My earlier mail said that there *may* have been some work done that
faked the PCI card into believing it was AGP with a GART, and done the
GART-like setup using the Alpha's own scatter/gather mapping. Check for
related messages in the DRI mailing list archives on sourceforge, IIRC.

You're right, there may be the so-called Utah GLX drivers, but I really
know nothing about them.

Sigh, missed that typo; I meant "retail" as opposed to OEM. The cards
we DEC/COMPAQ sold were OEMed from ELSA, without S-Video connector,
but with a VGA-disable switch which facilitated multi-head support on
Alpha. The "retail" version (over-the-counter :-) had the S-Video but
no VGA-disable.
