Yes, 128MB is fine for those purposes.
I think you're right about it being a MILO problem. The latest MILO I
used was able to handle the "cdrom.img" part of the install with no
problem, but earlier ones may be more problematic. Are you sure you
have the latest?

There are "generic.img" and "ramdisk.img" in the images/ directory on
CD #1. Put them on floppies via "dd". Boot the "generic" one via:
>>> boot dva0 -fi vmlinux.gz -fl 1 # 1 == text mode install
and be ready to insert the "ramdisk" one when the kernel asks for it.
Proceed then as usual.
