With Option"SWcursor", the problem still persisted, but seems to have been
solved once I used the "no_accel" option (in addition) . The system is a
compute server and fast graphics is preferable, but not terribly important.

Will need to download 4.2.0 and try. kind of slow with a dial-up connection :-(
