We started our Network Engine on Solaris 7 x86 with RS 3.2. RS was installed
the day 3.2 was released to the public and we
have had no issues with the product. Did you install the latest security
cluster from Sun? How much memory are you using? Our engine
is running with 256MB memory and we installed Openwindows instead of CDE. We
had some major performance issues with HP Openview
running on CDE so we decided early on to not use CDE on any of our Network
Management/IDS machines.
Hope this helps.

We've had no problems running RS 3.1 on Solaris 7 x86 but 3.2 continuously
core dumped on us. After 6 weeks, ISS has yet to come up with a fix.

Hi
we have been asked what´s our experience with thoses machines used as RS
net engines in comparison to SUN SPARC and Wintel/NT. Unfortunately we
have SPARCs all over the place but no x86-SUNs. Can you help?
Any comments on stability, performance and in general are welcome.
TIA
Karl Jaeger
