I will just give you the answer (more or less) that Warly gave on cooker
(you should be able to find it in the archives or so).

There wasn't enough space, it was either kernel-source (on the 3
download CDs) or KDE translations (on the first 3 Powerpack CDs).

No, 9.2 just got too big, and Warly didn't want to release 4 CDs. There
just isn't enough space to fit all of main onto 3 CDs (this has been the
case since 9.0 and the great outcry about abiword being missing). We're
about 300MB short using 1 650MB ISO and 2 700MB ISOs. The first CD was
intentionally made only 650MB to ensure that people with old
CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW drives that don't handle >650MB could at least get a
working installation.

Funny though, all the other on-board NICs (mostly RTL-8139's) work just
fine out-the-box ;-).
The issues are known, but:
- -packages of most of the proprietary drivers are available from the
MandrakeClub, so Club members can download these in advance
- -If you are upgrading, you keep your old kernel (and all it's modules),
so you could boot off the old kernel to get the kernel-source.
The kernel-source *should* be on the download ISOs, but what about
everything else?
BTW, the 3 Powerpack ISOs that are available on the Club have
kernel-source, but then many KDE translations are missing (and some
users already complained about that).

Buchan
