The System Scanner CAL service needs to be able to talk to the System Scanner Console database. I suspect that you have installed two application using MSDE and that System Scanner cannot find its database. Some appropriate configuration of MSDE or SQL Server should fix this for you - if you need technical help ISS Technical Support should be able to help you.

i have installed Internet scanner 6.2.1 with Internet scanner Databridge ( for SP 2.0).
Also on the same machine i installed System scanner Console/agent.
however i am unable to start the System scaner CAL service.
any suggestions?
in the event viewer i get a driver (NPF) failed to boot.
