    Personally, I update everything. The purpose behind updates is
    (usually) not to break your system but to either fix a bug that was
    found or provide a security fix. It should not damage your system or
    require anything special (with the exception of perhaps a kernel
    update).

    MU also does not show you any updated packages for things you do not
    have installed. So, for instance, if you do not have leafnode
    installed, you will not see the updated packages for it.

    I think if you have it installed, you should update, especially if
    it's a security fix. Just because you do not use it, does not mean it
    cannot be used against you if an exploit has been created for the
    application in question.
