The Seattle Linux List (linux-listssc.com) is mostly peopled with users

Sounds like hardware trouble to me. Do the symptoms change if you
ratchet the clock down? Have you run a memory diagnostic? How do
these systems behave under other kinds of load, like recompiling the
kernel, for example?
