    It's a real pain to do, but a combination fo the following usually works:

    1. Run the following script through the query analyzer:

    backup log ISSED
            with truncate_only

    2. Use the enterprise manager to do a shrink on the log
    3. Use the enterprise manager to backup the transaction log to a file, and
    check to option to purge entries from the log.
    4. After the backup completes, delete the backup, and do another shrink.
    5. Rinse and repeat
