Thanks to everyone for all your help. I replace the Powerstorm 350 video
card with an Elsa Gloria Synergy(permedia2) that I took out of one of our
other alphas. Boots and installs perfectly.

Most of our miata workstations have the TGA2 2MB cards in them. Are they
supported? I'm assuming not. We have about 45 of these miata's not being
used. I was going to see about getting them donated to the local
university. They want to set up a cluster with them, so if they're
headless that might work just fine.

This 600au I set up yesterday is the first one I've set up that has the
Bcache module. I'm impressed with the improvement. Anyone know how I can
get more of these Bcache modules? I've asked before but nobody responded.
Not even from the Island... ;-)

LOTS of people have asked about a trade for the Powerstorm 350. Sorry,
it's company equipment so I'm not allowed to wheel and deal. A quick
Google shows this card is worth around $3000 new, so I see why you're so
interested. Actually, I would like to see if I could trade this card for a
handful of basic 8 meg video cards like the Elsa card just to make these
things useful with a monitor under linux. If anyone wants to make me an
offer on multiple low end cards that have linux support, I might be able to
    get that approved.

First, I apologized for the email format - they make us use Lotus Notes :-/

I have 3 questions - I tried to search the archives but all of the searches gave 0 findings. Sorry, I know these questions have been asked b4.

I have a PWS600au (miata) that I am trying to install 7.2 on. I downloaded the 7.2 iso's right after it was released (a long time ago). I remember seeing something on the list about the original iso's being bad. Was this correct? Do I need to download new iso's?

Booting from the first cd works great (original ide cdrom), but when it starts anaconda and the graphical installer, it is just a garbled mess on the screen. The video card is a Compaq Powerstorm350. I've never used this card before, so I know nothing about it. This problem appears to be poor framebuffer support for it. But will I have future problems with X support as well?

To summarize, my questions are: 1. Should I get new iso's? 2. Is the Powerstorm 350 supported well by Xfree? 3. Any idea on why the graphical installer is garbled? (probably related to question 2)

Thx. ---- Terry Bowling Verizon NOTD Systems Support 260.461.3772
