Doesn't ldconfig run at reboot? I defently rebooted my laptop many
times after updating it. The problem still happened. I'm happy with
my fix w/o xalf but next time I have to do an install i'll try running
ldconfig by hand if the problem happens again.
On my abuse machine I wiped out the hard drive and did a complete
customized developer install. After the install, near the first thing
I did was run MandrakeUpdate and updated all the PRMs. Then rpmdrake
didn't work. I removed xalf and it worked. it was
xalf-0.4-2mdk.i586.rpm
If it doesn't happen to other people I just must be doing something
freaky. If it can't be reproduced with the above information it's
just one of those strange things. Not having xalf installed doesn't
make my system any less secure, and I have already removed it from the
other systems I adminstrate.
