I'm afraid I don't know many details about pppoe support; our 2.2 kernels
don't appear to have any pppoe support in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/ but I
might be expecting too much for the modules to contain the string "pppoe".
I've heard that the best way to run pppoe is to run Roaring Penguin's
pppoe daemon. Roaring Penguin appears to be offline at the moment,
probably the US power failure; however, google's cache of their page is
still available.
