Professor Ted Humphreys, the world leading expert on information
security management system (ISMS), the developer of the international
standards on information security management standards ISO 27001, will
come to Vietnam in late November 2007.
He will share his knowledge and experience in this field with Vietnamese
businesses at a workshop entitled Information Security Management in HCM
City.
At the workshop, Professor Humphreys will present the trends of
information security management of international businesses in the areas
of accounting, finance, securities, insurance, banking, IT, health
service, automobile industry, and electronics in order to maximize
information security in each organization, the implementation of ISO
27001 and its benefits.
He will also introduce solutions to help Vietnamese companies take
advantage of development opportunities and strengthen their relations
with customers and partners, their images through advertising a complete
information security management system.
Prof. Humphreys is Director of XiSEC Consultants Ltd, a UK company
providing information security management consultancy services around
the world. He has been an expert in the field of IT and information
security for more than 31 years. During this time he has worked for
major international companies in Europe, North America and Asia, as well
organisations and institutions such as the European Commission, Council
of Europe and the OECD.
He is well known and recognized as the father: of BS 7799 for the many
roles he has played in developing and shaping the standards and
international certification. He is the chair of the ISO/IEC Working
Group responsible for security management standards including ISO/IEC
17799 and ISO/IEC TR 13335 (MICTS/GMITS). He was also the editor of BS
7799 Part 1:1999 (which became ISO/IEC 17799:2000) and the editor of the
1999 and 2002 editions of BS 7799 Part 2 the ISMS standard.
He has played a major part in the development of ISMS certification in
the UK and around the world. He is the originator of the European
accreditation criteria published in EA 7/03 and has also been involved
in the development of the IRCA ISMS auditor criteria.
He is the founder and director of the ISMS International User Group. In
2002 he was honoured with the Secure Computing Lifetime Achievement
Award. This international award recognizes his noteworthy achievements
in shaping and promoting the development and standardization of
information security management best practice and especially BS 7799. He
has an honorary CISM award from ISACA and he is also a FBCS.
Humphreys frequently presents papers at conferences, workshops and
seminars around as well as writing articles and papers for various
journals and other publications. He also is a regular visiting lecturer
at various Universities in UK and around the world.
