    You need a new modutils for a 2.4.x kernel, as their module layout is
    different than 2.2.x kernels, so I would install that first.

    Also, modutils kinda needs to be on /, so you don't get into wierd
    situations of possibly trying to run modutils off a partition that isn't
    mounted yet, and/or you have support for that filesystem as a module!
