    Instead of relying on email authentication, like any other decent mailing
    list manager.

    Remembering a password (that is sent as clear text once in a month, BTW)
    is one way to identify a remote user. Anothe way is "the person who can
    read a specific mailbox". Mailman doesn't employ the latter.
