Having just been bit in the arse by choosing this setting on an upgrade
(root: can't log in on the console, all other accounts: account expired...
ugh!), is there anywhere that details the ramifications of the various
security settings and ideally the logic behind them?

I know that it states "at this level, use as a server becomes possible" - but
I have to say that I think it's a little bit overboard. /proc gets locked
down to root:adm only? Am I expected to do every moment of any
administration as root, or with an overpowered user account? etc...
