LONDON--A London-based Internet company is offering $50,000 to anyone who
can hack into its high-security service, which includes self-destructing
emails.
Global Market says the encryption on its 1on1 service is unbreakable
within a reasonable period of time, and it is putting its money where its
mouth is.
"There are other companies offering security, not quite to the same extent
as us, and not to the same level of security. Nobody else offers the
self-destruct email," said Steven James, the company's technical director.
The special security feature, called autoshredder, allows a user to order
an email to delete itself at a specific time from the recipient's
computer. When it is deleted there is no trace of the message.
It is designed to prevent emails with personal or confidential information
from going astray or getting into the wrong hands. The system also tells
recipients when the mail is received and when it is opened.
"We guarantee mail will be delivered, and we guarantee its security as
well and its tracking," James said.
