Hmm, fair point! I was just brainstorming to try to guess what
problem Rune was really having.

From his other replies, it looks like the actual scenario is
completely different, and (for me) more interesting. I've also
had problems (on a single machine) with objects being disconnected
after 6 minutes, but "nearby" in the application I was custom
marshalling an object by embedding the standard marshalling
packet, so I presumed I was just being too clever for my own
good and had screwed up somewhere. Perhaps Rune is about to
discover something that is useful to me.
