    Sorry for the ignorance if there are some widely available solutions, but I
    was wondering beyond the Cisco ethernet switch, are there any embedded IDS
    solutions in Operating Systems, Web Servers, Routers, Switches etc.? It
    seems relatively obvious that it would make sense to embed some of the
    detection/protection function rather than trying to implement a security
    overlay. If so, is there experience out there with any of these products?
