IPMI Controller" and "ACPI Hardware"
are reported by commands such as ioscan, even though they
cannot be directly accessed by the OS. The IO Tree Provider
reports such devices as instances of the HPUX_PCIDevice
class and returns incorrect values for some of the
properties.
Resolution:
The fix is to filter out devices that are not claimed by PCI
drivers in the IO Tree Provider. These devices will not be
reported as instances of the HPUX_PCIDevice class.

Change Request: 8606333207
The Logfile Encapsulator may lose messages when
monitoring files that periodically get renamed.
Change Request: 8606323492
OVO 7.20 agent on Solaris the man-page of opcswitchuser
states:
To always start the agents under the new user account
after a system reboot, modify the agent startup scripts,
for example /sbin/init.d/opcagt on HP-UX and
/etc/init.d/opcagt on Solaris. Add the same user you
have specified with opcswitchuser.sh to the line "USER=".
Checking /sbin/init.d/opcagt on HP-UX you can properly
find this "USER=" line and a respective if-clause for
the startup of the agent. However on Solaris in
/etc/init.d/opcagt this variable does not exist at all
and there is also no built-in possibility to start the
agent as different than root-user at boot-time.
Change Request: H555010925
The following error message appears in opcerror file:
>> Cannot retrieve value of type 'MDT_UINT32' in
column '4' of interval '0'(OpC30-762) <<
Change Request: B555023808

Change Request: B555025523
Enhance opcagt for coexistence with future versions of
components.
Change Request: H555011234
opcacta often reports a mutex error (OpC20-1055) and
a wait(2) error (OpC20-413). After the error, opcacta is
running and can execute the request. But it cannot
return the action result to the requester. Therefore OVO
operators cannot receive the action result.
Change Request: B555019025
opcswitchuser.sh allows for a non existent group to be
assigned.
Change Request: R555025398
The logfile encapsulator loses one file handle per
configured interval, if all of the following conditions
are met:
- the logfile name is dynamically evaluated via a script
- the script returns file names that cannot be opened
- the logfile template defines a 'file to be read'
Under these conditions the 'file to be read' will be
opened over and over.
Change Request: H555009905
If the agent is manually installed on the node, opc_inst
does not cleanup after itself once the installation is
completed. The installation packages remain in the
installation directory as does the opc_inst script.
Change Request: H555011688
Messages are sent with wrong ip address from agent to
mgmt_sv. Messages are forwarded with the ip address
specified in /etc/hosts instead of using the value in
OPC_IP_ADDRESS.
Change Request: 8606342477

HPlwdce 1.1.4.21.3 introduces new startup/shutdown

if they exists at the installation time. Because of this,

PHSS_30205:
Change Request: R555026193
An Advanced Monitor only sent a message the first time
a threshold is reached. For example, if a template has
three thresholds of 75, 50, and 25 and the values of
33, 55, 88, 60, 30, and 10 were given, messages were
only sent for 33, 55, and 88. A reset msg is sent for 10
which attempts to acknowledge the 25 threshold which is
no longer in the browser.
Now, messages are sent for 33, 55, 88, 60, and 30. The
reset message then acknowledges the correct message.
The opcinfo variable OPC_MONA_MSG_PER_STATE has been
added to reflect this behaviour:
TRUE (default) reflects the new and correct behavior.
FALSE has opcmona return to it's previous behaviour of
only sending one message per state.

Change Request: B555021669, B555024574
1. The original message text is now evaluated once per
trap (no longer once per trap and template). This change
can speed up opctrapi up to 50% when many trap templates
are used.
2. opctrapi will now evaluate an opcinfo variable
OPC_SEND_MAX_ONE_MSG_PER_TRAP. If set to TRUE, opctrapi
will skip processing further templates for a trap after
one template generated a message out of this trap.
NOTE: Disconnection from pmd is still possible but will
happen less frequently.

Change Request: R555026123
The monitor agent had a problem that it does thresholding
against multiple source policies even when they are
configured to process each instance separately. This
threshold checking was done for the first set of
instances found, but not for all. This behavior has been
corrected, but the result is that policies that rely on
this behavior will no longer work.
In order to prevent this, the old behavior has been
reintroduced. Two opcinfo variables exist to configure
the monitor agent behavior. If no instance is available
in all sources the script is called once. By setting the
nodeinfo variable POLICY_NO_INST_CALL_SCRIPT to FALSE it
is possible to define that the script is not called if no
matching instances are available. If the nodeinfo
variable POLICY_NO_INST_SEND_MSG is set to TRUE a warning
message is created if no matching instances are
available. The message contains also the available
instances for all sources. The default is that no message
is created.
Change Request: 8606343025
When tracing is enabled the opcctla terminates with SEGV
because of the NULL string pointer access by strlen()

is NULL then the default string <Null> will be used

Nonreentrant library calls were used. The potential for

The error "Illegal value (function ) (OpC10-13)" is
accidentally reported by opcecaas/opcecmas when using
the built in ECS annotate server as well as a custom

annotate server and logs an error instead of ignoring
those requests.
Now it ignores those requests and only logs a note to

a running opcctla that is not reachable via RPC:
opcagt -status will display a warning if the currently
running opcctla is not reachable over RPC, but then it

The control agent has been changed in order to make the
restart of aborted sub agent process configurable.
The control agent is be configured to restart aborted sub
agent processes.
Furthermore it can be defined how often a process should
be restarted in a certain time interval.
To configure this, you can use the following opcinfo
variables:
OPC_RESTART_SUBAGENT
If set to true, the control agent tries
to restart aborted sub agent processes.
The restart is done a defined number of
times (OPC_RESTART_COUNT) in a specified
period of time (OPC_RESTART_MINIMUM_RUN_TIME).
In case the process aborts more often,
it wont be restarted again.
Type/Unit : TRUE|FALSE
Default : TRUE
OPC_RESTART_COUNT
Defines how often an aborted sub agent process
should be restarted. Within the specified
minimum runtime. In case a process stops more often
it wont be restarted.
(See OPC_RESTART_SUBAGENT)
Type/Unit : integer
Default : 5
OPC_RESTART_DELAY
Defines the time the control agent waits
before it restarts an aborted sub agent
process. The time is specified in seconds.
Type/Unit : integer
Default : 10
OPC_RESTART_MINIMUM_RUN_TIME
Defines the timeframe a sub agent process
should run without being restarted more
than specified by OPC_RESTART_COUNT.
The time is specified in minutes.
Type/Unit : integer (minutes)
Default : 60

Change Request: B555015349
The monitor agent aborts when using templates/policies
with external sources as soon as it receives a value
from the external source during checking for the
threshold with a previously received value. In this case
the received value is stored temporary and as soon as the
monitor agent

is that the montior agent tries to free up already freed
memory.

The support tool /opt/OV/contrib/OpC/opcnetchk was
introduced to allow a basic ICMP check, TCP check and
SNMP check.
Change Request: H555008602
When using OPC_RPC_ONLY, ICMP handling is not
initialized, but the message agent will call
opc_pb_ping_reset() after a successful server checkalive
cycle. This causes an invalid (NULL) pointer to be
dereferenced and causes a core dump.
opc_pb_ping_reset() now has a check to see if ICMP
handling has been initialized and if not, immediately
returns from the function.
Change Request: R555019153
When deplying policies from a Windows management server
and using the "StoreCollection" method within the Perl
or VBScript, the monitor agent might show the Policy name
instead of the given metricname or may abort.
Change Request: B555014591
The defect was caused by the double conversion from the
server code set to the internal code set, once on the
agents side when it sent the internal message to opcmsga
and once by opcmsgi when it forwarded the message again.
Now, the message is converted back from the internal code
set to the server code set in opcmsga before sending the
message to the opcmsgi queue. The management server will
get the message through opcmsga in the internal code set,
and it will convert it into the server code set.
The conversion is made only if the internal code set is
different from the server code set.
Change Request: B553003927
opcmsgi leaks memory when handling messages with custom

Change Request: B555014942
The opcle process loops if a logfile is removed while
it is read.
Change Request: H555006719
When a communication to a message receiver fails, the
message agent starts buffering messages. It periodically
checks if a server is alive by sending it ICMP packets.
If the server cannot be reached with ICMP packets, no RPC
communication is attempted. Sending ICMP packets is not
possible when the agent is running as a non-root user, so
the sending function cannot actually send anything.
Therefore we also never receive any replies and the
message agent will buffer messages forever. To fix this,
the internal state of the message agent is updated after
we tried to send an ICMP packet if the agent is running
as a non-root user.
Change Request: B555014851
opcmsga maintains an internal cache to find out the
target managers per message ID. The cache expires
after 1 hour (can be changed with the opcsvinfo variable
OPC_STORE_TIME_FOR_MGR_INFO) and then it runs into a
problem in its algorithm so that a message operation on
a non-cached message is sent again and again until the
last target manager in an internal list can be reached.
Change Request: B555013891
Even if the IP address of the management server was
specified in the mgrconf file, it was not used except for
the primary manager. This behavior was changed to give
the mgrconf file precedence over name resolution.
Change Request: H555008631
NCS agent open() and stat() calls did not handle EINTR,

Change Request: B555014093
opcmona may crash (UNIX) or doesn't process all SCHEDULE
templates (Windows) when using SCHEDULE templates.
This can occur when there are only spaces in
one of the schedule fields (Minute, Hour, Day of the
Month, Month, Year, Day of the Week).
You can verify this by going to the conf/OpC directory on
the node and doing an opcdcode monitor. When
there are entries like WEEKDAY " " the problem can occur.
Now the monitor agent treats sequences of spaces like
an empty string that is a wildcard and uses all valid
values in the possible range.
For WEEKDAY this is 0-6.

Change Request: B555013719
Message agent remains in buffering mode even when
the management server is available again.
The reason is that the agent wasn't able to resolve
the management server name to an IP address at startup
and the agent doesn't try again during runtime.
This has been fixed by checking for a resolvable name
every time a message should be buffered till the name can
be resolved, after this the normal checkalive mechanism
which handles buffered message takes place.
Change Request: H555008275
Signal handler for SIGIO was installed before the socket
on which we receive ICMP replies was set to non-blocking
mode. An unsolicited SIGIO would trigger the signal
handler which would wait indefinitely on the socket for
data, which would never arrive. Since NCS agent is
single-threaded, all communication would stop.
The fix is in setting the non-blocking mode before
installing the signal handler, so it would not wait
forever.
Change Request: 8606187183
The opcmsg interceptor restarts after a deploy/undeploy

During a distribution the agent may report error number
OPC30-1203/OPC20-63 when trying to access the cfgchg

Special Installation Instructions:
BEFORE LOADING THIS PATCH...
(A) Patch Installation Instructions
-------------------------------
(A1) Install the patch, following the standard
installation instructions.
For backing up the system before installing
a patch, you may use opc_backup(1m)
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT NO AGENT OF THE PLATFORM
ADDRESSED BY THIS PATCH IS DISTRIBUTED
(either from the VPO Administrator's GUI
or from command line using inst.sh) WHILE
RUNNING SWINSTALL.
NOTE: This patch must be installed on the VPO Management
Server system, NOT on an VPO Managed Node directly.
Changes will take effect on managed nodes by means of
VPO Software Distribution (using 'Force Update' if
there is already an agent installed on the managed
node). See chapter 2 of the VPO Administrator's
Reference manual for more information.
NOTE: The VPO Agent consists of several components that
are patched individually. This patch updates only the
Event/Action component. Therefore the software
distribution will tell, that the agent software is
updated to A.07.10, not to A.07.12. Also the version
of the ITOAgent bundle will still be A.07.10. You can
verify the installed version of the components on the
agent system using opcragt -agent_version.
For example:
opcragt -agent_version hpbbln8
Node hpbbln8.bbn.hp.com:
OPC_INSTALLED_VERSION = A.07.12
PERF_INSTALLED_VERSION = A.07.10
COMM_INSTALLED_VERSION = 2.5.3.9
Done.
(B) Patch Deinstallation Instructions
---------------------------------
(B1) To deinstall the patch PHSS_30673 run swremove:
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT NO AGENT OF THE PLATFORM
ADDRESSED BY THIS PATCH IS DISTRIBUTED (either

PHSS_28073:
8606249222: OV Events are the internal events for
communication between the OV NNM daemons. The definition
for these events could change between NNM versions and
hence the corresponding MIB file was not included in the
HP proprietary MIBs directory.
Resolution:
8606249222: The script
"$OV_CONTRIB/NNM/event/genTrapdEventsMIB.ovpl" has
been provided to read the "trapd.conf" file, extract the
OV Events and create the MIB file.
PHSS_27917:

introduced command line option -pollXServer.
Resolution:
8606270618: Manual page of ovw is modified to reflect the
new ovw command line option -pollXServer.
8606275431: ovw executing in command line mode does not
unregister on an exit. Incorrect handling of exit by
ovuispmd for an unregistered ovw client.
Resolution:
8606275431: ovuispmd has been modified to handle the exit
of unregistered ovw clients.
8606271492: Some of the events contain the hostname of the
node in the second varbind. This was not documented in the
trapd.conf file.
Resolution:
8606271492: The information for events which contain
hostname of node in the second varbind is now updated
in the trapd.conf file.

OV_DataColl_Agent_Restart in trapd.conf has been corrected.
8606266330: The '-S' and '-R' options of netmon are
mutually exclusive.
Resolution:
8606266330: The '-S' option was introduced for some
specific Cisco routers which are now obsolete. Hence, the
option has been deprecated.
8606228341: Expression Guru of snmpCollect was not querying
all the variables on the agent and hence not verifying
before deciding the direct expressions.
Resolution:
8606228341: Code has been added to expression guru of
snmpCollect to query and verify all the related mib
variables in the percenterrors category before deciding the
direct expressions.
8606249375: One of the decoding routines in libovsnmp did
not handle a particular case.
Resolution:
8606249375: The decoding routine in libovsnmp is corrected.
8606276676: netmon man page had formatting errors.

the right explanation for Level2 status.
8606274196: Incorrect handling of segment reduction by
netmon.
Resolution:
8606274196: netmon has been modified to handle secondary
version of network objects.
8606276402: When ovwdb is started with the "-n" option,
only a subset of the objects as specified with the "-n"
option is cached in memory. When a search is made on an
attribute only the cached objects were checked. If
there were objects in the database with that attribute
value but which were not present in the cache, ovwdb never
returned these objects to ovw.
Resolution:
8606276402: ovwdb has been modified to search the database
for non-cached objects.
8606270823: NNM is displaying incorrect error message text
when integrated with SMS.
Resolution:
8606270823: Error message text has been modified.
8606268260: Incorrect behavior of NNM , when integrated
with OVO, on Windows.
Resolution:
8606268260: Code has been modified to handle timestamp.
8606272237: NNM database and the table owner name were
being prefixed to the table name in all the generated
reports, leading to OVreporter not locating the tables.
This led to error in report generation.
Resolution:
8606272237: Report templates have been modified to remove
the database and the table owner name prefixes from the
table name.
PHSS_27867:
ovw, xnmevents or any gui application needs locale
specific resource file to show correct fonts. For Chinese,
Korean or any Asian character display, these locale
specific resource files are missing.
Resolution:
Locale specific resource files have been provided in the
patch. These files will get installed into $OV_NEW_CONF
directory and then later they will be copied under
directory /usr/lib/X11/$LANG/app-defaults/, where the GUI
applications look for it. $LANG refers to locale name in
which GUI applications are running. This patch provides
the resource files for ko_KR.eucKR, zh_CN.hp15CN, and
zh_TW.big5 locales.
PHSS_27836:
8606274432: The thread's stack limitation was causing the
mmonitor to incorrectly handle the local buffers defined in
libovsnmp.
Resolution:
8606274432: libovsnmp has been modified to allocate the
local buffers from the heap memory.
8606276721: A problem with the usage of the dictionary
resulted in the abnormal exit of the ECS engine.
Resolution:
8606276721: Code was modified to fix the problem in the
dictionary.
8606276687: An assumption was made as to the existence of
the file that has to be provided with the -mibFile option.
Resolution:
8606276687: Validated the existence of the file before
processing it.
PHSS_27747:
8606266737: A libovsnmp function was not handling improper
length values while receiving packets.
Resolution:
8606266737: The libovsnmp function was modified to handle
improper length values correctly.
8606266915: ovlauncher failed to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
Resoluion:
8606266915 : Code has been implemented to convert non-C and
non-Japanese strings to UTF8.
8606264074: The logic in ovw that determines the highest
submap in the IP Map hierarchy given a source object did not
handle Location submaps.
Resolution:
8606264074 : Code is added to handle Location Submaps when
an object appears in a Location Submap.
8606272817: SNMP response packet contained invalid
error_index value.
Resolution:
8606272817: Modified netmon to handle invalid SNMP
responses.
8606266361: No useful information provided in the message
for problem isolation.
Resolution:
8606266361: Useful information, to assist in problem
isolation provided as a part of the message.
8606267983: A function call returns incorrect value for the
event belonging to category IGNORE (Don't log or Display),
which further causes ovactiond to crash.
Resolution:
8606267983: Defective function was modified to return a
proper value for events belonging to IGNORE category.
8606254823: The number of records to be provided in a
configured report was being limited to a pre-configured
value of ten.
Resolution:
8606254823: Code has been modified to accept the value set
for the variable 'topn_count' in the file
$OV_ANALYSIS_CONF/global.conf and/or the value set for the
variable 'REPORT_TOPN' in the file request.properties
( nested in the $OV_REQUESTD_MAIN_PATH/requests
subdirectories ) associated with the configured report.
8606261353: The connections between the device and the other
end points of the connections are not preserved inside the
location container.
Resolution:
8606261353: ipmap's logic of handling deletion of objects
from a map was modified to preserve the connections inside
the location container.
8606269552: When building the SNMP packet header, the length
of the community name is assumed to be less than 128 bytes.
Resolution:
8606269552: Encoding the length of the community name in the
SNMP packet header has been modified to accept upto 255
bytes.
8606272791: ovtrapd man page was not updated for 64KB trap
enhancement.
Resolution:
8606272791: ovtrapd man page has been updated to include the
64KB trap enhancement.
8606264870: snmpCollect did not handle certain cases during
collection check which resulted in misleading error
messages.
Resolution:
8606264870: Code has been modified to handle those cases
which resulted in misleading error messages.
8606264777: The comparison routine was case sensitive.
Resolution:
8606264777: The comparison routine is modified to be case
insensitive.
8606270467: ovbackup.ovpl accepts a timeout value for
ovresume. This value is passed to all the scripts that
execute ovresume. There could be certain scripts nested in
the $OV_CONF/ovbackup directory that may fail to recognise
the timeout value passed as a parameter, leading to the
failure of that script.
Resolution:
8606270467: In the ovbackup.ovpl script, the script
nnm_checkpoint.ovpl has been isolated to receive the
ovresume timeout value, while the other scripts or binaries
placed in the subdirectories of $OV_CONF/ovbackup ( if any )
do not receive the value.
8606270556: Cannot find Release Notes or Manuals for non-C
and non-Japanese locales.
Resolution:
8606270556: Code has been modified to display the Release
Notes and Manuals in C locale on non-availability of the
requested locale.
8606271466: The menu item "Help->NNM->Patches and
updates" gives the erroneous product version information.
Resolution:
8606271466: Product version information file has been
updated.
8606267361: The buffer used to copy the entries in the file
was hardcoded to hold upto 150 entries.
Resolution:
8606267361: Allocated the buffer to hold all the entries in
the file.
8606246340: Insufficient buffer allocation for holding the
error message caused netmon to dump core instead of printing
the error message.
Resolution:
8606246340: The buffer was allocated suitably for holding
the error message. Hence netmon would now print the error
message.
PHSS_27644:
Double quotes in the ifAlias value for interfaces were not
handled in the report generation code.
Resolution:
The code has been modified to handle double quotes in the
ifAlias value.
PHSS_27641:
The deletion of a symbol (or a submap) involves removing
the symbol (or submap) information, the map object and the
object in the object database. These three operations do
not happen as one single atomic operation. Invalid symbols
and submaps are left behind if ovw aborts after the
deletion of the map object and the object in the object
database, but before the removal of the symbol (or submap)
information.
Resolution:
The verbose option of ovw -mapcount is enhanced to do a
listing of invalid symbols and submaps. A new option '-c'
is provided with ovw -mapcount to clean such invalid
symbols and submaps.
PHSS_27639:
http server process was not handling the bad requests
properly.
Resolution:
Code has been added for handling the bad requests properly.
PHSS_27626:
1.OVdrawNodes.pm was failing to encode XML-special
characters: <>'&". This was causing XML parsing errors.
2.This problem occurs when the server and the browser
are running in different locales.
Resolution:
1.Code has been changed in OVdrawNodes.pm to encode XML
special and non-printable characters.
2.Code is implemented for the server and the browser to
communicate with the UTF8 codeset.
PHSS_27624:
submap is not removed from the router symbol's submap
list. Selecting an event in xnmevents corresponding to the
same router causes NULL pointer access when previous
submap is dereferenced for the router symbol.
Resolution:
ovw is modified to check for NULL pointer dereferencing
before accessing any submap for the symbol's submap list.
PHSS_27617:
Memory allocated to a particular pointer was not freed
properly.
Resolution:
The allocated memory is now freed properly, at appropriate
position.
PHSS_27615:
ovactiond man page does not clearly explain what happens
in the case of multiple events occuring simultaneously.
Resolution:
The man page is updated with the information about
ovactiond behaviour in the case of multiple events
occuring simultaneously.
PHSS_27572:
Loading of MIBs with the -trapType option was incorrectly
handled by xnmloadmib under the Japanese locale.
Resolution:
Modified xnmloadmib to load the MIBs with the -trapType
option under the Japanese locale.
Enhancement:
No
