    Try wine to use such tools with your linux desktop.

    Another idea is a virtual machine with vmware, the is a free solution
    for that too, but i cant recall it's name.

    Check things like

    squid
    ftp-proxy
    openwall
    harden_suse
    rbacl kernel modul/patch
    snort
    ntop
    ijb

    for security related software
