but maybe this extra info helps
Just for fun I tried the ALSA driver (0.5.11) instead of the kernel OSS.
And the behaviour is exactly the same (2.2.19 works but any 2.4.x not)
IMHO this means the problem is maybe in the ISA initialization or
something other lowlevel.
