NEW DELHI: Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a body under the
Department of Information Technology, India, and the National Computer
Board of Mauritius today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for
cooperating on Information Security.

According to the MoU both the governments will collaborate on best
practices in the filed of information security risk profiling and
emergency security alerts. The two countries will also share information
related to computer security threats ann counter measures.

Talking to CyberMedia News after signing the MoU, Union Communications
and IT minister Dayanidhi Maran said that the agreement was important in
the context of increase in the number of attacks. Both the countries
will now develop joint proposals to keep themselves update on the
worldwide trends on various kinds of viruses and malwares.

To implement the scope of cooperation, the two countries will set up an
India-Mauritius Working Group on Information Security, which will be
entrusted with setting-up of communication channels for exchange of
information. The group will also advice in developing an action plan and
implementing the Mauritius Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-MU),
on the lines of CERT-In.

The working group will be involved in capacity building for the staff
who will be involved in the CERT-MU with respect to security incident
handling and reporting, analysis of threats, vulnerability assessment,
security advisories and helpdesk support. It will train Chief
Information Officers (CIOs) of Mauritius in the area of Cyber security.
Developing skills through exchange programs, training programs and
seminars in the field of IT security, exchanging of technical experts
are also part of the MoU.

Etienne Sinatambou, Minister of Information Technology and
Telecommunications, Mauritius, said that the MoU was the first step in
bilateral cooperation in ICT sector between the two countries.
