[Moderator: I don't usually go for Business Wire 'news', nor anything
HERF/Infowar related like this. But, this is a solid claim of first
time public demonstration of theory infowarfare. We'll see.]

First-Time Demo of Electromagnetic Disruption Device at InfowarCon `99
BUSINESS WIRE, 08/12/99
FRAMINGHAM, MA - The first ever public demonstration of an electromagnetic
disruption device and its ramifications on today's technology will take
place at InfowarCon '99 in Washington, DC, September 8-9, 1999. The
techniques and methodologies used in the demo have been developed entirely
from open source information, technical engineering knowledge, and
mechanical skills. A strategic session on detecting and defending against
these weapons will follow the demonstration.
"This demo and the topics covered in the conference will drive home the
reality of cyber-terrorism. It's real and it's here," said Winn Schwartau,
the recognized civilian architect of information warfare. "We can no
longer hide our heads in the sand in the belief that terrorists only
strike the `other guys'."
Presented by MIS Training Institute, the international leader in audit and
information security training, and by Winn Schwartau, President of
Interpact, Inc., InfowarCon '99 zeroes in on the growing threat of
high-tech terrorism in today's information-driven world. The conference
focuses on options, directions, and solutions for defending private and
government infrastructures. Session topics cover the full gamut of hot
infowar issues, including national infrastructure protection, combatting
cyber-terrorists, corporate vigilantism, circumventing Internet
censorship, corporate crime forensics, detecting and deflecting tempest
radiation, physically protecting the virtual, identity theft, and more.
The conference faculty includes military leaders and captains of industry
from the Department of Defense, Europol, Citicorp, the National
Infrastructure Protection Center, Lucent Technology, U.S. Dept. of Justice
Cyber Crime Unit, and other highly-regarded organizations at the
frontlines of technology research and deployment.
Optional, full-day workshops before and after the conference offer
in-depth learning on strategic gaming, hacking tools, forensics for cyber
investigations, information operations for warfighting, emergency response
policies from local to national levels, global infrastructure analysis,
building CERTs, and Linux basics. Complete conference details and
registration information are available at www.misti.com./conf.asp
