On the MIATA with 2.6.0-test4 and ALSA, I had the best luck using the
SB driver, as the ES18xx one I could not get to work.

Did you try adding "isapnp=0" to the module arguments?

BTW, the ES18xx driver *did* work on the XP1000; go figure... ;-}
