    Yes, AS800 was one of the platforms we tested during development.

    In fact, it was one of the reasons we went to a different QLogic
    driver than the one in the stock kernel sources. We encountered many
    SCSI-related problems, because the normal AS800 configuration is to
    place a SCSI CDROM on the same bus as the harddisks, and the stock
    QLogic driver appears extremely sensitive to termination issues with
    this setup. We had much better luck with the "feral" driver
    (www.feral.com, hi Matt!), so your experience is a bit of a surprise
    to me.

    Have you tried installing via "text mode" instead of GUI, just in case
    the problem is X-related as well?

    Also, as Maurice suggested, you could disconnect any external devices
    from those NCR810s; when you do, if you connected the CDROM to one of
    the 810s, and left the harddisks on the QLogic, it may work better.
