    I mirror the updates from ibiblio.org and it has no short symlinks to
    the real names either. I was under the impression that SuSE
    discontinued this 8.3 frontalobotomy some while ago, obviously not
    quite. There's no patch description there (yet).

    I find manually adding any new packages to a simple list and using rpm
    -UvhF `cat list` is very much faster and more reliable. If anyone wants
    the list (for 8.0) and some short scripts with it email me. YOU is
    wasting more time than it saves. Relieing on those patch files being
    present as well as accurate seems to be too dangerous to me.
