[Immunix-announce] New 2.2 kernel packages available
From: Seth Arnold (sarnoldwirex.com)
Date: Thu May 29 2003 - 16:02:21 CDT
We've made available new kernel packages, kernel-2.2.19-16_imnx_26, with
* Fri May 23 2003 Seth Arnold <sarnoldwirex.com> 2.2.19-16_imnx_26
- Added security/ to the -source rpm.
* Tue Apr 08 2003 Steve Beattie <stevewirex.com> 2.2.19-16_imnx_23
- Added patch to add raceguard cache clearing across sessions but not
across process of different privilege levels.
The first fix will allow the "make config" steps to function properly
in the kernel-source binary package. This change has no implication
for running kernels.
The second fix modifies the rules used in RaceGuard, both tightening
and loosening the rules. This change should reduce false positives
and false negatives.
The kernel packages are available from:
as well as our ibiblio mirrors:
as well as ibiblio's mirrors:
: The previous RaceGuard did not propagate cache clearing events to
all processes in a session, which occasionally led to problems with some
Makefile idioms. This modification also solves what we've colloquially
called "the Casper Dik problem", which reversed the sense of RaceGuard
tests and could cause missed race events. We now require identical
credentials in cache clearing events -- any process that could race
another process under this scenario has the same privileges as the raced
process, and gains nothing.
