1) It is planned for the future.
2) The details are not set yet.
3) There will not be a "beta" program - if that stuff doesn't work, we
   don't ship it. Period.
4) Package signing is an intrinsic value of such a system.
5) Resource issues will have to be resolved before the system starts.
6) Of course, this list will be the first to read about it.
7) The directory with symlinks to security updates is independent from
   some (semi-)automatic update mechanisms. This may not be valid the
   other way around.
7) These format string parsing bugs are giving us a hard time these
   days. We can concentrate on update facilities as soon as the most
   urgent problems are out of our way.
