I just saw that a virus scanning patch for Squid has been made available
at http://www.openantivirus.org/, which scans using ther own virus
scanner. I am not sure if it can be used with commercial scanners.. They
also have samba-vscan, which supports Trend Micro (via trophie) and
Sophos (via Sophie).
They also have their own virus scanner and definition finder. While an
open source solution will probably never be good at scanning for virii
(well, a better open source solution is probably to replace all the
vulnerable closed-source software), but it is better than nothing for
home use, and useful for an out-the-box setup (before someone has the
time to buy commercial scanners)
Any possibility of someone doing some of the work to get these into
cooker/Mandrake. How about on SNF?
Amavis apparently now also supports the Open source scanner. So maybe an
out-the-box postfix/amavis/oav setup, which can be setup for commercial
scanners with ease?
