    Hi Gordon,

I also discovered this W2K issue a few months ago.
In fact this occurs when a W2K client is connected to a server using a drive
    letter (D:).
If you unshare the share on the server.
The W2K client will try to re-establish the connection continuously.
But instead of simply doing TreeConnectX requests,
it will send a lot of SessionSetupX + treeX requests ignoring the server's
    status.

I don't know if Microsoft is aware of this issue.

    Pascal

Subject: Win2K and multiple Session Setup SMBs

Has anyone else seen Win2K send lots and lots of
Session Setup SMBs (i.e. five or ten per second)
    on one NetBIOS session?

If so, any guesses what makes Win2k do that?
Or better still, how to prevent it?

We keep answering the requests, but apparently
Win2K doesn't like the responses or something.
Win9X and WinNT clients all work fine.

If we kill the NetBIOS session that gets this
barrage of requests, the Win2K client usually
    stops doing it. Very strange...

    Oh yes -- Win2K workstation, SP1.

    Thanks,
    Gordon Ross
