Nobody forces you to do anything.
You might as well use Outlook and Exchange.
Or go back to paper and pencil. No problem at all.

I don't see anyone forcing anything here except maybe that your
argumentation looks kind of forced... ;)

I have no idea what you are migrating here, but I have personally
migrated about 10 sites to Maildir and nobody had any problem at all.
